Sporting fan here. The majority of the fans got sad seeing Fatawu leaving, he didnt work because Ruben Amorim tried playing him in RWB. In Sporting, RWB and LWB play a lot in the wings and very high, sometimes more then the wingers itself, but they also need to defend and Fatawu greatest ability is not to defend, he is a pure winger. We are very happy for him. 🦁
the fact that you surrender freaking 50% sell on profit clause is tragedy on itself, who agree with that? on hindsight, they think they can only sell him 3M max, not fuckin 17M
@@IqbalMunaharyeah right I thought zealand was gonna mention this but he didn’t. This deal made no sense for sporting. Instead of spending like 500.000 and then selling for 17m and getting all the money, they earned basically nothing, it was more like charity work

Leicester grabbed Vardy from Non-League a decade+ ago and he got them out of the Championship and we know what happened later.....Fatawu going to do a repeat of it??
That's kind of the norm with portuguese clubs. Enzo transfer to benfica allowed river to keep 25% of the profit in a future transfer, in that transfer alone river made over 50M, they could easily have sold Enzo to any club for the release clause but that sell on fee made them prefer Benfica. Darwin from almeria to Benfica kept them 20%. That makes the clubs lineup to sell theire best prospects to the portuguese clubs, that way the clubs make money when they sell to Portugal and then again when the players are transferred to a bigger league. The portuguese clubs understand that every season they have to sell some of theire best players so that is a way of getting talent cheaper and splitting the risk and the profit with the seller club.
I recently sold a player on FM for 40M€. His previous club was Union Douala from Cameroon who initially sold him for 26.5k€ with a 30% Percentage Of Next Sale. They received 12M€ for the sale, which was 15 times their Estimated Value before the transfer (800k). The club's value was multiplied by 7 because of the sale I made. Not sure how to feel about it, just wanted to share 😀
I actually do stuff like this for most of my "long-term" saves. I'll find 1-5 hidden gems throughout the save that I will sign for cheap BUT throw a 50% of profit on their deal. Sometimes they don't pan out. Sometimes they make their original club millions. Edited to add: tl/dr I basically throw a 50% of next profit on each signing I make under 50k once I hit 4-5 star team reputation. 2nd edit: My fav version of this story was in FM21, signed a kid from Hong Kong for 35k and eventually sold him for 45M (His HK club got 22.5M). He ended up getting 120+ caps for HK and won a few trophies at Rennes and Napoli.
To add to his football skills, he is a super nice kid, Amorim said that he simply didn't fit into his idea for the team, but complimented his way of working and way of being. And for all the backstage footage we have of him, everyone in the locker room loved him. Sad he didn't play more for my Sporting. But i hope he does it big in England. All the luck to him.
Hey,, Sporting CP fan here! When this transfer happened, Sporting fans were pretty bummed that he was going out to Leicester. We could see that he was a diamond in the rough,k but he wasn't really going with the teams tactic. Like our wingers have to go back to defend, not just attack. Fatawu was excellent attacking but the defense part wasn't as great, so Ruben Amorim let him go, in a quite controversial way. But his move for Leicester, was for the best, he can shine there being a pure winger. So excited to see him in the future and Leicester's.
As a Sporting fan this one hurt to watch. I play this guy on most of my saves, he had an amazing year on youth league last year and was totally expecting him to go up to the main team, but Amorim wanted him to play on a RWB, because Sporting usually plays a defensive and an offensive wing back, so for the left you have Matheus Reis and Nuno Santos and on the right it could have been Esgaio and Fatawu, respectivelly, after Porro left. It's not all bad, we had an unusual revelation as Geny Catamo returned from a really bad loan but had a really good season this year (watch highlights from Sporting v Benfica for the league this year), it still hurts, but I hope Fatawu has a really good carreer, because he deserves it!
Just playing FM with your videos playing in the background, this came on in the random UA-cam shuffle and as you're talking about Fatawu, he just scored against me in FM for Newcastle. Crazy coincidence!
Sporting system needs full commitment to work, there's not much room for the kind of players that shine here and there. Basically he didn't defend well at all and lost too many balls in the midfield. He has great potential but lacked the space in our team to develop.
