Doctor5, not knowing how to properly cut off a limb, prepares to before surgery using a butter knife. The screams are heard throughout the compound as Doctor5 cut's off Builder10's left leg with a poorly serrated and rusty butter knife and applies the bloody stump with the cloth from a dirty piece of cloth from a piece of pants that had been in the dirt for several days. I heard the screams through the walls in my room, and I'm on the other side of the compound, said Crafter3, who had slept without a wink that night. The reason that people keep dropping in that one spot is that smokeleaf applies a conciousness debuff, that combined with other injuries or sicknesses cause then to longer be able to move. Also, those who only have one leg can still walk, but they are much slower
One of my tamers got a leg shot off by a mechanoid (as well as an arm) and was going to bleed out in 3 hrs. Had my doctor triage him on-site without medicine to stop the bleeding and then start to carry him home. About halfway there, he was no longer incapable of walking somehow and made it to base unaided. I tried assigning him to a medical bed, but it kept refusing and saying he was uninjured. I absolutely love this series, I've been watching your Project Zomboid episodes recently, but for some reason I didn't subscribe, after seeing this series I finally subscribed. Keep up the good content and happy new year!
I can't wait until there's a migration event. The mental image of dozens of colonists swarming a herd of passing animals is immensely funny to me for some reason. 😂 Also, whilst giving actual names to the colonists kinda ruins the whole "ant colony" theme, it does give a nice feeling of natural development. Please rename Builder10 to reflect his missing leg!
Love your videos, but I do have a couple of ideas you could try: You could try a micro-less management challenge, where you're only allowed to manage your colonists on the macro scale: Work/Sleep Schedule, Tasks available to do, Placing Blueprints, etc. You are never allowed to make a colonist PRIORITIZE anything, as that is considered micromanagement. To compensate, you are allowed to make the colonists however you wish. You could also, for a slightly easier time than this nightmare, do a Walker, Texas Ranger playthrough. A legendary crackshot and melee combatant who's quick on his feet and quick with his wits, but only ever allowed to either use his fists or some form of Revolver (or if you're cheap, any form of pistol) that he's allowed to start with. Also required to wear a Cowboy Hat at all times, regardless of weather. Also, may I recommend you actually check the top left more when you get notifications? It tells you when an animal is attempting to hunt down and eat your pets, but it's disguised as just any other notif. You need to keep an eye on it whenever you hear the ding, just so you know when things happen. May your 2020 be brighter than Lee's untimely Triple Rocket Launcher failure!
You amaze me with how you're able to keep up with some of this. I've tried to recreate some of your series, namely the 0 skills all passion and now this one and they all just completely flounder while you're somehow able to get them running. Props to you.
Thanks! Haha, that's the first time I've ever had anyone say I was decent at the game :p To be fair, it's all after loads of playtesting and trying to balance it after a few attempts before starting ^.^ Hope that somehow helps you find the balance in your own!
I find that even with different attempts its still a bit overwhelming, I've found the most success in attempting to recreate your scenarios in multiplayer with two of my friends as we're able to split up areas of attention from the entire colony. From you I'm able to learn most of the tricks that you yourself learn from the comments and apply them to my own game, I most especially learn from your mistakes as they're the best teacher. Overall, these series are really helpful in new-er players with learning as you yourself are learning some of these for sometimes the first time! Thanks a lot for putting up these videos.
Hey mate, I commented on the last video with a tip, but it was a matter of minutes before you uploaded this one and I don't know if you read comments from the older episodes or only the most recent video XD But the tip was: When you're setting up bulk jobs for things like cooking stations you can copy a bill to the clip board. On a bill it has a big S on the right side that suspends it, then the next icon over copies it. You can then use the paste bill button in line with the add bill button, but on the right hand side) on another work station that has that job as an option. It'll save a lot of time and make sure you don't miss anything when making so damn many bills.
Imagine coming across a colonoy of 100 almost naked, hairless men eating raw, hard rice in a massive cave, not a single one of them is capable of doing anything reliably and they sleep in 1x2 meter rooms.
Pretty sure turkeys have a 0% chance of retaliation, you can walk right up to them and shoot. Good work though, I love this colony (especially Nigel Thornberry!)
