Saw a couple comments on this already so putting this out there for everyone!
Sorry to the stats nerds expecting a thorough statistical analysis! While I still think trading/economic efficiency (in a different form)/late round success metrics (in a different form) could all be a part of a real predictive model for performance, I recognize that round-related outcomes are going to be extremely biased towards teams with higher round win pct to begin with.
These stats were mostly for fun to try and bring attention to what team factors contribute to consistently high performances (closing out advantages, but simultaneously not relying on them to succeed), and what people might want to qualitatively look out for while watching Champs, but I understand your feedback that they quantitatively don't hold much weight.
I realized early on that there are probably too many limitations to make any solid predictions to begin with, which is why I emphasized not taking these predictions seriously towards the end of the video. With more time in the future I'll try to do a more legitimate stats video on something else, but hopefully you enjoyed the video as much as you could anyway😅
I really respect how you write a disclaimer to make sure that your viewers are both entertained and educated. Gotta sub to this channel!
Hey platoon can you tell me the video title of the eg interview in the end?
@@deardoue69 you can find it in one of the most recent videos uploaded by VCT Champions YT Channel
lmao i was definitely about to joke about how it's surprising that the winning team has to win a lot of rounds lol
next time, you can just divide each of these stats by their round win pct% to see which of these kinds of rounds are the focus right
Ah come on homie, you're not supposed to predict the future, it was an interesting comparisons, the numbers and specifics are just for the understanding, not to be taken as set in stone.

your statistics are so good. i hope you make more of it especially for other team's analysis like TS which always one step away from qualifying for champs.
EG ecos is not talked enough. The amount of times we saw them pull a round out of their ass because c0m had sova ult, ethan or jaw just owned an angle and got one more than they should have, or demon1 or boostio just popped off after picking up the vandal after clipping someone with a sheriff was insane. Literally at no moment in their champs run on a post timeout eco did I feel confident they would lose it.
Commenting without watching the vid, I already know they all have a gaming chair
And a good mousepad
The first blood statistics perhaps were valuable if you included only one: either FB and Non FB. Taking into account both, you are sampling 100% of rounds and I feel like its just going to be biased to whoever wins the most (The Champions winners obviously).
The rest I feel as if are also biased to "whoever wins the most rounds" (Besides trades) which can just be equated to whoever is playing well. We all know the champs winners were playing well.
Though I think being able to win ECO's is huge and a good indicator of good tactics (in contrasts to just having good aim and mechanics. At least if were not talking the chamber meta)
Thanks for the detailed feedback!
You're completely right that those stats are "mostly" meaningless if we're trying to actually predict a winner, and I probably should not have prefaced them by implying they are the strongest indicators of success.
Mainly just wanted to point out what team factors contribute to consistently high performances (closing out advantages, but simultaneously not relying on them to succeed). By no means a real statistical analysis but hopefully at least still fun for you to watch!
@@platoonval Love your videos! I enjoy watching them and I find them thought provoking. I don't disagree with anything you said, these stats are indeed big factors to what contribute to high performances!
Loud 2022 stats are crazy, every one in that roster is just insane...
Crazy time that goes into these videos 🔥
Honestly, as a Computer Science student, I'd love to do some data mining on these stats haha
New project idea for me!!
How is it done so quick, not manually right
don't think we have too much data to get anything useful, but yeah we can get some weights to predict this year's champs
@@PrashantSingh-e6t as a computer science student, the process is spending 20 hours making a program that does it automatically instead of manually doing it in 5 hours

