WMH
Give us a STRAIGHT grip 336 and 1895 blued, no bigloop with no threaded muzzle please. Some of us traditionalists don't buy into muzzle threads and stainless on a lever gun! Either way, THANK YOU for keeping Marlin alive! You guys ROCK!
Brush busters...cant count how many times my gun and I fell down. Mine is scratched, bruised and battered. Love that patina worn look. Shoots great out to 150 yrds. Put a fixed scope on as my eyes get worse. Last gun I'll get rid of.
I think the coolest part of the whole video was the man giveing credit it the North Haven Marlin plant workers . Thats not seen to much today but that bunch sure deserve it. They made em right the first time with pride. I look forward to seeing a new rifle and going from there. And from what I've gathered is if someone is going to complain about the price then its just not for you theres alot of others.
same year I put the money down for a 336 30-30 toal walk out price of 78.00 and some change . My oldest brother brought me to the store and we picked it up still have it would not part with it.
I have always loved Ruger and Marlin guns I let one of each brand slip away years ago that today are worth their weight in gold. I am glad that a great company like Ruger picked up the Marlin brand and didn't let it fade like another favorite of mine Remington. I own several Rugers and are pleased with them all. I only own one older Marlin which I also like. Unfortunately guns today with beautiful wood which I prefer are for the most part are out of my reach unless they are well maintained older used models which I have managed to find from time to time and quickly grabbed up.
I wish they would bring back some of marlins older stuff like the marlin camp carbine in 45 auto and there rim fire models but im glad they atleast still make some of there lever actions
In 1964, I purchased a slightly used Model 336 for 45 dollars. It was one of the finest rifles I ever owned. Stationed on Shemya Island in The Alaska Aleutian Island chain In The US Army. We had a shooting area. I took advantage to go to the shooting area and target shoot every chance I had. Also bought a Ruger 22 with 6 inch barrel at the same time for 15 dollars. I no longer have either and sorry I parted with them. I prefer Marlin lever actions over Winchester.
I remember having my Marlin model 336 in the .44 magnum caliber and boy what a thump it had to the shoulder but a fun carbine to shoot or hunt with and dang I wished I still had it !!!
Certainly a match made in heaven. Two great gun makers come together to produce an outstanding product. Good Luck. Thanks to Ruger, Marlin will now be around for a very long time.
Buy a real Remington Marlin lever gun made in 2016 when Remington just began making their own Marlin lever guns after they used up all the leftover J.M. Marlin parts. Just buy one of these and you will know who made them better.
Did I hear him say, "Most of their guns will be threaded?" Oh please...no! [I don't mind the additional offerings, but I wouldn't buy threaded barrel ones.]
I have an early 2000's 336W with the JM stamped barrel and gold trigger. Excellent fit and finish and like new condition even after hunting with it a few times. Paid $350 for it new.
I have a 22 and 30-30 . I love them both . I bought the 22 in 61 and it was missing the firing pin, and reload tube. I bought the 30-30 in 65. You can't beat the guns. I wouldn't have anything else.😊
The cold hammer forged barrels are a lot of the cost ,,and from what I’ve seen shot in my 67 years ,,this process produces the longest lasting and the most accurate barrels produced ever.
After I seen the price, nice rifle but why to much cost. I have the marlin 336,and it's in great condition but only appraises for 300. I'll wait till the price comes down
wish they would expand the cartridges 38 55 and 307 25 35 etc they always hard to get ole timers the real classics . ruger was always good at making collector runs
... I don't own a Ruger made Marlin (yet?) but have inspected a few and they were superb ... I wish to say "Thank You" to Ruger for rescuing the Marlin brand
I know they cost more, but if it works without fail and the quality control is there, I don’t mine the cost. Just get some of these beauties to Canada so I can add the new Marlins to my collection!
Marlin would be silly to not chamber their lever guns in cartridges like the 444 Marlin, 360 Buckhammer, 38-55 etc. They could even make their own cartridge based around the straight wall cartridge hunting laws etc.. 444 Marlin, shortened to 1.8in case length and send it.
@Nick-wn1xwWhy make a buckhammer when the 375 Winchester outperforms it, plus 38-55 can also be used in the same chamber, although why anyone would want to is a mystery.
Have a 336 from 82, now that Ruger has gotten involved and picked up Marlin, I would buy a new 336, not really a fan of the cross bolt safety since I'm use to the halfcock and the lever safety, but that's ok. Did they take the old trigger flop out of them ?.
Looks better than first ones. Originals are still in rural pawn shops at fair prices. That is the best route. Shop as far away from deer season as possible.

Im hoping that there will be other caliber as they catch up current production and they hear from us about what we want. I would love to see them bring back my favorite the 35 Remington. Other calibers i would like to see include the 308 &338 Marlin Express, the 375Winchester, the 356Winchester... Marlin would do well to offer different versions of the 336 like a straight grip stock. Different barrel lengths and sporting carbine configurations. They could make Trappers and make different levers with various sized and shaped loops. They could even offer different sights and drill and tap them for receiver sights. The possibilities are tremendous but we all want to do is gripe about some aspect of what we do have. Give them a chance and dont worry, no one can make you buy one!!!
Funny how lever actions went for $200-300 in the 90’s, while bolt actions were $600-700, and now it’s the opposite. Lever guns cost over $1000, and bolt actions go for $400-500.
