Motivation - Maslow Theory & ERG Theory

3 parameters of motivation: IDP ---> Intensity, Direction & persistence
MASLOW'S need hierarchy theory:
5 rigid step: physiological needs --> safety needs ---> social needs ---> esteem needs---> self actualization needs
bottom 2 = lower order needs; top 3= higher order needs
ERG Alderfer Theory:
existence needs ---> relatedness needs ----> growth needs
person can be at multiple levels, unlike Maslow's need hierarchy theory
not necessary to satisfy lower order needs to reach higher level of needs
