I learnt to drive in a 1964 101 in 1975. The three speed column gearchange was easy to use as I recall. When the car was scrapped I kept the "101 Deluxe" badge from the boot. I still have it! 😀

Really wanted it but alas,it was rotten as a pear after only thirteen years and got replaced with a 2.3 FE Victor saloon. Always loved that column change.Wish I'd seen this video at the time.Oh well.
It is not a 'deluxe' it is a 'super'. Super had 3 speed column change and a bench front seat and '101 super' badge on the back. Deluxe had 4 speed floor change two luxury individual front seats, chrome wing mirrors, extra sound insulation and '101 deluxe' badge on the back. Deluxe was was higher spec. model. Lovely car, my Father brought a new two tone blue deluxe 101 estate in 1967, USA style for the UK market, comfy quiet ride, carry a family of 5 on holiday with ease. Much better than the Ford Cortina which was crude, noisy and uncomfortable by comparison. Unfortunately they did suffer rust problems......
Standard spec on the deluxe was three on the column. The four speed was an optional extra on all models but the bench seat was not available on the deluxe.
My 101 was green, I got it in 1973, The best car ever!

Had identical model for a while in 1975 . Loved the "lazy " drive, comfort & massive luggage space. One of my favourites except for the rust.

I'm not normally a Vauxhall guy, but I haven't seen one of these before and it is achingly cool. I love it!!!

We had a 101 saloon and it was great. Of course, within five years the sills were like toilet paper with rot. This one is astonishing.

As most GM/Fords from this era they were scaled down US inspired cars, allthough underpowered and with a lousy build quality quality
