These shoes where most likely designed specifically for Kyrie with a LOT of his input, Kyrie most likely has never really cared for cushioning considering his favorite model is 100% the 3 since he always wore those after his contract was terminated and if you look closely you can actually see the same forefoot lockdown design from the Kyrie 3 right in front of the tongue and front of the shoe in the Shockwave 5 Pro version and not the regular version

And while these are really good in terms of court feel and traction, Nitro Edge cushioning and a peculiar carbon fiber torsional setup has left me a lot to be desired. I’m eagerly awaiting Kyrie’s official Anta signature sneaker in the meantime, though. These notably save on weight when comparing to the normal Shock Wave 5s, which I didn’t have in hand to compare, so I can’t tell you more than that. If I had to compare these to a former Kyrie model, I’d probably say the Kyrie Low 5 or a low-top version of the Kyrie 3. I grabbed my pair from kickscrew.com for $200 before shipping, so this is more on the premium side. I hope Anta makes these cheaper and more available for most people, otherwise this is going to be difficult to grab for Kyrie fans stateside.
