On my f2p barb, which is 6 mos old so I'm still working on 1 and 2 star gems, I have been using a rank 1 spiteful blood (bcz I don't have the dupes nor the gem power to build it at all yet). It is particularly useful in vault defence, but really pretty much boss fights too. I killed a previous 7K Immortal - I was shocked!!! I use breakers wheel, furious charge (6 piece gloom set for extra fun), loathsome lamina, undying rage and frenzy ultimate. The Spiteful blood was an anniversary freebie - never thought rank 1 gems would be all that useful, but they can be. So THANK YOU BLIZZ. I go tanky. Spiteful blood and frozen heart (also rank 1 for same reasons - in-game poverty) plus barrier stone family bonus on 4 leggos, shield ancestral invocation (plus a few damage ones), and shield defensive stance all contribute to keeping me alive long enough to axewhack 'em down. Next will be a rank one aux bsj bcz movement speed in the vault or any pvp without sprint will reduce you to tears! We just came off Immortal on Sunday - I really could have used a BSJ on vault defence last week. Oh well, better late than never tho. I still do not have new helm essence. 😢 was hoping I'd have it by now and could get into bgs. I used my very last reforge stone and managed finally to get beneficial effects on my leg gear. A few are 3%, but not all. Sigh. So you know what that means? I need to foist my 855 res barb on bg to get more reforge stones. 😂😂😂 Buying what I can from the Hilt Vendor in the meanwhile. Reforging is a huge issue for those who don't bg. I've come to detest bg in my main due to the endless parade of bugs, bad matchmaking and noob players. I used to love bg, played 4 hours a day, but I've come to detest it anymore. It's no fun when you are perpetually the token 3K res "whale" on noob teams of 1-2K res players. One in 10 matches I'm put on a decent team, the rest are just a comedy of errors and noob stupidity. I didn't even bother last 3 weeks of last season except for shadow weeklies. Not enough valium to deal with so many of those horrific players. Playing support necro, there's never anyone to support anyway - most dont know a set up when it's right in front of their face. They are so busy running - either away or after - that they won't take the easy kill I lay in their laps. And corpse lance aggravates my carpal tunnel too badly to use it at all anymore - too much button hammerong, so no dps build for me. Meh, barely play that account anymore other than for daily/weekly caps. Endgame kinda sucks bcz as a mid res player, I cannot seem to gtf away from the worst of the players. I hear that only happens at 4K res. But I'm not incentivised to spend any more money on the account (another few grand at least), only to find out that's probably untrue. They get more likes and seem to appeal to the wider masses (for some reason), but they are very casual and sometimes ill-informed/confused players disseminating befuddled info. Honestly Blizzard should at least increase it to Rank 3 cause I know some people who have a Rank 5 and above Zwonsons Haunting that uses the Auxiliary Method and love it but Hate it at the same time cause it’s stuck at Rank 1 🤦🤦🤦
So does the auxiliary gem replace the properties of gem you placed it into? Or does it add? If I place a mother's lament inside a void spark, do I get the lightning plus mother's lament crit damage? Just a low spender here. I'm curious.

You get the rank 1 power of the auxiliary gem , but you get to keep the original gems resonance and combat rating. You would socket like starfire and Maw of the Deep on Zwenson for example

Blizzards greed is unreal, you still have to spend 5k cash to transfer gems if you don't have a ranked up gem.... This is so stupid, let us transfer power/rank to other gems. I have a 5/5 rank 6 Howlers that I wanna swap out for the new Maw gem, BUT, I have to rank the new Maw gem up to rank 6 with 45 copies first. So fking DUMB. Basically this just helps the losers who spend a ridiculous amount of money and already have these gems/ranks. Yay blizzard enterpayment! 🤢🤮👎

No you would upgrade a different way
You would have to just use the 5 star as a copy to make the rank 4 to a rank 5. You won’t be able to use the dormant as copies

Circle farm is the best for scraps. If you want a fast way to blacksmith just jump into your castle to salvage.