Your playthrough is by far the best I've seen so far - showing interesting things, keeping the storyline, not getting distracted and speeding up when boring stuff happens. Amazing, thanks, now I want to buy Rimworld or play Dwarf Fortress again
So, I've been watching this and your other playthrough and I wanted to comment on smokeleaf because I haven't seen anyone else say it. Smokeleaf is actually worse as a general mood item than psychite tea. Smokeleaf gives 13 vs tea's 12, but smokeleaf lowers consciousness making colonists slower and more prone to being downed or dying. Tea does the opposite, making them quicker and, well... Less prone to dying. As long as you're not giving them more than 1-2 cups a day it isn't addictive. I generally use smokeleaf as a "smoke joint in case of mental break" item while I have tea as a general consumption thing
Hey Amphibian, happy new year! Just wanted to let you know there's a bedroom that doesn't have a roof over it...? Looked like it doesn't have a door either. Or it might be held open? IDK... it just might cause some issues in the coming cold season... Loving this series so far!
I had this scifi scenario in my head about interstellar colonization being done with data ships where you might see whole planets populated by clones of the same person, this series reminded my of that.
The Shy Squirrel Thanks! I really appreciate the kindness and feedback :) I try to listen back to my commentary regularly to keep improving it, though I really appreciate any feedback on that end if you ever have any too!
If you enable manual priorities, you can do an even better job making sure colonists do some things before other things. Like maybe you want a colonist or 10 who haul primarily, but when there isn't stuff to haul, they can plant
“It’s now 91 degrees Fahrenheit… That’s 35 degrees Celsius. Wow that’s hot!” Literally every single person that lives in the desert: “You call that hot!?” Seriously though, 110 degrees is normal during the Summer where I live-91 degrees is cool.
Ah cool idea - love the sense of progress that would come with that - I'm going to try tobe more organized with my presentation next time, so perhaps I'll include this!
Not finished with this video yet, so unsure if you ever figured it out, but the reason your colonists keep needing rescue in that one spot is that smokeleaf inhibits their stats like movement, consciousness, etc. If they were already nearly incapacitated for another reason (such as the food poisoning), the decreased stats from the smokeleaf will push them over the limit and leaving them needing the rescue.
Happy New Year, Mr. Amphibian!! Here's to another year and to your continued success, may you receive as much joy as you've spread. Thank you for making these videos and for being a sweetheart
" our cook got sick from rice " well no shit, he had to deal with a rice field that as big as a continent to be harvested and consumed on daily basis for years to come.
Happy new year! 😄 Great to see that you managed to get the batteries working at the end, was thinking to write about it. Then you can have more lights that can help against the darkness debuffs. Cheers!!!!
You can do more detailed job management. Just give them their tasks at 1-3 and put everybody's planting to 4 so nobody is idle. Great video though and sorry for my English:D
17:52 "Miner 5, you ... you are ... ok, he is viewing the art, that is fine." (there is no need to punch him) Me: I wonder what would happened to him, if his taste in art would be different.
I really think that you should push for a Nutrient Paste Dispenser after you get refrigeration. Ascetics shouldn’t mind the horrible taste of the paste and it uses less resources than simple meals. All around a win for your colony.
Dunno if you got this advice last episode, but you should give nutrient paste dispensers a go Since all your colonists are ascetic they won't mind the food, it saves lots of people working day in and day out to constantly pump out meals, no chance of food poisoning and it takes less food to make meals Only downsides is that I don't know many dispensers you'd need for 100 colonists(they're pretty bulky) and it takes electricity to run so if there's a solar flare you either need a backup supply of meals or make them munch on raw rice Happy new year btw
35 Celsius: "that's really hot" Me who live in a third world country without air conditioning and has been living on that heat since birth: "I'm sorry, is this some sort of rich problem that I'm too poor to understand?"
Happy new year!, keep up these videos I and surely others enjoy them too, you could tame the boomalopes and milk them for chemfuel which could feed the chemfuel power generator instead of the wood fueled one since you are low on wood
That movie where the guy cuts off his arm, was it the mountain climbing one or something where he gets stuck in a ravine I think? If that's it, I don't know what it was about that movie but I literally damn near passed out during that scene I'm pretty sure. I've watched horror movies and other stuff like that in the past with no issues but I must have just gotten really into that movie and put myself in that position. I might've also thrown up? Or came close to it. That was certainly something I never would have expected would happen to me.
Thanks a lot Daniel! Huh really? That's really interesting! I'm really interested in optimizing grow times, though I've never done any experiments like this - sounds cool, and maybe I'll give it a shot at some point...

The doctor who had to do surgery but never even used a band aid before had me laughing so hard
Loving these crazy challenges you come up with. Keep at it!
Happy new year ! been really liking the video ideas!
