- The Porsche 911 Turbo 3.6 is a rare modern classic supercar, and even more special among those are cars fitted with the hallowed ‘X88’ power package. You can therefore imagine the buzz among our team in bringing to market not only one of these remarkable performance cars, but the example belonging to 2009 Formula One World Champion, Jenson Button.
Jenson’s Porsche 964 Turbo 3.6 was originally a special order for the Sultan of Brunei, equipped at the factory with the ‘X88’ power package that boosts output to 380bhp. It is the only X88 package car painted in the eye-catching Horizon Blue colour, while the interior is trimmed in Marine Blue leather.
The interior specification includes electrically adjustable comfort seats, a matching leather-trimmed airbag steering wheel, air conditioning, and sliding sunroof. The car wears the correct set of polished 18-inch split-rim Speedline alloy wheels, and remains original and unmodified.
Fresh from a full service at classic car specialist Tudor & Black, this Porsche 964 Turbo 3.6 ‘X88’ is also covered by a clean current MOT certificate, and is running and driving superbly.
Bidders can see the car on the move in this video that introduces this rare 911 Turbo, where @ChrisHarrisonCars gets behind the wheel to deliver his verdict on this uniquely finished 964-generation car.
While any Porsche 964 Turbo 3.6 is a sought-after collector car, this ‘X88’ power package-equipped supercar is an especially rare machine, and is a true one-off in the stunning hue of Horizon Blue Metallic. The auction is expected to attract strong interest from Porsche collectors around the world, and with the car offered at ‘No Reserve’ it will be selling to the highest bidder.

Anything Chris Harris, I click. Add Jenson Button in it, I'll rewatch 10x over.
same, best car reviewer
I concur, but might I add Henry Catchpole as well. It would be an epic duo.
I watched the video when Chris went to Andy Preuningers Porsche GT car museum at least 20 or 30 times lmaoo
This is the best type of Chris Harris content.
Harry's Garage vibes with incredible camera work.
He is very good but Harry is Harry
No where near as good as Harry.
@@Brownalebelly I’d say they’re both great and different. Both bring something different but no need to rank them, other than bloody good!
@@Brownalebelly i watch all of harry's content for the cars. i can take or leave him. he's just way too posh on up his own hole for me.
no one compares you harry. fool
Jenson Button + Chris Harris. Top Gear dream team right there.👍
As good as freddie and paddy have done on the show we need some proper car people on top gear now
I’d keep Freddie, sack off Paddy.
Yes if fifth gear can have karun chandhok top gear can get jenson
It would be better than the other 2 clowns they have on top gear
@@jack14kd they’re all awful let’s face it.
I never understood why 964 were kinda less loved at one point I always loved them
+1. Ditto. . A '98 Carrera S (993) owner. .. Elf'ers, there all good!!
giving that 964 Turbo the beans on a run to Le Mans or Cannes would be motoring heaven. Someone's going to be a very lucky enthusiast.
I’d have watched an hour of that… perhaps longer… we need more Chris Harris content!
Agree 100%!
I’d rather a NA than the turbo. It’s gonna fetch a huge sum regardless. From an exterior aesthetic, probably my favorite 911
Being 57, I’ve been blessed to drive those when they were new. Unfortunately never had the money to buy a Porsche. ’When you dream, you are alive’ 😏
Had the pleasure of seeing you drive back and forth past me as I was out cycling on my bike that day, if you ever feel the need to take a spin in a nice Evo 2 integrale, just let me know..
The clear signal lenses....subtle details that compliment the cars color
Permit me a chuckle for the modern vehicle.
I’m fortunate enough to have an AMG GLA45 which damn near hits the spot on similar power (375hp). I’ve had classic bikes and know the sheer wallet emptying delight of owning “old stuff”. This I’m sure would lead you down a very similar path. The Porsche looks great, can’t carry the detritus of modern life and may well have to be ground anchored to your air conditioned garage to keep the “Bad Boys” at bay.
I’ll keep the shopping trolley rocket and admire Chris’s wonderful commentary for a vehicle I have no wish to own. But maybe that Citroen Mehari for the summer, now there’s a thought…..
This man can do no motoring wrong. A joy to watch.
That G4TBO plate was originally on my car (1993 964 Turbo 3.3). The previous owner of my car then imported this Brunei car and changed the plate over. Small world :-)
That turbo whoosh at 4:20
Now where's my lottery ticket?
