Basically watched every video you have over the last 6 months. Your values and what you stand for is amazing and super relatable. Im from manchester have a business started over last 12 months and would love to get some advice. Point me in the right direction please mate if poss. Regardless ill still be watching and gaining all value i can. Thanks again Mike.
Hi Kirk, asked for this a while ago and this is exactly what I needed. Really useful for me as I haven't figured out the dark art of cleaning my kit without a hose pipe and a hole in the ground! I'll buy you a pint mate, cheers.
I love watching these videos…I’ve just moved to Cornwall and thanks to these vids I’ve been able to do some of the plastering work we’ve needed myself. I’d love to spend the day with you… but I’m 72 so would prefer to cut out the work and head straight to the pub. 😂
Hi Kirk. Remember asking you this on one of your live shows. This is great that you've done a video on the subject. I've been using a civ and draining it off over a grid, then once drained tip in to empty bag of plaster or rubble sack.
That’s great video and always wondered a plasterers process for cleaning up. I would say the silicone bucket you were given year or so back is would be ideal for this use as dirty water bucket (easier to clean).
@@Onthetrowel Plastering course sounds sick, hopefully I can take you up one day. If you can teach me how to not get ******* plaster all over my hair, arms, floor, shoes, trestles and dog it will be money well spent! All the best with it, really appreciate your channel.
If you’re on a job for a few days you’re clean water settles overnight Drain the clean water off into another bucket leave the slops in the original bucket Keep doing this and keep pouring the slops into the slop bucket When you’re done throw a few handfuls of multi in the slop bucket and pour it in a bag it’ll go off in a few minutes Saves you getting rid of dirty water daily
Great footage Kirk. Did a skim on an old ceiling 4m X 4 M that i had SBR on it. 1st coat was fine but was setting by the time I 2nd coated it. Was fighting to get a good finish. Used a speedskim in between. 20 years never had a problem like this . HELP i have more like this to do. Jon
Hi,what should I use to stick plaster board on top of plaster board in a window reveal, also what is the best way of sticking plasterboard to the top reveal which is plaster, many thanks Ian
I think youll find that tipping your waste water down the drain is polluting the water course and theres a 2 thousand pound fine for this ,ive been plastering for 43 years and have never done this ,just dig a hole
Hi Kirk… I left the handle of my marshaltown trowel with plaster on it and forgot to wash it off, it’s not dried on to it… what’s the best way to get it off, it’s the durasoft handle, thanks
I shouldn't really tell you this but to save your back don't have your mixing bucket on the floor put it up on a beer crate or similar, far easier for getting the plaster out.
@Onthetrowel can't believe at the beginning of the video, you put a dry drill into your powdery mix of plaster. Is it not good practice to wet your drill before sticking it into the bucket
And fake cocks 😂i made a few plastering my friends sons house and his father in law and family came around, he weren't too happy, he wanted to kill me, in the pub 2 years later😂. Iv never tried to do a turd, yet
@ he’s managed to get a big tub with a screw on lid all I know is that’s where the slops go where he dumps it after that is anyone’s guess mate. Keep up the great work on your channel mate 🤜🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
@ he’s managed to get hold of a big tub with an airtight screw on lid for the slops on private works where that gets dumped is anyone’s guess. Keep up the great work on your channel mate 🤜🏻👏🏻👍🏻👍🏻
I throw that dirty water out ( after giving a good stir and mix ) in an arc pattern straight from the bucket on a grassed area so it’s not concentrated in one small area and is widely spread the combination of grass ( which is continually growing and rain ) means any residue dissipates in no time and is virtually impossible to c right from the off anyway

Very helpful mate, learning these basics are really critical
Your experience and skills are invaluable - and reassuring !
This is what you don't get told. Nice one Kirk 👍🏻
common sense I would have thought

Nicely done.
Thanks!

What brand sbr mate?
@@Onthetrowel I’m on a job now used sbr on hardwall drying so kick
Perfect timing for me, cheers.
I was on a job did what you just did down the Street drain and had a neighbour of the job taking pictures of me saying she’s gonna Report me 😂
When we seeing On The Trowel hand tools? 🏴 💪 I'd invest 💯
Experience and little tips = gold dust!
Sent this to my labourer 😂
I used to empty the drains in the street , plaster wouldnt be the worst thing i've seen down there 😂😂

Dot and dab it's called my friend
Is there no part 2 to your bathroom video?
Im a ground worker, i will never spread in my life im sure. Still here for the videos. 🙃
Hi Kirk would you ever use expired plaster? I have a few bags left which are out of date a week. I’m a beginner for reference thanks.
Sika 50 :50 . Went on your recommendation as blue grit is too thick but ok for bad walls.
Try our stuff mate, just use it neat

Just scrape at it hard with something metal like a bucket trowel
@ thanks Kirk
I shouldn't really tell you this but to save your back don't have your mixing bucket on the floor put it up on a beer crate or similar, far easier for getting the plaster out.
But then you have to move the heavy bucket out of the way each time you want a beer.
@ricos1497 Brilliant.
Or a dolly makes it easy for moving about
@@DanielEaglestone We do that with drywall adhesive or hardwall. This June will be my 48th year of plastering, I'm looking forward to a rest.
we get the van up to 80mph then gradually pour the slops out the back door. ( dont realy)
But what do you do with the set plaster in the bag?
Two options, pop it in a skip (charge the customer) or if there's not much then they can take it themselves to the local council tip for free
@Onthetrowel can't believe at the beginning of the video, you put a dry drill into your powdery mix of plaster. Is it not good practice to wet your drill before sticking it into the bucket
It's important to wet your hand tools but it will make absolutely no difference at all with the whisk mate
@Onthetrowel Thank you for your reply 🙏 great video, as always 👍
@@Onthetrowel My local authority tip charges householders something £3.50 per bag to get rid of plaster (and a maximum of 3 bags per visit)
I found that if I sprinkle some gravy granules into the bucket my Labrador cleans it out perfectly
I heard it's a 1k fine if seen pouring Any building waste disn a storm drain.
Probably is, that's why you're best just to tip the water down and not the plaster sediment 😉👍
If I get a nosey neighbour I will send them this video 😂
Our plasterer said can’t use street gully - illegal. Used flower bed - shrub died. Hey ho.
I find that any left over plaster is ideal for making fake dog poo 💩.

Open the window!
Door was open to be honest
Absolutely no need for a cloth bucket brush only just my way
Never ever put dirty water down any council drain 2 thousand pound fine in Southampton my mater got caught
Where does your mate tip water now then?
