Hey Clara, I had one of your video’s recommended to me about half a year ago and I just discovered your channel again. I must say, you have improved quite a lot. Congratulations! One of the horses I ride also has issues picking up his right lead due to arthritis. I have found that he picks up his right lead best when I make sure to frame him to have that connection. I keep his nose bent to the inside, and my inside leg is sturdy for him to wrap around as I cue for the canter. I hope this helps you as well.

heya! i just had a lesson today as well! i rode a new horse, her name is lucy she has a prosthetic leg which makes her gaits very choppy lol. i ride western so i tend to sit the trots but i learned to post since her trot is so bouncy! not like my canter was amazing, but i also didn’t ride for like a month lol but eventually ik getting a phone and i have this torso gopro thing for phones! becaus i can’t afford a gopro hero twelve despite how much i want it 😭 its sick how you can jump now! it feels like yesterday when you were only taking small canters at a time and you did that winter show! i am so happy to see your progress

I started watching this video the other day and have to say I noticed his trot (before your instructor helped fixed your leg/strippups) and for a minute I thought he was off, just not going forward, and/or not tracking up BUT I saw this difference after! I hope you felt it! I know it can be hard at first. Then finishing up and watching the jumping tonight …I mean 🙌 hay girl hay! lol I loved when you missed the count but still managed to get it in the middle! Now that can be really hard when you have missed a stride in beginning and counting in between! Anyway love all the progress as always! You and your instructor are so fun to watch! Yes I totally get the choppy trot and really nice canter for thoroughbreds my 7 year old ottb mare has such a bouncy and uncomfortable trot but her canter is so nice!!! Love your vids fishy’s jump looks so beautiful! 💕💖💗

You did really good!!! I saw that you have a little trouble getting on the right lead some times so i just wanted to tell you to keep the horses head looking inside or straight and not outside , put your outside legg a bit back let the inside in the regular position sit in the saddle hold the horse a little bit back and squeeze with both legs . Hope this helps ❤❤❤
When your trying to get the right lead left leg does back to help his lead. Whenever your trying to get the correct lead just outside leg back! My horse had the same problem too 😢 great clog though

I definitely struggle with that too! You’re just leaning too far forward. It’s a hard habit to break but think about pulling them back more, sitting closer to the front of the saddle, and heels down so you stay balanced 😇 hope this helps !

12:17 I have the same like problem with my lease, but it’s indoor vs outdoor, he LOVES cantering outside but inside is a very different story he will pick it up 3 steps at a time and I have to constantly use my leg and some times it isn’t even effective

I tip for riding a horse with a bad lesson canter bend them toards the inside of the arena then ask this will help them out and this way it is hard for them to go on the wrong lead
I’m a fishy fan girl Also just recently did my instructor tell me that when I’m posting I should be landing in the middle of my saddle not the back, which helped a lot, it’s still hard for me to keep my legs back because it feels like I’m launching forward and leaning forward. But I’m slowly getting there

Honestly it’s a trial and error! I filmed some lessons when the angle was I bad so I couldn’t use the footage 😅 you just gotta mess around with it and see what’s the best angle !

If you put a strap on the saddle and hold it with your non whip hand you will train your hands to stay down.
Never thought of that before ! Thanks for the tip
@@RidewithClara my instructor also calls it the "oh sh*t strap" good to hold on with both hands if a horse is spooking.

what go-pro do you use? i just bought the techalogic dc-1 its really good but doesnt allow chest cam so i cant get good videos like you..
I use the HERO9 black! You can buy a chest strap for it but I honestly prefer the helmet strap :)