Chris will you please start the "Harris on Cars" series again?
"Lag is fun!" THIS!!!!
"Modern cars are too shouty" THIS THIS!!!
I see Chris Harris in the title and thumbnail I click instantly I then see a 964 Turbo in the video and I watch to the end definitely one of the best looking 911's ever made.
I can listen to Chris talking cars all day. It’s like an angel quoting poetry 😃
Beautiful car!! Driving machine at its finest & purest!
I couldn't agree more. I love these things. Give it the S package with the rear air intakes and I get weak in the knees.
How does he not mention the whale tail? The slow evolution of these cars through the 80s and 90s was so cool.
That BB Porsche got me into Porsches. Stunning.
Amazing video.....................Far far too short though, we need more on this car.
That's my 964 thank you!
I really love the rear end 😍
Interesting that the Sultan of Brunei spec'd the car with a rear wash wipe..... :D
Legends!!🏁 #anythingchrisharris
Modern cars are just too shouty… Bravo for this comment. The exhausts with all their cracks, bangs and fire, just sound - and look - broken!
One my all time favs..
I live in Crewkerne lol! saw jensen when he took his F1 car to frome when he won the world championship.
Chris has aged so much over the last 5 years - too much adrenaline from these whips.
considering the auction fee is capped at £6k, sadly even this short film is borderline loss-making.
it's great advertising for the platform, and hopefully it can generate some YT money for Chris, Neil and team
Likely a loss leader for them then...
Sometimes people do things for the love of it and not for the money.
Chris is a no BS commentator.. call it as it comes.. and can drive..
Would love when possible..
For Chris to come to Australia.. and do some laps of Bathurst.. in some Australian Muscle cars..
A9X Maybe..
Wow amazing spec, this is gonna sell for big money!!
i mean bad boys is a fun film but i remember this car mostly as blackbird from wangan midnight ;)
As the owner of a 3.3 turbo, he is spot on.
Another beautiful old 911. *I know it's unlikely you'll read this Chris, but if you do, please can you give us a look back at the 911 everyone loves to hate? A 996 C2?*
You know what? This is my dream car. No matter what I have, my second car would be this car. Because this car couldn't be your only car... but it should be your second one.
Another awesome auto video review - as always by CH. Thanks, dude.
my dog jumped up at Chris during filming
This was part of Brunei Royal Family’s collection.
a sultan of swing then, in this lovely thing !
Thank you for a truly great Chris Harris drives throwback
2:14 such a shame the .fell off during hard acceleration. Dead gorgeous car this is.
Jenson's a fool to give that car up. He won't ever find another like it.
This is my favorite car ever.
Anybody know how many horizon blue rhd 3.6 turbos were made ?
I wonder why the Sultan specified a rear wash wipe 🧐
The sultans car!
Another Phenomenal Video And Super Car Chris All The Best.
This is a proper 911..
Not the electronic crap we have today..
I am happy with my old..
1986 928.. no BS.. has 4 wheel steering.. lazy v8..
I would rather have the king ,👍the 993 turbo s, the best that Porsche made.
Currently bid: £181k.
Love this car.
I'm from Somerset too :')
It’s missing the , between 3 and 6. Replacement costs 90 Euros according to Porsche. 😀
European manufacturing ❤️
"Heading onto the Eurotunnel, pinning its ears back all the way down to Nice at great speed" ...Good luck with that and hanging on to your license / money being timed between the peages on french autoroutes !
You don’t *have* to take the autoroute...
Chris: modern day cars are to loud
EV’s : come on in chris out doors are open
Cool review and car, but I believe it was actually designed before the euro tunnel existed. 🤓
Chris, please dump Top Gear and make more UA-cam videos. The way you articulate and enthuse about motoring is unparalleled. You are brilliant. Please do more. Just to plug the gaps between Harry's Garage. Please!
Well said! We just love your amazing knowledge, understanding and passion for cars.
We really don't need anything else.
Would he dump the salary from top gear?!
As a fellow Porsche nut, I could listen to Chris all day. His passion is just great.
Biggest mistake I ever made, selling my Turbo 3.6, which I bought from new with the factory-fitted sports exhaust. Magic on overrun. Tracked it and ragged it all over Europe. Just brilliant.
Better have loved and lost Ian...
