just imagine being the demon king, viewing this naked guy with a stick coming at you at high speeds, going through walls and ignoring enemies, and just *pops* inside your "safe" room, just to hit you with a stick and basically obliterate you
Speedrunning, as a concept, is inherently and simultaneously *glorious* and *hilarious.* Through sheer skill, knowledge, practice and communicating/coordinating with other runners, a player has their character/selves turn their beloved game *inside-out* for the sole purpose of clearing it faster. Physics? A mere toy to abuse or tinker with. Story? A string that can be folded in on itself so you can space/time warp the ending of the story closer to the beginning. We’ve all made the jokes. “Imagine seeing some naked guy running past while the world is ending, and then within minutes suddenly everything is fine!” This manga embodies EVERY feeling and every joke that we’ve ever made about speedrunning. And it is a *love-letter* to the concept. To quote the mangaka, as I have in past: “I recommend watching an Any% speedrun for a game you had a hard time clearing. *Let’s fall to our knees together.”*
Just made me think of the "back in time" glitch in the Zelda games. It was used in Skyward Sword to manipulate the state of the game world by altering the map in the main menu. It was insanity, you could basically skip major story roadblocks and open late game pathways early.
I think Bennett Foddy put it best: A speedrunner takes a game and looks it over, carefully, from top to bottom and every angle, deeply understanding and appreciating all the work that went into the design, all of its strengths and weaknesses. And then, having understood it perfectly, they break it over their knee.
Imagine if the speedrun tech in this story was even half as absurd as real speedrun tech. Collect resources, craft a few specific items, put items in specific inventory slots, kill 1 small monster, craft a few more specific items, switch your inventory around in a specific way and then T-pose all enemies to death because that specific sequence of actions canceled all player animations for some reason.
Animation canceling causes a bug where their still-active collision box halts projectile in the air. This allows the player to throw a fireball, evade past it during the casting, catch it, and then glitch out the fireball in such a way that it sends out it's AoE every single frame that it's active until it hits a piece of environment. This gives the player a "Fireball Jacket" It's suboptimal for speedrunning, though, since it requires full fire immunity, which is it's whole own setup, as well as 60 fireball animations destroying most GPUs
A cosmic particle, likely primordial, comes and collides with a transistor in your system, switching a 0 to a 1 and suddenly teleporting you over two floors up where you normally shouldn’t be at yet. You stand in the right place at the right time, and perform a frame-perfect block with a specific type of shield which teleports you through half the entire game, then perform it five more times in quick succession.
Windwaker speedrun Tech would have been crazy. Imagine the MC dies Zombie hovers to a Higher Space and gets health while in the state of death so He comes Back to life. Or Item Slide/ windwaker storage and He goes mach Speed through the whole Game.
@@sayounsang Running into a specific wall in the capitol's castle at exactly 45° allows you to build up uncapped velocity until you move away from it, allowing you to build up velocity over the course of 9 hours, which can be used to instantly traverse through Arachne's territory and directly to the Demon King's boss room in a matter of moment, all while only ever having half-pressed the A button once.

@@MineBoy11 He wasn't exactly right either, because the +99 stick webtoon was also inspired by Dark Souls speedruns. As for what Dark Souls is, it's a videogame that was so popular it spawned an entire genre of videogames, the "souls-like" genre, afterwards