The sell on fee clause is pretty commonplace for low level teams because a young untested wonderkid from a low level club is worth less than a young untested wonderkid from a top level club. The main risk is when the contract expires and the player is never sold, but thats the risk you take.
For anyone seeing this, I'm a Lecester fan and in terms of transfers, this is was the easiest decision the board could make in regards to transfers this summer. Truly do believe we've found the next Mahrez replacement
Sporting fan here, most of us were sad to see Fatawu go, because you could see his talent, he was amazing, but Rúben Amorim played him at RWB or LWB (Which worked with another young african prospect of ours, Mozambique's Geny Catamo), it helped that he was ambidextrous despite us having LW and RW, but it seems that he had different characteristics than what our coach wanted, we had a chance to win the Young League because the only game Fatawu played he scored 3 goals, but Amorim insisted him to played 1 minute!!! against Arsenal in the Europa League, which would be his third european competition that season, and then only playing 1 more main team game after that....With a Young League winner we might have earned a lot more prestige for our young players including Fatawu... I agreed he should have been loaned and agreed to the 17M€ buyout clause, if he was burned here, another coach might see the value in him, but the Sporting fans didn't know about the 50% clause until the last few months, and aparently we had a chance to buy that 50% for 2.5M€ it was kinda of a shitshow 😅 But I'm proud of Fatawu, he will always be a part of my club, but at the same time always thought he had the potencial of going out for at least 45M€, hope we have some future earnings 😅 Lion Greetings 🦁💚
I think there are some interesting arguments if this is what Premier League academies should be doing with their kids instead of loaning them. From the point of view of a destination club, playing a loaned player is developing the asset for another club. If you own a player, you have much more incentive to try and improve them, even if another club will share in the profits. It has been a frustration seeing so many talented kids flounder on loans or in reserve football because of a lack of playing time at a proper level
That is so cool that the club didn't stand in his way and are going to be rewarded for it. The player must feel really good about that fact too now as well.
Steadfast FC used my deep non league FM strategy. Fee doesn't matter (it's usually less than £10k), but 50% sell on and a friendly can help to set you up for the National League
Aaah that's mad. I've been doing a save with Sporting on FM, it was just a random biggish team to test a tactic I made up in a Stevenage save that had us seriously over performing....anyway, that tactic doesn't involve attacking wingers or an number 10, so when I seen he was on loan at Leicester I wasn't bothered about the clause... for whatever reason they didn't take it up, so I retrained him in my troubled false 9 position... and he's incredible
Probably by far the richest club in Ghana now and they're in the second division. They're gonna destroy the second division, Get promoted and probably destroy the first divison too. They could be the Ghanaian Man City but way way way more extreme because they'll be way richer compared to everyone else. It'll probably transform how smaller clubs do business if they do really well.
Sporting fan here. Fatawu didn't fit our system too well and the truth is we need our wingers to defend and he was sloppy when running back. I liked his speed and power but he was a very volatile player. Our manager prefers less talented players as long as they are more hardworking. Happy to see him succeed but I think this was a good deal for every party involved. Also opens up more business opportunities in the future.
Its about time non european clubs started to get smart and finesse the top clubs that strip them of talent. Independiente del Valle in Ecuador is doing this too and getting crazy fees from players like Caicedo.
Zealand you have to watch the Celtic v Rangers game tomorrow it is going to be crazy. Celtic are 3 points ahead with a 5 goal better goal difference. After the game their are 2 games left for either team in the season. The game starts at 12 pm our time. I am a Celtic fan and my nerves are shredded and a ball hasn't been kicked. Hi, Sporting fan here, At the time the transfer was made, the deal was made with the 50% sell-on because I believe Liverpool was also interested. They were also paid a million euros, not sure why zealand is saying they sold him for nothing. That's just not true. Personally, I don't like him all that much. He's Adama Traore 2.0, all the physicals, some good skill, and no decision making skill at all, which is why it never worked out here. If leicester can improve that, they've got a player there. It's a pretty nice fee for us and for Steadfast. I hope this money is actually reinvested in the club and doesn't just end up in the pockets of some corrupt ghanaian businessman or politician.
