In this clip, U-God and Vlad spoke further about the unique style of Ol' Dirty Bastard, as the Wu-Tang legend noted that one of ODB's main influences was actually Biz Markie. "That was his idol, he loved Biz the most," U-God said during the segment, as they both agreed that ODB ultimately took that style and made it his own. From there, the conversation shifts towards more turmoil throughout the group, which he mainly attributes to RZA's early focus on side projects that got in the way of the original nine members.

Honestly though, You don't see Method Man or some of the more popular members whining about none of this stuff. The other members found a way to do their own thing and create their own brands. I feel like U-God and some of the lesser known Wu members were weren't as driven or independent and couldn't stand alone without RZA. They relied on him way too much but got the nerve to be mad at him for not doing what they could have done for themselves...
I mean I understand why u god and the other guys are mad. He just feels that RZA favored certain guys over others. RZA produced every track on Ghost Rae GZa and Dirtys solo album but left the other three to drown
Actually Meth and Rae had issues with RZA too. Rae didn't participate in some projects for a while because of that. Meth spoke on some issues as well. U-GOD just spoke up louder than some of the others. But, they are Family...and families have disagreements.
@@KDubb-ws9zc lmao nah dude his beats drowned in a flood. Everyones albums were lost and RZA recreated what he could. You know RZA barely saw outside from 93-97 because of all the beats he was producing. That body of work will always carry even the most popular members.
I agree for the most part. U-God is no where near the other guys, and he can't admit it. The only one that genuinely got screwed was Inspectah Deck. He is one of the best in Wu, and his whole album was lost in a flood. Not really his fault.

Bobby Digital was WACK!
I respect U-God's resistance to Vlad's cornering methods. Get 'em, Golden Arms! 🤣✊
RZA created Wu-Tang. The artistic vision, the beats, the production. He got an ASR10 from legendary producer RNS and built a studio in his basement. He handled the business side with labels etc. Most of the Wu-Generals even got their name from him. He wrote tons of lyrics and was rapping on a large part of the tracks on Enter The Wu-Tang (and other projects at that time).
And U-God appeared on two tracks on the debut, IIRC. Though it‘s generous to credit him for his verse on Protect Ya Neck, really.
There wouldn’t be a U-God (as in: the rapper) without RZA. I see that he’s jealous regarding RZA’s success. But U-God owes a lot to him, not the other way around.
Sorry, but that‘s a total bs.
Marco B. Somebody watched the Hulu series produced by RZA.😂 you’re stupid to believe everything from one side of the story.
U God was essential to wu tang forever tho. Rza really should have done more for him instead of all those side projects
@@gonova8412 Not really tho. U-God was not absolutely necessary for Wu-Tang Forever. He was a nice addition to the album, but he wasn't really needed. After watching this interview, you can tell why RZA wouldn't work on a U-God project, he's so needy and self-important.
U-God's hustling helped fund 36 Chambers and he did time for it, that's why he didn't feature so much on that album.

@Johnathan Thacker bullshit!! Rza negotiated the contact with Loud records that every member of the group could release solo records on different labels wherever they wanted to. I'm not following UGod's thinking on this one. 4th Disciple fully produced the Killarmy albums, and Sunz of Man was a mix of affiliated producers (RZA only had a couple beats on those). But both groups have little to nothing to do with RZA. Plus, RZA lost hundreds of beats when his basement flooded which literally changed the course of their solo album plans. PLUS, look at how much RZA did in the course of 5 years and you wanna feel some typa way about him not doing MORE. He probably had the longest string of classic albums of all time cut em some slack lol.
sooooo your just going to ignore the person that actually went through it and draw your on conculsion based on 2nd hand knowledge??? you do know you are not a part of the Wu and that there are a lot of things that happened between them that we have no idea about, correct? welcome to the internet.....-_-
Brian Martin well rza executive produced killarmy and Sunz of man albums, not to mention gravediggaz albums too
Brian Martin you’re bugging Killarmy has a lot to do with Rza, starting with 9th Prince which is his brother secondly Rza owns the name & likeness of both groups we would’ve never heard of them if it wasn’t for Rza
Yo i'm with you Sunz of Man and Killarmy was dope. And So true 4th Disciple and Su-Preme are just some hot producers. Who worked on so many dope albums eg killah priest heavy mental your so right. And if U god feels that a way but 9th Prince of Killarmy is rza's brother that about as family as it gets. I love U god but i wish he would stop shitting Sunz of Man and Killarmy. One minute his is like we was our own men 01:55 next minute he wants Rza going his album 02:41 lol
I think he means RZA put them on b4 Ugod. Not even about the beats just pluggin them in and getting them to release projects b4 Ugod.
Cocky attitude for the most boring member of Wu Tang.
They must have their own inside problem for him to be talking like this. He's still probably mad he only got like 3 bars in enter the 36 chambers 😂
Maybe boring. But voice and random wordplay was fire and gave the group that voice like pras did for the fugees