Chris, your the best at what you do, I’ve been watching you since your UA-cam days, and I take everything you say about cars as the gospel truth. 👍☘️
"There's been this whole drive to make turbocharged cars feel normally aspirated...". Whose bloody fault is THAT Chris? :)
Yep same goes for the engine noise and the 'pops' nowadays...
I remember in the days of the Gordini Turbo or RS Turbo, the lag was a plus and the journalists would rave about it! Driving those cars quickly took skill to manage it, which I guess is why it's been dialled out in recent years?
@@Retrobeemer How many times have you heard a journo bang on about throttle response? Which is totally fine obviously, but then to go back and imply the lag is somehow a good thing is a bit rich :)
Takes all the fun away imo... used to hold on when my sapphire cosworth came on boost, that's the best part not knowing which way the rears gonna go 🤣
Agree totally. Gotta talk the talk, to get the best $$$$. Followed and read Chris for probably 15 years now, but this makes me squirm a little, as I thought it was everything he was against. Still love his work though...
Skewed driving position, turbo lag, quirky interior... Any new car would have gotten murdered for that, let alone a Porsche. But all these things don't matter when the car gets to a certain age, isn't it? Infact it becomes full of character and endearing! :) Love it!
Perfection is boring. Give me a 90s 911 over anything modern.
Indeed. When bad things get old enough, bad becomes characteristic.
People seem to forget the turbo lag is what made the Ferrari F40 so exhilarating. And arguably still the greatest supercar ever made
I’ll do ya one better for quirky I drive 928’s lol
@@donkremer6019 makes them iconic
I remember driving this car for the first time back in the 90s and it had an acceleration that feels like a Bugatti these days.
Thanks Chris for bringing this memory back
Chris is right...This is the best looking 911 ever. Over the years 911's have gotten bigger and fatter. This car is sized and shaped to perfection
I agree. This and 993 2S without the aerokit. Anything that came after these air cooled are completely different cars. They just call 'em 911 but they're not the same anymore.
if CH designed and built a car, it would be a game changer. I only watch TG to listen to him. Proper geezer
Amazing how every car they feature on the channel for sale is brilliant. Who knew, the 964 is suddenly Harris's favourite 911! Well, until he does a video on a different 911, then that will be the best. Even the awful turbo lag is a positive. Ker-ching! The reality? This is not a great driver's car, and how it drives is in any case irrelevant as it won't be bought to be driven. It's got too few miles. It'll be bought to be possessed for possession's sake, perhaps with an eye to financial return, but not with much if any genuine intention to use it as a car.
Exactly. In sure he said this was one of the biggest let Down cars he ever drove in a previous non biased video
Chris you just make my day. Every time I watch your reviews I am both entertained and educated. I feel like I’m driving. And I love any 964. Stupidly I owned 2 964 Carrera 4. Stupid? Yeah, I sold each one and regretted the next day. Thank you Chris.
@R A oh gosh, gee, great, thanks for your opinion. I couldn’t be less interested.
Sadly from 2030 on all combustion cars including classics will be banned from public streets in entire EU and Scandinavia :-( In Germany the Green Peoples Party gave order to shorten fuel supply from 2025 on by reducing all conventional fuel stations to only one state operated central gas station per city or county. Now they even want to slow down all gas station fuel pumps in the EU from 20 litre per minute to 2 litre per minute...From 2027 on in the EU certain car spare parts will be banned too....as exhaust systems, turbo chargers and even some engine and gearbox oils...California and New York will do the same from 2027 on.... So no investments should be done in oil burning cars any longer....They even created a new kind of crime here, called emissions- and smoke crime :-( :-(
This 964 in this blue is absolutely gorgeous.
I remember watching old Top Gear when this came out and Tiff took it round Brooklands and got it airborne at one point. That car was mint green from memory
In a world where being a petrol head is frowned upon , Chris makes you feel proud to be one , thank you Mr Harris
No it's not
Wonderful, just wonderful! A good friend bought one in 2002 for peanuts. What an investment that turned out to be.
Ultimate Top gear without the Foolery although I did like it with the old trio... Imagine Henry Catchpole, Chris Harris and Harry Metcalfe.... Now that is the ultimate Trio in my eyes...
