Aachen in Germany to Maastricht in the Netherlands by local train RE18 (Arriva)

A trip report on the Local Express train between Aachen in Germany and Maastricht in the Netherlands, line RE18. Arriva is running trains on this line. The trains on this line are made by Stadler Rail and the models are FLIRT. This train also stops in towns like Herzogenrath, Heerlen and Valkenburg.
In the video I show you the station of Aachen, the train and some views from the train.

I noticed that this train doesn't pop up well in the timetable. I tweeted about it with the railway companies, however I don't know if it's fixed. As far as I know the train is just running like any mormal situation.

Amazing. When I had a summer job in Aachen, I went to Maastricht by bus. I paid 8 euros if I'm not mistaken. Very affordable and convenient.

There is no 30 minutes service between Aachen and Heerlen!! In the silent zone are 16 seats.

That arriva train looked really nice and stadler trains in general did you know arriva is an international transport company operate bus train and coach services in some European countries if you use buses often you may have seen arriva buses too

Yes, Arriva also operates Busses in the Netherlands, and used to operate them in Germany too, but they needed to sell their operations since the German train company DB is the owner of Arriva. But they are likely splitting the company since the focus of DB has drifted primarily to operations in other countries and they want to put more money to their main operations in Germany.

Hi! Enig idee of deze trein nog rijdt? Kan niet vinden dat de lijn is opgeheven van Heerlen tot Aachen, zie zelfs nog altijd de berichten dat de lijn doorgetrokken kan worden naar Luik. Als ik een reis probeer te plannen van Maastricht naar Aachen is de enige optie die mij wordt aangeboden een trein richting Heerlen en vanaf Heerlen een bus (of de rechtstreekse lijn 350 Maastricht - Aachen).
Wellicht dat jij meer weet over of deze trein nog altijd tussen Heerlen en Aachen rijdt en niet in Heerlen eindigt?

Hij rijdt nig gewoon hoor. Mogelijk zijn er op de dagen dat je kijkt werkzaamheden, maar deze verbinding is er nog en hij is prima. Vanaf Maastricht heb je ook de huidige NMBS treinen naar Luik, daar heb ik ook een video van.

I used to take it when the train wasn‘t available but I think it’s really uncomfortable sitting in a Bus that long...

There was, but SNCB for some weird reason decided to cancel that route a few years ago. The trains were always full, and now the best way to reach Liegè would be with the ICE every 2 hours, or if you want to travel cheap need to take the local train to Spa-Geronstere, and get off at the Stop Welkenraet. There you will need to change to an InterCity bound for Oostende.

Omdat 90% van mijn kijkers niet uit Nederland of Vlaanderen komt en ik dergelijke video's over de hele wereld maak. Hiermee spreek je een groter publiek aan. Ik heb een vaste regel dat zodra een trein ook maar binnen 150 km van Nederlands taalgebied een station heeft, ik mijn video's voorzie van Nederlandse ondertiteling.

Uiteraard gaan ze in Duitsland geen poortjes installeren voor een Nederlandse trein die 1x per uur van en naar dit station gaat. Er staan alleen lezers omdat het ook een binnenlands tariefpunt is voor Nederland, net zoals in Leer.
