- This is a bit of a mix video, between two topics, but hey - it's ALL about puzzles, so who cares, right? 😂😜
I absolutely enjoyed filming this and I have to admit, that there is some sort of satisfaction, going through different eras of a puzzle brand! I enjoy the brand videos so much, that it makes me wanna do more of them! 😅🙈

I have to say I agree about a tight fit. I'd rather have to take my time taking it apart at the end than have it be crumbly while I'm trying to build it. I really love your brand comparison videos and hope you are able to do more. Also good luck on the next BOTYP!
I feel the same way. I mean 3D puzzles are insane, they're very difficult to separate, but any cardboard puzzle - no matter how tight - it should be fine to disassemble 😁 I'm enjoying this types of videos too, so hopefully I'll manage to get some more puzzles, to do the comparison with! 🤩 Thank you! 🥰
Schmidt is one of my new favorite brands. I’m glad you introduced them to me. I currently have 5 different ones and growing 😆

I am really enjoying these comparison videos. I don't blame you for not finishing the second puzzle -- all that black! It's nice to know that Schmidt puzzles are getting better. Will have to keep an eye out to buy some to try, too. I agree with you on tight fit. I did a vintage puzzle (1950s) recently and all it did was shift around and I spent more time just trying to keep it all together. Thanks, Janette.

I really enjoyed this comparison brand quality puzzle series 🥰😁I have been building a lot of summer food related puzzle images and ice cream treats puzzles. End up hungry too😂When you where moving the 4 puzzles around the table, my heart was about to drop 🫣😅

I'm doing a 1000 piece Van Gogh that is making me crazy. Same colors and brush strokes everywhere. Hopefully my daughter and I can finish it when she comes home this weekend.

Thanks for nice video. I bought Schmidt Puzzle Rising Rainbow by Josie Lewis and I was surprised that the quality was excellent. Thick pieces with no glare. Perfect fit and no false fit. Very fun puzzle to put together.

Hi Janette, thanks for this video. I've always been a Ravensburger fan, so I'm still reluctant to try other brands, since each time I did, I was disappointed in terms of quality, cuts, false fits etc. I think that false fits is the worst thing in puzzles. They should be forbidden 😅
A few weeks ago I did a puzzle from a chinese brand that I had received as a birthday present. The quality was horrible, the pieces were like 1 mm thick and didn't stay together when assembled.
But I know that many brands have improved since my teenage years, and there are also many recent brands that look really interesting.
Now that I've discovered about speedpuzzling, I'll definitely consider trying other brands.

Oh yeah.. there are a few Chinese brands and they're like made out of paper. I exchanged one for Ravensburger puzzle - they didn't warn me about the quality. Never even assembled it 😓
I would advise you to watch some brand review videos - they can be a great way to learn about other brands. From the top of my head, I can tell you that Schmidt and Clementoni are also very good brands and from the US brands I've tried ReMarks, which I absolutely loved, Puzzle Twist - which I also loved, Bluekazoo, which was also briliant and Springbok (the new version), which I didn't like that much 😅 Hope you get to experience some new brands and that you will have good experiences with them! 🤩

It was impressive and also nerve-wracking to watch you moving the four puzzles around on the table They really are a good quality brand. I have to try to find a sale on Schmidt as they are a little pricey here in the US.
Haha sorry!! 😅 I thought about cutting the whole section out, but then I thought why not make you suffer a little bit 🤣🤪 I'm sure they are quite pricey, because they have a long way to go to get to the US. I wish you luck on the sales hunt! 😉
That was interesting to see the differences of the same brand puzzles over the years. Today the quality is, or should be, a great deal better than 20/30 years ago. Don't berate yourself over the Angel Love puzzle. It had a lot of black! Doing lots of white is just as bad. I'm not a fan of tight fitting puzzles as they can be difficult to take apart. Hooray, BOTYP 4 coming up and I was amused to see that it falls on the weekend of my birthday!
I agree with you, but with some brands that is not the case - I think that someone mentioned the cost of puzzle production and wanting to get more profit for less expense. And I think that's why it's also nice to do these videos, because it quickly becomes clear which company works for the best of the customer and which one for themselves 😅🙈 I understand what you mean with tight fitting puzzles and I agree to some degree - it has to be the gold middle, so it still stays together, but it's easy to disassemble 🤩

I once did a 1,000 piece puzzle that had the entire background in black. Worse that the pieces had the same cut and just could go horizontally or vertically. And even worse than that....lots of false fits.
By the end I just forced the pieces. I couldn´t handle it anymore. It was driving me insane. The puzzle is there waiting to be framed and you can´t tell that the pieces don´t fit.
Oh no, this sounds so bad!! 😬 Sometimes it makes me wonder who designs puzzles like that! Because if you know that the picture is one block of colour, you have to make sure not to have misfits and to have specific cut! I applaud you for even finishing the puzzle - I wouldn't have 😅 But good to know that you can't notice that the pieces don't fit 🤣
The only Ravensburger I love is about Alice in Wonderland. It’s very colorful and all the characters are fun and makes it a lot easier. There is one place I purchased is at Books a Million in the Auburn mall at Auburn. I got that for my 36th birthday. I still have it in the upstairs living room on a shelf with the other jigsaw puzzles I have. I paid $35 for the Alice in Wonderland. It’s a very expensive and beautiful jigsaw puzzle. My 37th birthday is less than 2 months away. All I want is my sister will let me make my own choices for myself. The cake will be chosen by Nicole (my sister) and how the graphics will be chosen by myself. Keeping going with your jigsaw puzzle adventure. I almost forgot: are you going to the world jigsaw puzzle championship this year? If you are, good luck! Ask Karen to be on her team and partner. I know she will say yes for the competition. Don’t let Alejandro win. He’s way too experienced with jigsaw puzzles. Why oh why?🤔🙄

I might spend the day celebrating my 37th birthday with her, my brother in-law + the adult children in which I say my kids. I love them very much and it melts my heart every time I visit

The Schmidt oldest box looks so much like a Ravensburger puzzle box. Any reason why?
You shouldn’t blame yourself on slowing down. The picture does make a difference and also knowing how the puzzle cut works. I’m sure you spent time worrying about misfits on the corners, where with a puzzle cut your more familiar with you won’t worry.
That's what I was wondering about too! I actually tried to find out if the two companies had any connection to each other, but couldn't find anything online 🤔
