Thank You. This is the best explanation of Gly NAC on YT. At 71, my problem is recovery after heavy resistance training. I do a 4 day split and 4 days rest/recovery for that muscle group isn't enough. It will still be sore. I am trying Gly NAC right now hopefully this helps. Great comprehensive info!

I too am a Gymrat at 72. Been on GlyNac ( (3 grams Glycine, 600mg of NAC) for 58
days now and am feeling the effects already. Lifting heavier, lasting longer. Amazed
that my walking pace has quickened. Really excited about this. By the way I take these
before bed, found out the hard way Glycine acts much like a sedative. Made me daytime sleepy.
I might change the ratio in the future.

    Excellent video!
Some thoughts on doses and practical things:
    I wouldn't take liposomal Glutathion!
If it works as intended, it avoids the control of the cells, which regulates the level of Glutathion for each cell.
We don't want it to be more than the youthful levels.
What we do is give the cells the precursors they need to produce Glutation at exactly the level it needs.
Antioxidant, like Glutathion, are trixy. Bith too much and too little are bad.
Ordinary Glutathion as supplement is just a more expensive way of supplying the precursors, because it broken down into them in the digestion.
It works, but Glycine as powder and NAC in capsules is the way to go.
Glycine is sweet, and you can utilize it as a sweetener.
But NAC tastes badly, so you hide the taste in capsules.
Combined GlyNAC in capsules is just a monymaker for the firms selling it. To small doses, and much more expensive!
I would aim at 10 g of Glycineas supplement a day, because it's used for so much in the body. And we can't get enough of it from food.
But I would dose NAC from 1 g, if young (that is from 40) and increase it to no more than 100 mg/kg bodyweight when old (above 70).
That would be 8.4 g for me, so a very large dose!
The researchers utilized equal doses of 100 mg/kg bodyweight for both Glycine and NAC.
But the aren't trying to optimize the doses, just getting results the simplest way possible. So let's not be fooled by that, I think.
They didn't even, I think, considered that we need Glycine for much more than producing Glutathion! At least, they didn't mentioned that.
Of course, equal doses of NAC and Glycose means more Glycine than Cysteine. So maybe they gave it some thought. But even so, not enough Glycine, I think.
I would like to see them keeping that high dose of Glycine, and reduce NAC to half.

These effects if you see in the paper are by using 100mg per kilogram daily for 6 months. That is a huge amount .For 80kg it is 8 gram NAC and 8 gram glycine to get these results.Glycine is not that problematic but NAC at these quantities can damage your gut because it is an active substance. Not everyone can consume these quantities.

Good video but personally o don’t do the 1:1 ratio- I 57 and been taking NAC and Glycine for about a year - I take 1200 mg NAC a day ( 2 x 600mg doses) but 7g Glycine a day ( 2 x 3.5g teaspoons doses) . Glycine is also needed for collagen production and studies have shown you need 10g a day Just for that .
    I also take 5g Taurine a day plus 100000 units D3 , k2 , zinc, magnesium.
What- I’ve noticed - people don’t believe my age and I get taken for 30,s , skin is good no wrinkles, just a little grey hair - I run 10k. Week easily Wright train, have so much energy and feel amazing

Glutathione will then neutralize hydrogen peroxide and water is created in the process as a byproduct. My question is where does the water go? A tricky issue!
My take on it is that if you don’t have cancer. Gluthathion prevents it from developing, because oxidative stress can give you cancer.
But a cancer cell can also utilize Glutathion to defend itself.
Now, the thing is that you don't actually supply Glutathion to the cell. Just the precursors it need to produce it in appropriate amounts.
Like when you were younger and healthier.
I haven't seen any research indicating that GlyNAC make you die of cancer.
On the contrary, mice and rats live longer with GlyNAC. And that indicates that it prevents cancer!
Because it's a large enough cause of death for them, that if you give them anything which causes cancer, their mortality increases noticably. We have the reverse!
We therefore have good reasons to belive GlyNAC, contrary to what you say, prevents cancer.

Glycine is not an essential amino acid...

    • @larsnystrom6698
      @larsnystrom6698 Рік тому +2

      @davidwest5177
The term "essential" when used for amino acids mean that the body can't produce them at all, and has to get them from food.
The body can produce up to 3 g of Glycine per day. So it isn't "essential" accordiing to that definition.
But since we need about 15 g of Glycine per day for optimal production of Collagen, Glutathion, Creatine, and more. It's regarde as semi-essential.
We can get about 3 g from food. Especially if we eat Collagen.
      And we survives on that.
      Unfortunately, it isn't optimal.
Those who has really looked into it say that about 10 g a day as supplement is the least amount that could be optimal, in addition to what we get from food and what the body produces from other amino acids in our protein.
What happens if we don't get it is just that everything in our bodys slowly detriorate. That's one reason we don't age well.
We might not live longer with more Glycine. But we can avoid many health issues along the way.