I used this for pick'ems. I'm top 4% with 104 points now. Now let's see if I can do it again for playoffs.
What PRX have the most post plants??? Something's not right with the data
regional data, they sucks at it when going to international 😂
Alecks changed their post plant discipline after Shanghai after seeing what happened
note, this is including post-shanghai data aswell (stage 2) where they became far more disciplined within pacific
congratulations for the work!
Hey Platoon, love your analysis videos. Just as a method of solving the bias that winning teams have better stats, you could draw for each team 50 random rounds in a tournament that are wins and 50 random rounds that are losses to get non-win related statistics such as trade percentages. Of course 50 can be replaced with whatever number is appropriate (I just chose that number out of convenience) For win-related statistics, that problem would still persist but at least for such an important fundamental as trading or % of rounds won that are an eco this would solve that. ❤
Thanks for the great suggestion to randomly sample! Will consider it in the future for other stats :)
@@platoonval ❤️
Great video! The data is simplified well and easy to read.
loud 2022 was insane
Please continue this after Seoul, thanks!
Interesting appreciation and video overall as always.
It's kind of funny how stats can still show stories, like how optic wasn't the best at trading but that might partly be due to yay single handidly destroying teams without needing to trade because of chamber and even though acend wast the top at trading they were still pretty high up there
Great video as always!
Fb win percentage feels like it has the obvious confound of the teams that win it all will have a higher round win percentage in general since they're winning, which would raise their fb win rate.
who's here after EDG WON CHAMPS?
It’s crazy how good champs 2022 loud was
crazy good video. as always
love content like this
The stats are proof that acend winning champs were just a fluke. I don't see any of the acend players getting highlights after the event
I was just gonna comment this exact thing lol. Gambit should’ve 1000% won 2021.
Though I would like to say that cned 100% has compilations, and if not directly about him, he’s in a lot of best flick compilations.
What all champions winning teams have in common: They're champions
Honestly this video shows very well why Champs 24 looks *stacked*. Multiple teams are good and rank closely w.r.t. each other in each stat. This just confirms it's going to be really hard to predict every match accurately (except obviously Talon's lmao) and also to determine who is the possible winner out of all these teams.
Bro that thumbnail is sick
love this type of vid
I'm not sure but I think we should also consider vibes and momentum, like after winning a thrifty the momentum shifts no?
What they had in common, they all won champs 🗿🗿💯💯💯💯💯💯
that viper at 2:48 lowkey looks like utopia album cover
NRG vs BLG still maintaining relevance
Proof that you just don’t really know until we see who wins lol.
1:45 Gambit were the power house back then and it’s crazy how far if the team wasn’t disband. Plus I was so sad that gambit lost champions 2021 because they could’ve won in icebox, but ascend kept their cool and won.
hey Platoon, great video as usual! The percentage at 2:25 should be average tho, instead of total. It just doesn't make sense to add them up.
Ah good callout. Added that in last minute to try and show that head to head trades from 1st-8th placed teams clearly trends upward but doesn't make sense to actually add cause of different sample sizes. At least I think it's still probably true😅
@@platoonval no difference, if u were to do an average itll have the same results since youll divide them all by a same number.
@@telmenerdenetugs True! The point is that averaging the percentages of teams gives an improper idea of what the true trading average for the year is (which is simply all trades/all deaths)
hello Plato big fan of ur works! i was wondering if u ever thought of costreaming these events on twitch and give a lil insight on how why and what a team can do
im sure theres a lot of ppl will be happy to hear that. much love ^^
Yo great vid, remember to take care of yourself tho!
glowing eyes apparently lol this thumbnail
I always loved your statistic way of analyzing things, but in this video, I think it is almost like you included most stats, and that means like ok you have to won first blood, than you have to win also without it. You have to have a strong postplant and retake. You need to have good trades, etc. I think those are basics of the games and if you say that you need to do all that is almost like telling them you have to win all the rounds to be champs and of course they have lol.
The only thing that I think we can get from this video is how Valorant has become more and more team oriented and strat oriented rather than just go and kill all enemy
If I watch 12 minutes for them to say ‘a trophy’ I will be very disappointed
great vid
Certain teams like GenG are just on another level compared to their regional form which probably messed with the stats. Like GenG before Shanghai didn't look that impressive compared to their Madrid form. Certain teams are able force themselves to go to another level when its time for important games
That's Honestly true, they looked Shaky in Split 1 and when it came time for Shanghai, they were the scariest team to face and no one wanted to play against them
Crazy to think the last International loss GenG had was on Madrid Finals, they actually look insane. Hope we get A+ from every players this champs too. APAC needs first champs trophy now
A part of that is also strats. GEN.G probably won't use everything for a random season game where as for a Masters they'll use everything.
@@munkhjinmunkhbayar5952it’s also due to their crazy map pool. Both them and Lev only have like one map each that is below 50% win rate.
@@cloudyskyz2237 crucial thing is WAS their map pool. Sunset was their only weak map now Abyss and Haven is in instead of Breeze (Their practically 100% win map where they're THE best team in the world), and Split (TH got destroyed, not Breeze level but definitely very strong map). They won Shanghai because not gonna lie they had Icebox, Lotus, Ascent, Breeze, Split, and then Sunset and Bind (Weaker ones). Now it's gonna be a bit tough because they got destroyed by DRX on Haven, and Abyss hasn't even been shown.
previous champs should be the same as masters winner. Same level of difficulty(against best team available around the world.)
They are just the best team in the world for that current MONTH.
Such a good video
The Gen.G vs G2 Grand Final gonna go CRAZY calling it now.
UPDATE: Gen.G have been taken out in groups… Sen look great again… Team Heretics also beat Gen.G just by fixing some minor mistakes.
Boy slow down. 😭😂✌🏾
I think it's fnc vs geng
@@xexstartheyoutuber2424nah GenG vs Lev
G2 can’t best Lev (shown in stage 2). GenG and Lev are genuinely just a tier above everyone else.
Lev literally had not dropped a single map in Stage 2 until they got to playoffs semifinals. They had a flawless run.
Plus, their map pools are insane, GenG and Lev only having like one map each that is below a 50% win rate.
@@cloudyskyz2237 Lev relies a LOT on Aspas and Mazino to cook. To be fair, they often do frag insanely well, but it's not a guarentee. Meanwhile, G2 is a team that's entirely based on timings, and reads, so they're not reliant on really anyone to win rounds, it's their teamplay that's fundamentally great. Look at their rounds, they are winning 3v5's, and their clutch rate is so high so consistently even though they aren't highlight players. They simply have a better read on the game than anyone else. Very similar to EG last year, where EG never really heavily relied on any one person to carry their rounds. Demon1 did have his highlights but the majority of rounds they simply had a really good gameplan.
Platoon your vid’s are actual art🦞😩
Like this is the only channel that I get videos recommended right after they release cause I click every time❤
They all disbanded after winning champs
bro 100% works in data analytics
I think only taking stage 2 in account can be a bit misleading, since other factors can affect teams, like Team Heretics, which have been seen as a pretty strong team in international events, however their level took a dip in performance do to burnout (like miniboo said).
I mean the burnout excuse is just BS. GenG stayed on top consistently since Shanghai. Why would they not also be burned out?
Tln scrim looking good tho👀
EG scored 1st on every stats last year except retake, and the Org just didn't care about it. Wasted one of the best team.
GenG stats differ hugely from local competetion and international
they have a different mode for internationals

