Rock Train Passes Train Derailment, Short Line Railroad Cincinnati Eastern Railroad, Ohio Trains

- Big Rock Train On Cincinnati Eastern Railroad. Passing The Site Of The Train Derailment. Railroad Maintenance Of Way Forces Were On The Scene & Gondola Cars Were Spotted Next To The Derailed Freight Cars. This is a short line railroad just east of Cincinnati on the Norfolk Southern Peavine Line. Includes a CSX auto racks train on the north side of Cincinnati. The CCET train was another good size train.
We see the Cincinnati Eastern Railroad CCET empty rock train heading towards the quarry at Plum Run. We see both sides of the train since I filmed it at two different railroad crossings near Sardinia, Ohio. The first time we see the train is at the Corboy Road crossing just west of Sardinia and east of Mount Orab. Notice the derailed freight cars sitting by the tracks. Maintenance crews were on the site. The train cut off a couple of gondola cars here to help finish the derailment cleanup. We see the train stop to cut the cars off the rear onto the main line. Listen to the awesome sounds of the cars banging together! I think it's pretty cool to be next to a train when it is doing switching work like that.
The next time we see the train it is just east of Sardinia, Ohio at the Yochum Road crossing. Here we see the other side of the train and we get a close look at the top of rail at the Sardinia Holdout. This railroad siding gets very light usage. It is mainly used for storing freight cars and the rails are almost always rusty. Notice the rails are heavy pound welded rail and in great shape. The ties are another story.
After we see the train for the second time, we then go to Winton Place, Cincinnati to see a CSX auto racks trains heading towards Queensgate Yard. I filmed this about a week earlier and this is the first time that I have filmed at this spot behind Krogers. This is next to Canal Ridge where I film off and on. Just trying out a new spot. Play it safe and take it slow past the derailment area. The track may still be settling a bit and if they're working on car reclamation some of this may be very close to the track. So here's to the summer solstice where the dogs have the longest amount of daylight to play with each other and entertain the viewers

20 years ago I rode an Amtrak train that passed by a freight derailment in Georgia. I've got to look up the derailment online.

Loki is also the name of the Nordic God of Mischeif. However, Loki (The God) was Male, so the idea of it beibng short for Locomotive makes some degree of sense, as the traditional shortening of locomoyive is "Loco", but that could have "Mad" Connotations, So Loki it is. Yes, Loki is Growing fast, and looking Like a nice dog. Keep posting, Brian. Love the videos.

I always wonder once CCET collects the lumber railroad ties and once they bring them back to Norfolk Southern. I wonder where they go from there
If you have the time when you go to Strasburg Railroad in PA next time, mite want to check out the longest stone arched railroad bridge north of Marysville and Harrisburg PA ,plus the near by Enola RR yards along the Susquehanna River.

Thank you for taking a break from cutting your grass to capture this Cincinnati Eastern train at two crossings, Jaw Tooth! At the first location you caught them dropping off a few cars at the location of the derailment that occurred a couple of months ago. I was hoping that you would have had the time to walk up to the tracks to show us how many cars were dropped off and where they were dropped off. The second location showed us some stored cars on the second track. I presume that the flat cars on the front of the trains will be going into storage on the far east end of the line. Are some of those gondolas at the end of the train going to the lumber company in Peebles, Ohio that produces raw ties? Thanks for adding the CSX auto rack train at the end of the video. Loki is getting bigger.

Great video, but can you just answer a few questions? I am new to trains..but actually as a kiddo, have always loved them. But after the first crossing, close to the train line....what was that "hissing" sound? and then when you got to the 2nd crossing..why would another train just be sitting there? I mean no offense, I just do not understand.