Killa army was garbage
Killarmy was whack as fuck
And gravediggaz
U-God must’ve lost his damn mind. RZA’s masterful production BARELY made his whack ass sound good, I can’t even imagine how bad he would’ve been without RZA back there on the sampler
Rza saw something in him, the bass in his voice. He had some good appearances
Whoa Sunz of Man, Killarmy, and Gravediggaz etc were all dope groups.
Yo...... I never thought about his perspective. But every man have a perspective! I respect U God. However, Rza is not a punk. Raekwon never got that disrespectful even with his disagreements. And Killarmy and Sunz of man are not wack. Salute to U God anyway. Its just missed up to see the divisiveness in the Wu family. What up to Killah priest, Prodigal Sunn and Shabazz the disciple. These brothers are some of the most gifted emcees I ever heard. Peace to Rza for whatever role he played in helping these brothers in their careers.
Sunz was super dope
They were good MCs, but the albums were not good.
The beats and song writing were bland and uninspired.
Which is the point -- you have one (and later still just a few) producers spread too thin.
You can even see in the first round of solo albums.
The first Wu albums is the only one that has the magic at 100%. Method Man's solo came first, so it is the closes thing to it. Raekwon's, GZA's and Ghostface Killah's solors are widely critically acclaimed, and indeed, they feature some of the best MCing ever put on record, but the beats are nowhere near what they were on the first group album; many of them are just bland and boring, and what raised the albums to such status is the MCing and the fact that the albums came out in an era when people were listening carefully to the records.
Already the second Wu albums is mostly filler with gems here and there
The side projects around 98-99 were primarily filler.
Also, it was far from just Killarmy and Sonz of Man.
Both U-God's and Inspectah Deck's albums came out in October '99
Look at how much of the following had been already released by then:
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Wu-Tang_Clan_affiliate_albums
@Michael Hunter What!
For those groups extended the legacy of the Wu and made it the Wu Tang sound and lyrical style the staple in underground hip hop it is today. "Wu Tang " has become its own subgenre There's niggas in Europe right now making beats like RZA, 4th Disciple , Bronze Nazareth, Su-Preme and True Master and trying to rap like Killarmy. Those Affiliates kept that raw grimy 36 chambers style alive while RZA learned music theory shit and made Wu Tang albums sound clean and commercialized. U-God is mad he got overshadowed but he also never had the best bars or personality
U God always been my favorite dude in the Wu, just as far as being a stand up dude goes. I think Deck is probably the nicest when it comes to rhymes. Definitely the two most under rated
Sunz of man, Killa Army and Gravediggaz were fire. They damn sure carried the flag properly. Killah Priest etc. some of their work was freakin masterpieces U god salty.

@@cannibalmanimal2336 exactly. They are better than him.
Dumbasses, they featured him on purpose he had the buzz at the time 😂
He just saying . The original Wu got put on the back burner
I get the feeling if UGod showed more initiative and worked on a project with 4th disciple, Tru Master or Mathematics like Cappadonna did then the Rza would've thrown in some guidance and a beat or 2. And let's be real, U God nice but he's not better than any one of the other members that had albums out before him. Rza still helped make him and every Wu member stars as opposed to having to work 9 to 5s or hustling. I think all of them should be a little more grateful
Man. He seems to be the type of person to have a good convo with. Direct with his thoughts to talk. The only way for a mature and responsible adult to be. Peace 2 U-God. 👍👍
UGod is definitely a angry man.
I'm a Wu-Tang fan since day one and the reason U-God didn't drop earlier is because no one at the time really wanted to hear him by his self for a whole album. He was really the weakest link. He wasn't a weak lyricist but his delivery and content wasn't strong enough to stand on its own. Him and Meth should have did a joint album and them two would've created a balance
True, but I think the hardcore fans like Europe would've bought a U-God mid-90s album.
Agreed
I seen an old clip of Meth and U-God getting into it on the tour bus.. U-God was jealous that meth was always taking all the questions
True, God is a great lyrics, but his vibe and charisma ain't there.
I heard Golden Arms Redemption the other week. There's maybe 4 good tracks on the album. Lack of Rza and 4th Disciple production hurt the album. Lack of Wu members hurt the album too.
I reckon it could've been edged up to maybe 3 1/2 stars if that'd been fixed.
"Yeah, what about that fly shit"...priceless
RZA made beats that made me fall in love with hip hop when I was a kid 💯
U-God trippin, GraveDiggaz, and sons of man where dope
GraveDiggaz were decent. Stopped listening to em tho once I realized most of their songs r about killing white ppl haha

U-GOD was one of my favorite members. I hate that there was so much friction in the group. With that many members I guess it's to be expected.
