Thank you so much! I just started reading the Bible. Started listening to Christian music. I want to be born again and the Bible has truly gotten me closer to God.
@SHAN & HAILEY I was catholic when I commented to this. Once I started reading the Bible. The Holy Spirit revealed to me that no religion will save me but Jesus Christ. I'm glad to walk this path its not easy at all but I understand God's precious words the has left for us.
Great video and great ideas! I think one I would personally add is to highlight all the verses on salvation. So, that when your witnessing to someone it makes it easier.
Thank you so much … you are very calm and very convincing 😜 im loving your tips . I think i will just pattern after yours if you don’t mind hehehe im just starting to read the bible and actually enjoy it 😊 thank you so much
The highlights can also be bought at Wal-Mart non branded for $4-$6 if you can't afford the same ones. They are gel highlighters and kinda feel like a crayon. If you want to support her tho, I would if I could afford.
Hi there! I'm completely new to the channel and this is my first video. Haven't watched it yet. I wanted to let you know that one of the ads that played before the video was of a sexual nature. I know that you have zero control over the ads. But may hold sway in other areas of what content is delivered. I've never seen that ad before on UA-cam. Crazy.
It's a lot harder than it looks. Too many things I want to highlight, and only 6 colors. Started a chronological new testament reading plan and my Luke 1 is a highlighted mess 🤦 I think I need more color options or I need to scale back on what I feel like highlighting
7 Great Ideas Lisa found very helpful in her Bible Study: (Highlighting the...) 1. Verses that stood out to you the most 2. Names of God 3. Attributes of God 4. Promises of God 5. Prophecy of Jesus (Also highlighting & listing the verses that fulfilled that specific prophecy) 6. Word-related verses (Any topic you would like to highlight; example: peace) 7. Commandments by God in the Old & New Testaments
Can you guys pray for me, I feel like Everytime I read, I can't and I'm trying to and I get so overwhelmed and when I can't finish it, I do it the next day and now I feel so stuck. Please pray for me
Pray to the Holy Spirit for help to break through this wall. The Bible can be overwhelming to tackle but if you can pick one book to start with, and then try to read at least one verse from that book every day, the Holy Spirit will guide you through and you’ll be developing a new daily habit. Also, try to read when you feel most alert; don’t wait until bedtime when you’re tired. Good luck 🙏
I know this is a sort of older video, but prayer led me to this video in a stressful time of my life and I’m going to try this method out. 💛 thank you!
How to highlight your Bible: 1) Use a color to highlight all memory verses; verses you can memorize when facing struggles so you can recite to yourself. 2) The names of God; Yahweh, LORD, Father, Jehovah, Adonai, etc. 3) Attributes of God. Characters; Loving, merciful, Just, Righteous, Infinite, Omnipotent, Omniscient, Omnipresent, etc. 4) Promises of God; Ex. 14:14, 1 John 1:9, Matt 11:28, John 16:13, Psalm 100:5, Psalm 19:7, etc. 5) Prophecy of Jesus; highlight anytime there's mention of Prophecy of Messia/Jesus in OT then 6) go to NT and highlight that fulfillment of that prophecy. 7) Topical or word related verses; topic you personally want to highlight. Topic that you're struggling with; peace, fear, love, etc. 8) Commandments by God/Jesus; Old and new Testament.
Love this!! I just bought a bible so I can go deeper into his word and right when I opened UA-cam this popped up! This will be super helpful, thank you!
Lisa, I enjoyed your video however I have a question...what do you do when you come upon a verse that you can use all of those colors? How do you choose which one you use?
Thank you. I am close to completing reading the Bible in one year doing “The Bible Recap with Tara Leigh Cobble”. I have learned so much. I did also read all the commentary in my study Bible, but in 2020 I want to do it again in 2021, however without the added commentary. I think this highlighting idea will cause me to think and read more thoughtfully on my own. ❤️
Thanks for sharing! If you don’t mind sharing, what kinds of things do you write in the margins? Is it something special since you plan to pass it on to River, or is it regular notes of the corresponding passages?
I actually just write my regular note and things God is teaching me or showing me through the scripture. It will hopefully be something special to him when he is older, and just setting an example for him in being faithful to studying God’s Word 😊
I'd do rainbow. Half of the words or sentences one color and the other another. Or if more than 2 one line one color than the other another and so on and so forth. You can even repeat if the verse is long.
Thank you so much! I just bought a journalling Bible and some lovely pastel highlighters and I'm so excited to start studying in depth. This was so helpful! I know how some great ideas!
I use: Orange for Oneness of God Green for Dual nature of Christ Red for Salvation Pink for Holy Ghost Purple for Name of God Grey for Creation Brown for creation Green-blue for commands/instruction
This is amazing! I’ve been struggling with what to highlight in the Bible’s while I read thru. How I mark with different colors of pens also? 2 Bibles I have to only underline. I’ll use mr pen pastels for the ideas you gave us in this video then use midliners for feelings verses too. Does this sound doable?
My personal color coding system: Yellow - Important Blue - Commandments / Do this Red - Bad / Don’t do this Green - Prophecy / Fulfillment of… Pink - OT being quoted in the NT / Pink is used in the OT if someone is praying Purple - God, the color of royalty Orange - research this: person or location or festival, etc. Honestly, Genesis - Kings has its own system, plus the 4 Gospels & Acts. Then the poetic books need their own system. & the epistles need their own system too
Put those markers away! I do not agree with what you are doing. Do you actually study your Bible and how did anyone understand anything before highlighters? What if you had no colored pens to mark what is important, oh, perhaps you would have to memorize a verse or two ;-) Every moment you are striking a line in the book you are not paying attention to God or the Holy Spirit are you? Contrary to popular belief one cannot multitask effectively. And even if you could God requires all of your attention while in His Word. It wasn't inspired to be a coloring book. God gave us minds to use to study, learn and remember what He told us. There is no such thing as a "proper" way to mark up a Bible. And how much time did you spend working this out. One last question, do you think God will chastise you for not marking he right verse? Please... in your next video speak to others about the Gospel of Christ Risen and the gift of the Holy Spirit who will bring us all knowledge. We do not need a yellow highlighter. How did Paul know scriptures so well and succeed in spreading the Gospel without a colored pen and a 6" ruler?
Hi there! I wanted to highlight in my old testament all of the verses that are prophecy of Jesus or his mention prior to him coming. Any recommendations for what color to use for his prophecies?
Hey there, I just purchased myself some highlighters using your link! :) I hope that they help me be more intentional when I'm reading/ studying the word of God in my new Esv study bible😄.
Thank you, Lisa I have an idea red highlighted words usually represent the words of God and the voice of God. Here, is a reason why for that 1. It brings out the message of grace 2. It has the power to bestow the gifts of God through faith 3 Grace has the saving power for you and your faith
Once again, great video Lisa! You do a great job & Brylan....so insightful not to mention hilarious! ☺️ I'm sure there's never a dull moment at your house! 😉 You had some great ideas Kiddo! 💖 I may implement them into mine since I've already started "somewhat" of a system. Currently this is mine...red = sin/Satan, green = grace/salvation, yellow = promises/faith, orange = caution, blue = heaven, and purple = prophecy. Just some thoughts but I like your ideas too! 💞
Thank you so much! And, yes he is always making me (and River) laugh 😂 Those are all great ideas, thank you for sharing them! Hopefully it will give more ideas to people in the comments too!

Orange for Oneness of God

Grey for Creation
Brown for creation
Green-blue for commands/instruction
