Keith Haring Social Issue Art Project

Students were introduced to the work of New York artist Keith Haring. We discussed symbolism and how to incorporate the symbols that Keith Haring used to focus on a composition that centered around a social issue that each student felt strongly about. In addition, each composition needed to incorporate one of the 4 space techniques discussed in class: Separation with horizon line, depth created with overlapping, depth created with size variation, and/or depth created with value.
Students had the option to work with sharpie, colored pencil, or paint with a strong black outline.
