    I will be coming to the Philippines when I retire to stay. Been watching Dumaguete vlogs for so long but its quickly becoming unappetizing for me to consider it. I had seen some videos on Tanjay but not as in-depth as yours so I appreciate that. Its definitely on my list to consider. Always enjoyable watching your videos and Rachel is amazing as always. You two seem to mesh well.

    Never heard of Tanjay City and was surprised about the population number vs. Dumaguete, especially after looking at the city area on Google Maps. But apparently those ~85k people are in an area roughly 8x as big as Dumaguete City, so it counts everything around the actual city away as well (103 vs. 13 sq miles).

    The wet markets are great for fruit and vegetables but I get a little worried about the meat as they dont seem to use ice to keep it fresh and flies everywhere. Presumably you go early to avoid that?

    I assume you are freezing most of the bulk meats and seafood… I was curious how well wet market meats do being frozen in regular home refrigerators vs like commercial flash freezing of seafood, Particularly the shrimp.
    Any chance you guys can do a video on a big wet market shopping haul and how you handle food storage and or even meal prep? I’m curious what the wifey does with all the little fish to make dog and cat food too.

      I have a large chest freezer and I have been meal prepping for years. She cooks it with rice and veggies

    • @thefatfilam
      @thefatfilam Рік тому +1

      @@ItsMe_Philippines So no issues with freezing slowly in a chest freezer?
      Since the meat at wet markets isn't refrigerated plus with the heat and humidity... I was worried about spoilage and how well it would freeze and store. I have noticed the texture difference between seafood that is flash frozen vs. fresh seafood that I just pop into my freezer... particularly shrimp. Flash frozen shrimp meat stays firm, but the slowly frozen shrimp can get a bit mushy.
      Anyways, if you are looking for content ideas, I'd appreciate seeing your process... I'm planning on moving to the Philippines in the next year or two and have been trying to translate how I shop at Costco and local grocery stores here in California to a mix of S&R or Landers, Pure Gold, Hypermart etc... and the wet markets there.