I have an original Marlin 336 W and it is way better than the Ruger in fit and finish. It shoots real well and it came with the scope and sling combo. I know it has gone up in value since I purchased it and I don't shoot it at all. It has become a colectable.
If Marlin released a 336 Classic Threaded right now, the number of guns I would trade in to walk out of the shop with one in hand would be stupid. It would be the worst trade ever but I really don’t care. I’m ready to make that the last rifle I can ever buy. Once we start having kids the 336 will be the last gun I buy for a long while.
Remington did everything they could to destroy Marlin, which is why during the years that Remington owned them, their quality control was lackluster. Now, Ruger is doing the opposite, buy reinvigorating Marlin, and IMPROVING their QC. End result, Marlin is back to their glory days of QC good to see.
The real Remington made Marlin lever guns were not produced until the beginning of 2016. I own a 2016 Remington made 1895 CB 45-70 and it is the best Lever gun I have ever seen or went to the range with. Fit, finish, and function superb!! The so called Remlin lever guns if you do not know were not made by Remington!! These were all J.M. Marlin lever guns parts that Remington inherited from the buyout of J.M. Marlin. Remington did not start making their own until 2016.
I've been looking for a clean used 336 and found the prices to be ridiculous. People who have them think they are now special since Marlin shut down production. I will be buying a new Ruger/Marlin 336. Betting it will be better.
Ok, I bought an 1894. Fantastic fit and finish. Only one spot on buttstock wasn't shaped properly off the router (lower rear tang). I looked at 3 and all 3 share this minor flaw. I was a little disappointed that they didn't use cut checkering that Ruger seems to excel at. Now, I think the real question is, why can Ruger be very critical on wood fit on the 336/1894, but my late No1 looks like the wood was fitted by a high school shop class????
Basically the sky is the limit for this acquisition. Each unit a proud to own firearm. It makes repeat buying of later available models. I’d like to see the reintroduction of the Camp Carbine in .45 ACP and 9 mm. They had a M1 carbine vibe and a lot of fun to have. Wood and steel is a mix made for lasting effect.
I think the prices of the Marlins are not that expensive. In the long term these rifles will out live the buyer so its pennies on the dollar. Great job Ruger and good video.
lot of talk about price $$$'' however has anyone took notice of the Winchester 94 ''now made in Japan ? talk about sticker shock... I started picking up Pre, 64,s several years ago & glad of it. Much better built & better quality steel to my notion. Crazy thing is, you,ll pay more for the Japan gun than what you could sell a Pre 64 for in most cases. I love Ruger firearms & also have to applaud them for at least Keeping the Marlin brand built here on American soil. As for myself,, I just could never warm up to the idea of seeing'''''made in Japan''' stamped on to the barrel of such an icon as the Winchester 94''. With that said, as far as the 336 goes''' pre Ruger or present state. I,ll allways prefer the Winchester because of the sleeker looks better handling & feel. Now I love my Marlin 95 Cowboy Limited 45-70 & my 45 Colt Carbine, neither of which wear that hidious pistol grip stock like they defaced the 336 with. But thats just me & what I like folks, each to their own right....CHEERS. Oh 1 more thing. Not picking on you Ruger, but when you switched over to copy the Winchester Mod 70 safety, doing away with the tang safety that I dearly love on my 7X57 Ruger No.1 & my Ruger 77 257 Roberts to me just made no since to fix what wasnt broke...
In north haven, Connecticut I worked for years at Marlin firearms an worked all the way to the end, an happy to see Marlin still running
Then you know a lot about the history of the company! I agree, just as long as they make stainless-steel models like the 336SS.
I'm from Germany, and ordered this nice rifle over the german Ruger distributor. Hopefully it comes at christmas.

So what do prospective buyers look for on the gun and on the box to differentiate ?
How do we know it's a new ruger / marlin ?
What about any commerative, Engraved, limited edition models in the future
I've been looking for a clean used 336 and found the prices to be ridiculous. People who have them think they are now special since Marlin shut down production. I will be buying a new Ruger/Marlin 336. Betting it will be better.
Will they b making it in 35 remington
Ok, I bought an 1894. Fantastic fit and finish. Only one spot on buttstock wasn't shaped properly off the router (lower rear tang). I looked at 3 and all 3 share this minor flaw. I was a little disappointed that they didn't use cut checkering that Ruger seems to excel at.
Now, I think the real question is, why can Ruger be very critical on wood fit on the 336/1894, but my late No1 looks like the wood was fitted by a high school shop class????
Can't find any Marlins NC
Basically the sky is the limit for this acquisition. Each unit a proud to own firearm.
It makes repeat buying of later available models.
I’d like to see the reintroduction of the Camp Carbine in .45 ACP and 9 mm.
They had a M1 carbine vibe and a lot of fun to have.
Wood and steel is a mix made for lasting effect.
I think the prices of the Marlins are not that expensive. In the long term these rifles will out live the buyer so its pennies on the dollar. Great job Ruger and good video.
How about a 7-30 Waters?
I'll pass on the 336. I'm waiting for the 1885CB--45-70 with the 26" barrel, hopefully in stainless.
His shirt even says ruger marlin. Lol
I'd just like to say I do care about the cost it's cheaper to buy an ar then a leveraction now crazy world
Can’t wait to have one!
Me too👍😄
i hope Ruger stylizes the hammer. Give it a little Ruger whats what to make it your own.
lot of talk about price $$$'' however has anyone took notice of the Winchester 94 ''now made in Japan ? talk about sticker shock...
