Absolutely. I was born in 1967 and as a young kid in the 70's they were huge. To find that out feels like a real kick in the guts. They were named Kings of Moomba for 1999 before the story broke that Perry had molested his grand daughter about 5 years earlier. They were immediately stood down, which I think was unfair to Doug McKenzie but it was such a shock that there was no Moomba Monarch until 2010. Kudos to Doug McKenzie for having nothing to do with Perry after finding out despite their 50 year association. McKenzie was a WW2 POW of the Japanese.
What a shame that they didn’t talk to each other in the end. Doug McKenzie (zag the taller one) refused to speak to Jack Perry (zig - the little guy) and refused to perform with him in the end. They were both born in England and both died in Melbourne.
My Dad sang this to me when l was quite young . Took me ages to work out where it came from. Thanks😀
I sang it to my kids… written by Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein for the 1957 Pantomime Cinderella.
@@GlowingTube I thought it was written by Tommy Steele the English singer, and performed by Tommy Steele and Jimmy Edwards.

Great trip down memory lane!
When the molestation case came out, it felt like such a betrayal to my youth.
Totally agree. I felt the same way.

I loved Zig and Zag ❤️❤️❤️
Oh I loved Zig and Zag growing up as a child in the 60's. They were wonderful. I can still sing that song 55 years later. I loved them.

When Doug knew what Jack got up to he wanted nothing to do with him.
Jack Perry was like a Rolf Harris apparently.
Worse, he preyed on very young children.
Happy Hammond! 😄😄
