Wow the food look appetizing. Glad you can taste Malaysian home cooking. 'Is it a bad habit to eat out loud?' = Rather than bad habit, it just a bit impolite but not something rude or forbidden. Some older generation or household don't like to have any sound (on purpose) while eating. You can chit chatting while eating, just like in the video the family just casually chit chatting while enjoying the food. The kuih looks sooo yummy. I really wanna eat some rn.
it's normal for Malaysian to be friendly like this. it's our tradition when a guest come to our house, we need to feed them. some house in rural area will keep feed u with foods and fruits. hopefully u can stay a little longer until ramdhan month. u can see lots of local and many foods stall that called Bazaar Ramadhan. hope u enjoy ur time in Malaysia and stay safe
wow i'm early😂 'is it a bad habit to eat out loud?' it depends on the family itself..some may don't like it (especially older generation) but others just don't bother to care about that as long as you enjoy the food.. it's just my point of view huu..feel free to correct me
As Malaysian Muslim, yes eating with loud noise is consider rude and nasty but some part of my Chinese family loved eat loud to show appreciation. I get confused too sometimes when we all gather 😂😂😂
It is just like mannerisms, not just older generation, there is younger people don't like hearing people eating so loud. Best of all if it is not your closed friend n family, don't munch your food loud or slurping your noodles out loud in Malaysia. Because my muslim friend said it is the habit of pig which is no good, eat like human being with table manner.
Some hosts would just order ready made dishes from restaurants - nothing wrong with that - but the lady host here was most hospitable to cook the fish head curry herself. The small talk during the lunch was also interesting and informative.
im more interested for the house than the food it self... my terrace house already cost me rm800k. But this house must be at least worth a couple million..
The tradition in my family and community (I am from Melaka) esp my late-mom in law's to feed guest rice, she was very adamant to feed any guest that come to her house. Even if it not makan time. She just don't like guest to go back with empty stomach. I used to be annoyed those days because I am the one that has to prepare and clean, she was the one doing all the cooking. But now, I followed her footstep a little bit, must feed my guest at least with some kuih and pack them something from the kitchen or garden. My bro in law too, he will make sure that his guest eat something. We were trained by our elders to be this way.
I bet language barrier is kinda huge here right? Maybe next time you can use Google translate so that communication will become better between you and other Malaysian. 😅
