Running the starter for 2-3 seconds at a time just kills your battery. You gotta let it crank for at least 10 seconds at a time to make the most of the limited amps. I used to be gentle with the starter and just crank for a few seconds at a time but after killing 2 batteries in 2 separate vehicles, the 3rd one I just cranked it until it fired, then I was able to jump the others.
I may be wrong, but the engine sounds like a 4 cylinder van that's has really slow horsepower. The engine start sound reminds me of the 1992-1995 models of the honda civic too.
TWO96 2.2L 4cyl with 120hp until 1998 in its final year when they added vtec and a 2.3L making 130hp. Most reliable vehicle i’ve ever owned. Had mine 1995-dec2014
@@snipindowntown it actually did have vtec it's the F22B1 those engines did have Vtec it was the vtec-e system my accord has the same one the first gens are practically accord minivans.
They are really tough vans! At 0:48, my 95 Odyssey makes the same robotic type of sound. I read Twistee's comment below that it is the ABS pump while you said it is the auto trans. Is it an issue to be concerned with?
I'm no mechanic, so it could really be either haha. I don't believe it's something to worry about, I heard it all the time while I had the van. (Even heard it on other people's vans too)
Love the abs pump sounds on the early one mine Is a late ra3 sounds lovely 😍
The engine sounds like it doesn't want to cope with 0°C or -1°C + temp (32°F or 31°F)
The distributor cap was sensitive on these engines. New one should help it start easier

I did have that Odyssey but not anymore I did do a cold one start on it before left us

Couldn't be more right. 4 cyl with ~130 HP from the factory.
Later models got the v6.

hello, can i borrow a part of your video for my compilation? of course I put a link to your original video in the description :)
No.
@@HawkeyeSTi fine, your video your decision it shall be respected :) thanks for replying.
what a selfish idiot@@HawkeyeSTi
These cars start up so nice even when old af
haha they sure do!
Is that humming noise when the car cranks normal?
Adam Lynch Kinda. I believe that's the auto trans doing self checks / resetting. It's obviously much louder here because of everything being so cold.
@@HawkeyeSTi and the abs pump.
yes the sound is normal and love the sounds :)
The odyssey finds it hard to start the engine in the cold
My 1995 with 290k in -19 started up in 4 seconds. Man yours must’ve been abused. Check it out on my channel.
