Haha welcome to college football. The crowds are big and full of passion and youthful exuberance (even though many fans are middle aged and older). Several stadiums hold over 100,000 people, and most big-time University stadiums seat more than 70,000.
Just a regular Saturday between September and December on college campuses everywhere across the US.
The Tennessee Volunteers run through the Power T,where the band splits for a T as seen in this video.The stadium holds over 100,000 and they do this every home game.
A huge part of college football and a lot of American sports is called “tailgating”. Essentially people show up before the game and cook and drink in the parking lot hours before the game. The school I support called Ole Miss has a huge grove on campus and people show up the night before and start cooking and drinking!
The largest stadiums in the US are primarily college stadiums. They have a lot that seat over 100k people, and sell out most regular season home games.
I think all of these stadiums but the last one held at least 60,000 and many of them were at or over 100,000.
And these are all regular season games.
Most of those stadiums are around 100,000. Highly recommend watching the 2023 college football videos. Gets you so so hyped right before the season starts.

Every college football game is like this. Each game in college football means something cuz just one loss can fuck up ur chances at a national championship for the season. I grew up in Columbus Ohio on the north side 1 mile from Ohio state and every game day in Columbus was an event 💯
University of Michigan stadium holds over 108,000 people. It sells out every game.
Technically listed at 107,601 seats; Michigan has held capacities
reaching 110,000 when Ohio State is the opponent, and 115,000
when Notre Dame had been the opponent. They hate those teams.

Those crowds... I had a professor one time describe it as "tribalism". The student body of the university is the "tribe" and all the students go to watch their team do battle with the challenger. Probably true for most sports.
The stadiums of the SEC (Southeast Conference) and the Big 10 (US Midwest) are enormous. That one stadium in the video with all the yellow was the University of Michigan (a Big Ten school), with the largest stadium in the USA. Close to 110,000 capacity.
Yep, this is College Football. Most of us already have our favorite team well before our University years.
And we carry our fandom with us our whole lives ---- And, even though it may seem like a world stage
environment, these are not Championship / Tournament games. These are average Saturdays. Most
teams will only have 6 to 7 Home games a year, so the fan base shows up in force.
These are colleges!

No these are regular season games. Each D1 FBS team plays 12 regular season games, 6 of which are at home. The biggest College Football teams have higher per game attendance than NFL games, this is normal. Anyone who buys tickets can attend.
If you haven't already, watch Ninh's Rules of American Football. Teams are that large because the positions are specalized, and injuries are fairly common.
Running out to screaming fans is such a adrenaline rush!

you wonder how many players there were. The limit for the traveling team I believe is 65 the home team can suit up as many as they want but realistically only around forty or so will play in a game
65 for regular season and 100 for CFP and national championship most teams will play on average 52 players in a game less in a close game and more in a blow out
