Thank you. This added to my understanding of 거기.
Before I only understood them as 여기 meant "here" near me, the speaker. 거기 meant "there" near you, the listener and 저기 meant "there" away from both of us, the speaker and the listener.
Was I wrong or do I just need to add "we can't see it" like 거기 = "a place that is not here where we are" or "any place other than where we are"? With "we" = "speaker and listener". 우리. ㅋㅋㅋ.

In that sentence You can use both "여기에서 뭐해?" Or "여기서 뭐해?"
But We don't use "여기에 뭐해?"

"나는여기에서진고를기다려" is a formal way?
These sentences are informal. Informal way is often used in korean grammar rather that formal way.
Formal form is used basically to older people to show respect.
For eg. "나는" is the informal way of "I"
And "저는" is the formal way of "I".

Oh you already know I'm in Korea! And you are talking about time in Korea! So you must say "거기 몇 시에요?"👍
You don't have to use "에" In this case! Because there's no action verb in the sentence!

@@KoreanRyan I'm missing something...I thought you said that we use 거기 to describe a place that we both know about, but where neither the speaker nor the listener are currently located...seems to me the question should use 저기 instead since it was directed at you at your current location...
Hi :) You can use "저기" When you see the place now!
"저기서 먹자!" "Let's eat over there!"
And You can use "거기"
1. When we all know where the place is
2. Or We've been together before
3. Or We've talked about the place before!
4. And If We've never been there, It's just a place in our imagination, Right? And We can not see the place! So we use "거기" in this case!
Like,
"We've never been to Korea"
우리는 한국에 가본 적이 없어
"I wanna go there"
거기에 가보고 싶어
(거기 O / 저기 X) - because We can not see the place and We are just imagining!
