    Charming, brilliant. Where do you pee and poop ? Sorry for directness, but important for planning. Food in the camper , aside from tea and coffee? I love Orkney. 🥰🥰🥰

      Thank you! It's an important question! Because we're not in a proper camper van (no facilities), we generally have to stay in campsites. We did one night 'wild camping' when we were up in Orkney, but parked up near to a a public toilet, which was kept open all night. Rules are a lot more relaxed over in Scotland to the idea of wild camping. Whereas those with facilities inside their vehicle can park up pretty much wherever they want, we would have to choose places that are in proximity to services.
      As for cooking, we have a portable fridge plugged in to the van when the engine is running, or the Anker power bank during the day. During the night, it stayed cool enough to not warrant turning it on. We have pots and pans for cooking simple meals on the camping stove, but it's all very portable and easy to move around. A more permanent setup would be easier, but reduce the functionality of the vehicle when we're back at home. We cooked entire meals in the van when we did the North Coast 500 a few years ago, but it's always a bit chaotic (as you can probably guess from our cooking segments on other videos).
      Stephen would love a bigger camper van with everything in it, but we would sacrifice a lot in terms of fuel economy, versatility of the vehicle and driving experience - the van is actually quite fun to drive and a really good long-distance cruiser!
      I hope that answers your questions. Thank you for your continued support!

    You're both just awesome 😎❤🎉!!!! Great video!! I know what you've gone through! My husband and I have a travel van and it gets cramped, stressful with trying to arrange things and crawling over things to get into bed each night! We go for a month or two but we stay a few nights a week at a hotel in order to get showers. Enjoy your week ahead!!! Love you guys! You always make me smile!!! Looking forward to your next video 🎉❤!!!! Hugs to you both!

    Wow what a set-up!!! I could get behind "caravan" camping. Especially with espresso in the mornings ❤ Puppy sitting... I wondered what happened to Teddy...

      Thanks for watching, our little set up is great for shorter trips. Stephen would love to have a proper coffee machine in there! Teddy is all good, he will make an appearance in some upcoming videos I'm sure. He enjoys holidays wiht Claire's parents while we are away looking after other peoples pets. :)

    Van life must be hard . I don’t think it would be for me. You both are amazing to do this. You looked great in that little van I must say. Take care guys and safe travels.💕

      It's a bit of a commitment, and you sacrifice a lot in comfort for the flexibility of being able to wake up in a different place every day. We can only do it a few days on the bounce before we need a comfort break in better accommodation! But our van is definitely not set up to be a permanent campervan - those have much better facilities, but lack the versatility that we need when we're using the vehicle back at home.
      Thank you for tuning in - we can't wait to bring you more content from Scotland soon...

      Hi Jackie, fear not, we are both doing well, we have just been extremely busy with work so our videos had to take a bit of a back seat. However you will be pleased to know that we have our next Orkney video out this Saturday :)

    does it take a long time for UA-cam to process your HDR videos? I did one and it took over three days before it was ready and I did a second one and it has been over 8 days and still is not ready and displaying in HDR.

    • @StephenandClaire
      @StephenandClaire  4 місяці тому +1

      Not especially for us, but we upload the ProRes 422 .mov files directly to UA-cam, rather than doing any compression or conversion beforehand. That gives UA-cam the best possible run to process it how it wants. In what format are you uploading your videos?

    • @oldbrokenwrench
      @oldbrokenwrench 4 місяці тому

      @@StephenandClaire yea, I do 265 which is 4:2:2 .mov. this is not proRes. I embed HDR meda data, check HDR 10+, Rec 2020, BT2184. I uploaded one video and it worked. It did take three days with no indication of the video processing up to HDR. But the second one was uploaded 11 days ago and still has not upscaled to HDR. I just hate that there is no indication on UA-cam that the video is being processed to it's final state.

      @@StephenandClaire yea, that video never did come through as HDR. But I do think I got it. Seems to take 24 to 48 hours to process up to HDR. Takes a lot of time to change settings, upload and wait to see if it worked. I'm Using Sony Slog3, and obviously DJI DlogM, Davinci Resolve converting over to Rec 2020 gamma BT2184, and embedding HDR data. There was a setting on the render that I changed from “main” to “main10”. This seems to do the trick. I just uploaded a new video that should post public on the 3rd or 4th. We’ll see.