G2 is severely underestimated by everyone including their fanbase
They still will most likely not even get to top 4 🤷♀️ I’d say it’s a toss up between them and TH on who gets to 4th.

All i can see is that Gambit should have won in 2021
Can't help but notice PRX was looking pretty good on all those stats.
All this told me is that sen isn’t winning

well i dont think this aged well
Acend does not count bro let's be real here
Proof the win was a fluke lol
This is not a good analysis, any stat that includes the outcome of the round makes meaningless predictions. You are effectively saying teams that came first in tournaments... win rounds, this is obvious and not as insightful as it seems. making it 4v5 and 5v4 w/r doesn't make it meaningful, because obviously teams that win rounds are going to correlate with stats that are how often do you win the round.
Your prediction at the end is really just saying teams that have won are likely to win in the future, though true is trivial. A good prediction from statistical analysis would be if you could predict a team previously winning is going to do poorly or a team losing is going to do well this time. Or more usefully if you could apply your model to previous tournaments and predict the outcome only using data from before the tournament which from this video seems not the case
Bros the stat savant 😭😭😭
Thanks for the detailed feedback! You're 100% right that it is not a good statistical analysis and I'm sorry to have baited you into thinking it might have been.

i dont mean to be a hindsight harry but acend got lucky because riot gave them free win against vivo keyd so they are not the champions gambit were
Prx getting grouped
I genuinely would not be surprised if they get knocked out in groups. They got destroyed by G2, and if FUT actually pick their best map, ascent, then PRX have zero chance.
Tbh, the only reason PRX have been consistently in international events this season is because of their individual player skills. They flip flop between having good team play and not, and their map pool is arguably one of the worst out of all the teams, maybe only slightly ahead of Talon and Trace, purely because they are so dominant on Sunset. That is literally their only good map. Every other map besides Lotus (and abyss technically but they’ve only played one game on it so eh) has an under 50% win rate. Hence why they were very easily reverse swept by DRX.
What all champions have in common is that the enemy team in the grand finals all should've won but then they threw
These stats are bit biased, they only include stats from champs but not during the seasons/masters, of course the winning teams will have highest stats across board but it doesnt mean it correlates if they didnt do this across their season
Mmhm prx post plant number 1 AINTNOWAY, also lev is winning
I'm pretty convinced that fb/non fb win percentage is useless data. Like if you win a lot you obviously have high fb and non fb win percentage. I guess your point remains, as it would be possible for a team to win champions with exclusively high fb wr, and therefore your data shows you should be well rounded. But like the data alone fells kinda useless. I could make a statistic of wr (winrate) when you use utility first (or something random which dosent impact gameplay) and claim that the champions winners also had the highest wr in rounds where they used utility first compared to other teams.
Anyway, long rant, your data feels a bit useless, however id say your point that the winners were well rounded makes sense. Please give an explanation if i simply couldn't interpret your data correctly
You're right! Full explanation in my pinned comment
all the stats here and SEN gonna win it all anyway 😭😭
Bro said "early tournament exit" for a top4 finish lmfao
Acend had terrible stats cause every team threw against them
If you combine stat 2 and stat 3, you are essentially saying “champions winners tend to win rounds with or without a first blood”. Bruh. You are literally saying “winners tend to win”. Amazing analysis.
G2 3-2 GEN.G grand finals lock it in
Well GenG lost
