I am trying to practice how to trade a small account of $200 because that's realistically how much I am comfortable risking when I don't have any previous experience with trading real money. So until I see some positive results I am going to practise with paper money. My problem is when i want to place a buy or sell order using paper money I am very confused on what tab to look at. The information tab for buy/sell orders wants me to type in the quantity of orders. If I type quantity = 20 the pip value is $0.002 and the trade value is $20 If i type quantity = 200 000 the pip value is $20 and the trade value is more than $250 000 I want to risk $20 of my $200 paper money account. Which one is the right one?
Great video. Been looking for a video that explains how to buy and sell orders without the mumbo jumbo some people explain. Most people want to explain the technical side of trading, that's fine, but when u get bored from day one, you'll lose interest. Thanks again

Really helpful video thank you very much! I tried it after watching this and noticed that the 'realised P/L' don't take additional trade costs like spread cost into account? Am I missing something or is that is true due to it being just a simple paper trading?
Why did you use an example that sells off in a bear market? More useful to beginners would be the opposite, how to buy on a dip, set a stop loss to protect the downside, and take profit out at a higher level.
How do you hedge on Tradingview? When I program a strategy to long and short, they seem to interfere with each other or cancel each other out. I want to be able to long and short using only 5% of my funds and be in several trades while others are being executed and closed, without any trades interfering with each other. Anyone know how to do this?
Hey Lunkyful! Not to our knowledge. I would imagine you would need to create several different profiles on TV to have more than one paper account. Cheers - Mark
Hey Quang, the leverage level is dictated by the position size you take, which then calculates how much margin (your own money) you have to put up for the trade. The money you put in, vs the total exposure of the trade is leverage. Hope this helps, thanks for watching. - George
Hey Sam. Don't believe you've got that option in TV. For options backtesting, you might want to try an Interactive Brokers demo or ThinkorSwim demo! Cheers - Mark
Hey Robert. Great question! Alerts are more beneficial for swing traders as they allow you to set them on key levels while performing analysis for the week ahead. That way you don't have to be glued to your screens during the week and can check on the markets once you get an alert that a key price level was hit. Once you get the alert, you would check on the markets and if you get a valid setup you go ahead and take the trade! Hope this helps. Cheers - Mark
Im sorry but im struggling just to set up my account. Can anyone help me find the trade panel on the app to connect to a broker???? Or do i need to be online like at a computer for this??? Its been like 7 days and i cant find the trade panel.

A pip is a term in FX trading that refers to the minimal movement a pair makes, it's equivalent to a "tick" in the futures market.

Hey Mark, great video, I actually just set this up yesterday to begin. Can you back test on TradingView?
Hey Will, happy to hear that! There is a bar replay feature available in TV, not the best for backtesting but can still work on a manual basis!
