Practical Strategies for Developing Cultural Humility in Education

This presentation explores the development of cultural humility among White school counselors as they worked with students of color. It delves into the need for cultural humility given ongoing demographic changes in education. Drawing from 25 years of research and findings from two scholarly manuscripts, this presentation provides insights into the challenges and opportunities faced by White counselors striving to provide culturally responsive services. Though focused on school counseling, the principles can apply to all educational settings. Attendees will gain a better understanding and practical strategies on how cultural humility can enhance teaching practice and inclusivity across diverse educational environments.
