So I was at this event at the base of that ski hill. I'm not sure people realize how MASSIVE this firework was to see in person. Words cant really put it into perspective. It was magnificent. Nobody knew it had worked until the sky turned red and everyone lost their minds. The year before, their first attempt, failed. It exploded inside the ground, and actually shook the ground and broke a window, and car alarms were going off all over!!! So much power inside that thing. I still have the newspaper article from the next day pinned in my room.
It truly was awe-inspiring, I don't believe that it holds the record for the biggest actual explosion, I believe the record is for the actual mortar itself but it was an Indescribable experience, unfortunately I don't live there anymore but I'm glad I got to experience the world class firework shows at Winter Carnival every year
