- The Electribe 2 is sort of a jack of all trades master of none. I'm not sure I'd buy one to use as a sequencer, but its not bad a sequencer. here are some tips, tricks, techniques, and ideas to help you get more from your electribe's sequencer using the step edit.
0:00 intro
0:54 basics of using step edit mode
4:05 using sequencer velocity to duck or sidechain
7:00 quantize to key and scale
8:50 tuning individual steps in the sequencer
11:00 treat it like a analog style sequencer
12:38 focus on the rhythm of the notes
15:19 make your own grooves and ghost notes
So great to see people are keeping electribe vibes alive !!! 🎉
Hey, You too! Electribe 2 is such a fun box!
It’s usually easier to just play notes in live but definitely useful to know how to make changes.
I agree, deffinently, its even easier with a midi keyboard attached! I guess my point in making the 'tribe tips' videos is to use the gear differently to inspire different results. 'Playng' melodies with 16 drum pads is alight, but I find I come up with better techno lines working other ways.
Thank you so much for this! Already looking forward to the next video.
No problem, love the the Electribe2 and have been using it for 8 years now! Hope I can inspire and help others by sharing.
The song you crated hypnotized me to the point that I had to watch the video again 😂
Dotted 16ths tend to have that effect. Alot of my favorite tracks have something driving on the 16ths, almost like a metronome or a grid.
Dang, see. Again, this is useful. I've never thought of using the velocity for ducking. I've just pined away about the lack of accent, which I use for ducking on the ESX. Thanks again!
I tend to produce rather minimal productions, so side chaining and polyphony have never been much of an issue for me. If you like alot of work you COULD motion sequance in your ducking.. I might do a video on that actually. Was playing with the idea of using a tracker to 'program the motion recorder'
I believe motion is recorded to the pattern not the part, so you could make a template. 🤔
Just dropping a comment to say it pairs well with a tracker e.g. polyend tracker - can send modulation and sequences
@@dan_apeks yes! and you can record it into the E2's sequencer. So you could make a sidechained template as your initial patch and start every production with side chain already there.
i just bought the sampler version. I'm shocked with how low the numbers of videos are uploaded with this/these machines. They are flawed, but poweful nonetheless.
Yes, they are very overlooked. I think the original price left it in no man's land. It was more expensive then most entry level gear but cheaper then more pro level gear. I'd deffinently recommend you look into installing the hacktribe OS.
Oh and welcome to the E2 club!
i have the E2 and SPmk2 as well... having a digital synth comes in handy.
Not looking at the screen is not the same 😂 It's still quantized. But I get what you mean. 😅
Yes, but also stay tuned, I'm going to do a video making sequences using the pitch knob, that gets you off the scale some.
Hi, can I ask you if these are the original knobs
No, I got them from DJ techtools. They don't fit right on the encoders, but add a little pice of paper and it fixes that.
C'est pas la sampler
I have the Hacktribe os installed. So, best of both sampler and synth versions! 😊
