It's great to see the song being passed down through the generations, and it's especially meaningful to have Lalah Hathaway performing it with her father. Lalah is a talented and respected artist in her own right, and she has carried on her father's legacy through her own music and performances.

This sho nuff made me cry! Seeing Donny gesturing toward Lalah and hearing their voices blend so well together and the musical technicalities and mastery that Lalah brings to everything she touches this was almost too much for me to take! This was absolutely beautiful in every way! Donny will forever be missed but we are so blessed to have his music and his legacy go on through Lalah and the music they’ve both contributed to this world! I could go on forever!! This was truly beautifully done.

Totally agree! I’ve actually said this about EVERY version I’ve ever heard! I’ve hated every single version EXCEPT instrumentals because if it isn’t Donny or Lalah, I don’t want to hear no one else singing it! Just leave it alone!

Not a version! His is the original :) This one with Lalah is a vocal version with some variation from the original though, it was found from the vaults after his passing. She said in an interview it was probably recorded before the original when he was still working out the vocals for the song.

This brought me straight to tears… beautifully done! I grew up listening to Donny Hathaway, this has been our family’s Christmas anthem for decades (his version). Others have honored him and sang but I’ve been waiting for his daughter Laila Hathaway to put her soulful stamp on it. This is a real treat, thank you Lailah, a wonderful rendition and awesome video!!!❣️❣️❣️ I can’t wait to get it. It made me want to rush to the record shop/store like my dear, beautiful mom did when she brought it home for us to decorate to some forty plus years ago. It was one of favorite Christmas music staples forever. This will be my/our fourth Christmas without Mother… she was our everything and we still truly miss her❤️🙏🏾
