  • Two weeks ago I discussed the plan to turn nucs into massive honey producer. Today we put that into pracitice in real life again!

Ingenious system! Simple, but looks like it will be very effective. Thank you for sharing!

Alrighty- I’m marking my calendar to check back in with you… to see how this “experiment” is going.. love the idea.👍👍

Please also pray we get some sun shine !
      We need a honeyflow!

I’m in the San Francisco Bay Area- I was just on the phone with a fellow beekeeper- he said he had just about 3 minutes of sunshine today😵‍💫Poor weather seems to be plaguing everyone 🫣

I lost mine this spring. I need more equipment to make a number of hives, one or two just doesn't seem to be working.
Well oh well. It's getting expensive without backup hives.

Once you do get up and running this is a great way to maintain extra hives while keeping costs down,

@@BeekeepingwithTheBeeWhisperer that does look like a good idea. I think I might build more nuke boxes and give it a try with what you are doing vs just more eight framers.
Although I am not going with the 8's I'll be switching to 10 frame boxes with nukes under like your doing.
I get a lot of swarms in 8 frames . Never had 10 frame hives.
My experience with bees is under five years.
      Thank you for the advice.

Thanks for sharing that! You do not use newspaper for bees to know each other? No need for that?

awesome video,, with this method what would happen if were do a demarry split on the 2 nucs with only broad in queen box n 4 drawed frames then put every thing else in top box, would that give her more time or would they just fill empty frames with nector ,, thanks again i learned much from you,,,TY..

Any depopulating the brood chamber will give a bigger population and fewer swarms....try it but monitor regularly.

@@BeekeepingwithTheBeeWhisperer ty,, in this method how do you stop them from putting nector in queen box, ive done several demarrys and some follow ok, but others seem like they fill broad boz with nector giving queen less cells to lay in,, how do you stop that, if you will or know how to,, thank you again,,jim

Very interesting video and we’ll done! Question: you mention the bees won’t fight each other given the current flow. Do you disassemble this set up (remove supers) as soon as flow ends, otherwise bees will rob/fight each other for the honey in the box(s) above?

how often do you need to pull broad from nucs, wont they swarm in few weeks if she has no where to lay,,

    • @BeekeepingwithTheBeeWhisperer
      @BeekeepingwithTheBeeWhisperer  10 місяців тому

All to do with timing. If done way before the honeyflow they would swarm. If done just as it really gets going they don't often swarm, but still good to check as weather can mess that generalization up.

I have 10 nucs aside from my other hives. Perfect idea for them.

That works well with 4 frame nucs with a 10 frame over the queen’s excluder. Thanks!!!!

@@BeekeepingwithTheBeeWhisperer I had ordered some boxes one time that were supposed to be five frame nucs but they were four frame. That’s when I realized that two of them would fit perfectly under a 10 frame box. So I wasn’t upset about the box size after that.