Three gentlemen. Learned friend Harris has some humor, but I doubt there would be any sitcom in there. The other two have their occasional joke that render them dry to the point you'd think their male output comes in powder. With collectibles, there will not be doughnuts or burnt rubber, like in this video, and it becomes a rather nerdy thing. That's not a value judgment, I might like it, as I do like the YT work of each of these. What hangs over these ideas is the shadow of one uncivilized brutal loudmouth punk who thought that his celeb status gave him more freedom in the social behavior and ethics arena than is acceptable in the real world. Mainly funny situations because of the antisocial core. These three you mention are not going to even try to copy that old format, good for them. Nor do I see them stoop to Benny Hill or Carry On levels attempted at incidentally by the original fab three of Bottoms Up Gear - what was it called again?
My late father had an early silver 4 speed Turbo with RUF alloys. Absolutely gorgeous. You didn't need brakes you just dropped a gear and the thing would drop out of warp speed.
Incredible torque.
He then bought a Turbo 2 but that was a different car entirely.
Chris just keeps it real..that's why he is so good at what he does
He lost his decimal point during a car wash. It's happened to all of us. Now he has a turbo 36.
Don’t laugh, that’s the name of a “Fairline Motoryacht Turbo 36” from the 90’s - there’s one in my local marina. No decimal point required.
maybe he only rates it because it belongs to somebody famous??, his hype sounds tired.. yawn !
Horizon blue, best color since Irish Green and Slate Grey. (riviera blue is also cool tbh)
O Lord screw a Mercedes, buy my a Porsche thanks.
Damn, I'll have to drive mine Turbo 3.6 to work today))
Always been a fan of the 964, but personally I think the 993, especially the Turbo, is a much better looking 911.
I think 911's best look was the 993. I think the 992 is a gorgeous looking generation of Porsche and you can see where it has accents of the 993 in its design
Maybe, but they're not the car that's being reviewed and nobody asked what's better!
And elsewhere, in a PCA interview Chris states that 964 Turbo is the worst of the elffers...
Beautiful it is certainly.
Beautiful aerial drone shots!
Indeed. It's an advert masquerading as a review.
I think that Chris has actually been very clever to (rightly) praise the 964 turbo as one of the best LOOKING 911’s ever whilst actually withholding any praise for its handling; if anything he’s damning it with faint praise simply describing it as a great GT car…
@@ben4373 Yes, he certainly points out the turbo lag - which probably is the problem. And yes, it is one of the most beatiful 911s ever. The proportions just look right with those wheels and the brake duct inlets look amazing.
The earlier cars were very similar but somehow far better looking. As for the widebody, they were always just badly proportioned.
@@CheeeseToastie One like the mother, the other the daughter. Opinions are like assholes: everyone has one.
Another classic never going to see the light of day again. Very sad.
Dream car that! Do prefer the carrera rs but would still have this haha
I would like to see chris review the new RUF SCR.
We miss seeing u on UA-cam Chris Harris.
Mr Harris does like those roads around Raglan and Usk. I recognised the village hall just outside Chainbrdge. Awesome looking car.
We need a Part 2 on track!!! Perhaps with both, Harris and Button, please?
I owned the US 1991 911 965 Turbo with tasteful performance mods. It was truly an exciting car to drive, reliable-(except for the power valve and intercooler o-ring) and rock solid. His description is spot on. This is the 3.6 version, even more fun.
The 965 is actually a prototype V8 911.
Really nice Porche 964...very unique color too...Horizon Blue...I like this Turbo 964 Porsche.
My all time favourite, tiff needle did a fantastic review when it first came out, think it was an old topgear where he took it up to about 160mph, great shape
Price reduced if that moaner Button owned it.
''A squashed VW Beetle with a wing on the back'' -J.R. Clarkson
In a world where opinions about cars are subjective, Chris Harris remains objectively correct.
Beautiful car, can't understand why Jenson would want to sell it. That thing will only ever appreciate.
He spends most of his time in LA and runs a small fleet of cars there. The import/pollution excess charges for importations into California are insane and while he is not stuck for a few bob he said last year he refuses to pay them.
@@Irishesbox11 yeah I've seen his post on Instagram stating he now lives in America and the steering wheel is on the wrong side. Someone is going to get a lovely car.
The one and only Chris Harris, I get disgusted with all the new youtubers wannabe car journalists
Brings back memories of watching Tiff Needell's 964 turbo review when I was a kid.
