I find you very critical about Chinese cars drives , I have been driving a Chery for two years now with absolutely no issues , my partner drives a VW with a DSG gearbox which has been problematic since purchased new with a clunky gearbox , I have work colleagues that drive the TOYOYA across and hate it for lack of power etc , they prefer the drive my my Chery , I find that lately all car journalists criticise Chinese brands , the main establishment brands are not that good anymore and are pricy as well , so my view is we drive what we can afford and enjoy the ride

Sean, look man. Uhmmm...I am on the fence on this one. I appreciate the wave of Chinese vehicles into our market, they're bold and packed with features. I think legacy brands have been charging us an arm and a leg for far too long. Problem is I'm yet to hear of any of the Chinese auto groups actually setting up assembly plants and parts warehouses in our country. It's all fun and games seeing the Chinese elbowing out the Europeans, Koreans and Japanese, until factories close down and people lose their jobs.

I think in terms of the market it's great for consumers in the long term because now we will see whats real value and whats not. The brands that will survive, legacy or not in my opinion are the one's that in the long term give consumers value.
We've seen from history that when the Chinese or any other brands for that matter didn't give products that are good they didn't survive long term. Now some of the legacy brands are suffering because the other brands (some of them Chinese) have helped most consumers get away from badge bias and look at value.
Thank you for an honest review. Can't wait to see your review of the new X3 from a "luxury" product perspective.

The damn thing has gotten uglier, like all the other products in the BMW stable.

After renting a jolion with the erratic start off a fuel consumption of 12 l/100 km - this car is even more of a frightening purchase proposition. I wouldn’t touch it

    • @wcrash9361

I’ve never heard anyone getting that number in a jolion. The hybrid jolion is much better than a Corolla cross hybrid

I've heard so many people complaining about ridiculous fuel consumption numbers on the jolion, someone even said they were getting 13,9 on eco mode.

These cheap imports and cheap in R&D, subsidised by Chinese government is going to affect our local car manufacturing. Great for market choice bad for employment.

Comparing this car to a hybrid makes no sense... compare apples with apples

    • @snautomotive

Do consumers not compare cars because their drivetrains are different, or do they shop based on price? I think it’s the latter.

Should have been compared to the Corolla Cross 1.8 XR @ 480k. NOT the bottom of the range hybrid. Do some better research next time. A reminder of your slip up with specs on the Omoda review?

Cheap and too small a turbo can cause lag and inefficient pull off etc. Time will tell the actual worth or longevity of these Chyneese vehicles.

What a stupid review, you can’t compare a hybrid to a petrol car. At least be realistic if your going yo do car reviews

I think the comparison was about the cost of ownership, because thanks to the ridiculous fuel consumption it actually not cheaper to own than the more expensive Corolla cross hybrid.

Sean my Mann! Always the best in-depth reviews. My concern is Are we bashing the Chinese products this much on fuel consumption? Is it not because they still new cars? Do we have owners who can come forward and say ownership after say 45000km what is fuel consumption looking like? I mean somehow I do trust the Chinese for me only concern is there are just too many options now they literally confusing us🫢😮‍💨🤞🏾

    • @snautomotive
      @snautomotive День тому +1

Fair comment there! I’ve spent thousands of kilometres in the newer Chinese products and the fuel economy remains a sticking point even at higher mileage. I’m sure they will get this right soon, and I’m hoping my feedback helps this come about quicker. Thank you for watching and for your support!😁

Hi , been driving a chery with turbo engine now for two years and 35000km , get an average of 7,5 L per km , never had an issue and still drives like a dream