I dont understand why the comment "you failed the last glitch LOLOLOL" since Sachiku Taitei was the one who discovered that gitch in the first place. The announcer said he broke the Speedrun Record *BY A MILE* so no way that there is a speedrunner revealing his trick to others *BEFORE* the LIVE event. So how did someone make a comment about Taitei missing the "Final Glitch" that is normally kept quiet about?
He probably streamed his practice attempts. People don’t usually keep strats hidden much in modern speedrunning in my experience. Besides, as Taitei himself says, speedrun routing & glitch hunting is a collaborative effort.
Everyone knew about the glitch but shachiku cant use it reliably, thats why he still beat the record by a mile, he is the number 1 speedrunner too so the previous record was also his.
Speedrunning from an in-world point of view is a hilarious sight. Especially glitchless ones, like Quake, dude instead of fighting properly just hops around at the speed of sound, rocketjumping, intentionally getting hit for a boost, while ignoring as many monsters as possible.
I came up with an interresting isekai scenario: in a popular mmo, rich people can purchase accounts with high levels, which are made by people who do that for profit. One such person gets isekaied, figures out the magic system of the new world thanks to his experience with videogame systems, and seeing the pathethic level of power people in the world have becomes a mentor, using his build-crafting experience to teach a new generation of fighters, so they can fix various issues such as a great vampire lord or demonic invasion- or just a martial arts tournament. And story would focus on his students, each with their own goals, motivations, strenghts and weaknesses, while the endgoal is for one of them to one day surpass their teacher.
"Truth be told Danye doesn't understand anything that was just said and neither do we." 28:06 Speak for yourself my guy, I'm a fan of the speed running community and this stuff is my jam.
lmfao, this reminds me of that tekken clip "Kazuya wave dash in first person" or whatever it was called. imagine actually seeing some of these goofy animations in person
I love the side character's perspectives, what they see is the weirdest hero who fights with the sole goal of being fast, and what the hero feels, is just the average tuesday
I am a little disappointed, that he didn't accidentally do reverse-boss-order. He already started with the final boss, which is nice. And Arachne (the first real boss) gets stronger, the stronger you are, so she would have been a nice last boss to kill.
Hey everyone, I dont know where the manga name is in the video, or if its included at all, but if you were wondering its "RTA Sousha wa Game Sekai kara Kaerenai". I was trying to find it in the video description but it doesnt seem to be there.
I keep hearing complains from the west about how people feel "unrepresented" in video games. Now THIS tho... I'm no speedrunner, but it's about time they get represented. The effort these people put into being the fastest definitely needs recognition. I salute the author
Aw man, as much as I hoped for a part 2 of this video, there just aren't enough chapters released yet. This video stops at chapter 14, and as of now 1 month after this video release, only the chapter 15 is released. I guess I'll just read it and put it on bookmark :D RTA Sousha wa game sekai kara kaerenai is the name ;)
I know a few speedrunners, including one that's set a few world records, oddly enough. I have yet to meet a speedrunner who doesn't absolutely love the game they speedrun. You aren't just playing this game a few times to learn these tricks, you're doing it hundreds of times and doing ALL the things just to find little intricacies that nobody else knows, you have to understand the programming, and you have to know the little flaws and perfections of every system, all for that .01 seconds of time. Shoutout to Jordiiee.
I like how they portray the protagonist as overly knowledgeable about literally everything about the game. People often have misconceptions about speedrunners not being interested in the games they play and their lore, while in truth most speedrunners start speedrunning out of the love they have for their favorite game that they've played over and over

I accidentally rode an outgoing express commuter train once, which is why I got to experience going back into Tokyo in the last train . The coach I was in only have around 3-5 people in it, so it is possible that it would be empty on some days.

Cleared in 25 minutes? In true speedrun lingo, we wouldn't call that 25 minutes, we would call it "Sub-26". Same way how, if you beat a game in 0 minutes 42 seconds, we don't say you beat it in "0 minutes", we say you beat the game in "Sub-1 minute"
always wondered why people said "Sub-X", x being the time. thanks
I mean if its just seconds and there are several sub minute runs them youd probably call them bymy the seconds, but youre right they shoulda changed that
@@LucasPlay171 Yeah, but the point is especially that we don't round down when it's that significant, and usually we don't round down the minutes. Sometimes round down the seconds, but never the minutes.
In order not to freak the heck out of everyone, Sachiku should've just said he has the power to warp reality or something like that haha
how tf would the npc's be freaked out in the first place???
they cant have reactions to glitches that the player does nor can they even leave the place where the player is first supposed to interact with them it doesnt follow a game world or a games rules as npc cant interact or react to anomolies in the game only if wanted by the maker the game interacts with one that breaks the rules the speedrunner or player as some games prohibit or mock and ruin such efforts of breaking the rules
ive just been rambling on and on but let me say this is just not a game world just for the plot they make the npc have reactions ik they are some games that allow npcs to have a reaction to where a player goes to fast or glitches through a game but not to the point where its the whole game they still have to be an npc this has just been turned into world where guy gets transported into supposed game world speedruns through it npcs just for the sake of the plot ditch being npcs this just another generic comedy isekai sorry if i have multiple spelling mistakes but eh

it is a webtoon called a "+99 reinforced wooden stick" that is similar to that in concept. However it becomes an absurd and low level plot after few arcs. I hope this manga will hold its level. It would have been considerably easier taking in an account that author can just read about speedruners and convert real glitches to fit his manga.

The last glitch was probably the anticlimactic answer “oh I have work after this so…”
Commitment sections can be dicks sometimes no matter how perfect you were.
Speedrunner going through withdraw is certainly not something I expected to see this year
36:10 she really told her “trust bro trust”
Funny how since it's about speed-running, in just 1 chapter of the manga he beats the game already, if I understand correctly
Sounds similar to Log Horizon.

Mc is addicted to speed running to the point he has withdrawal systems when taking to long and almost loses control any even the insinuation of fast.
I like how they portray the protagonist as overly knowledgeable about literally everything about the game. People often have misconceptions about speedrunners not being interested in the games they play and their lore, while in truth most speedrunners start speedrunning out of the love they have for their favorite game that they've played over and over