Happy New Year, Mr. Amphibian!!
Here's to another year and to your continued success, may you receive as much joy as you've spread.
Thank you for making these videos and for being a sweetheart
I love this series and this is a great idea! You should probably move horseshoesticks to diningroom to get impressive rec room moodbonus! :)
If one of the doctors ever gets addicted to anything you should definitely name them House.
RIP Riku gets turned into a hat after fighting for you
You can right click to one-click dismiss event letters...I only learned this a few days ago.
I have hundreds of hours in this game.
Thanks.
Your commentary is top tier my dude
"The massive slaughter of everyone in our colony. This can come in many forms." --An Apt description of Rimworld.
" our cook got sick from rice "
well no shit, he had to deal with a rice field that as big as a continent to be harvested and consumed on daily basis for years to come.
Happy new year! 😄
Great to see that you managed to get the batteries working at the end, was thinking to write about it.
Then you can have more lights that can help against the darkness debuffs.
Cheers!!!!
You can do more detailed job management. Just give them their tasks at 1-3 and put everybody's planting to 4 so nobody is idle.
Great video though and sorry for my English:D
17:52 "Miner 5, you ... you are ... ok, he is viewing the art, that is fine." (there is no need to punch him)
Me: I wonder what would happened to him, if his taste in art would be different.
I don’t even know what this game is but I love it
31:33 I never thought I would hear those words together in a sentence.
this series is great keep it up man and good luck with rage randy lolz :3
Haha, thanks lizard

When I saw him put the bill of pag leg on the doctor, I was like, dam, now everyone is a pirate.
"ive never even given someone a bandaid" I snortled (a chuckle and snort)
I really think that you should push for a Nutrient Paste Dispenser after you get refrigeration. Ascetics shouldn’t mind the horrible taste of the paste and it uses less resources than simple meals. All around a win for your colony.
Ironsides1985 he said you need a construction skill of 5
127 hours is the movie you're thinking of where the guy had to to cut off his arm to escape where he got stuck.
"Someone bite him on the leg and now he's going to die from a leg infection" That's some bad dental hygiene right there.
Colonist: starving
Amphibious: theres food right in front of you
Colonist:...i dont want that kind. >:[
24:46 the stormtroopers where born! lol
Dunno if you got this advice last episode, but you should give nutrient paste dispensers a go
Since all your colonists are ascetic they won't mind the food, it saves lots of people working day in and day out to constantly pump out meals, no chance of food poisoning and it takes less food to make meals
Only downsides is that I don't know many dispensers you'd need for 100 colonists(they're pretty bulky) and it takes electricity to run so if there's a solar flare you either need a backup supply of meals or make them munch on raw rice
Happy new year btw
I forgot that you need construction sill to build dispensers lol, gl
doctor 5: goes to amputate leg
doctor 5: accidentally chops off said leg
35 Celsius: "that's really hot"
Me who live in a third world country without air conditioning and has been living on that heat since birth: "I'm sorry, is this some sort of rich problem that I'm too poor to understand?"
35 Celsius, boy that's hot! *Australians laughing in the distance*
This series is a great idea, i really wonder how things will go. Cheers !
Happy new year!, keep up these videos I and surely others enjoy them too, you could tame the boomalopes and milk them for chemfuel which could feed the chemfuel power generator instead of the wood fueled one since you are low on wood
Thanks! I really appreciate it! :) And that might work - we defintiely have a lot of them in this region now that you mention it!
That was certainly something I never would have expected would happen to me.
he is creating ram ranch and he doesn't even realize
Nature is the best cook
I enjoy your videos very much , they are unique and very entertaining
20:23 sounds like a zombie movie plot to me
Yo homie love the series. Rice grows slower than potatoes on normal soil. Rice grows faster than potatoes on fertile soil
Thanks a lot Daniel! Huh really? That's really interesting! I'm really interested in optimizing grow times, though I've never done any experiments like this - sounds cool, and maybe I'll give it a shot at some point...
@@ambiguousamphibian Potatoes have a 40% fertility sensitivity and Rice has a 100% fertility sensitivity. Rice does better in good soils but potatoes do better in poor to average soils. Keep up the series!
These series are amazing
this series is hilarious
Hey, you can speed up farming (planting, plant cutting) by making a seperate sleeping area above the farmland. Then move the storage and Cook area to the top of the current sleeping area. this cuts down on travel.
Happy new year, wish you & yours all good things
A yes, a wild colony of Vin Diesels. They seem to be doing well so far.
