Remember when we had a kicker who could boot some serious field goals but wasn’t “competitive at practice” so he left the team? Sad times to not give anyone else shots to step up in game when adrenaline and effort really comes to be seen.
Been a fan since 2006 and graduated summa cum laude from the engineering school in 2012. Never have I been more embarrassed FOR my school and the kids representing them this past Saturday. I will never be embarrassed OF my school and the players but I am embarrassed FOR them. After what happened against Notre Dame and the team from Clarke County to end last year, it was a mistake to bring this coach and his staff back. There is only one man who ties all of the failures together and it doesn't matter who you bring in to run the offense and the defense. I hate it for him since this was his dream job and he seems like a decent guy, but I want Tech to get back to where it was competing for ACC championships like we were during my college years there. I am currently at another ACC school in a professional position and the difference between that program's competence and what we are seeing from Tech right now is night and day. I am not a blind homer nor am I a cynic, but this was just embarrassing. It has to end NOW. If you want to be serious about football, you can't worry about the buyout. Serious schools don't worry about buyouts. It is time to hit reset, clean house, and at least put a new voice in charge for the rest of the season while we position ourselves for a new HC AND a new AD. Stansbury has done a decent to fairly good job with non-revenue sports but this hire has to have consequences. Thanks, Bryce, for being classy and sticking to your mission. Recently found your channel and enjoying the content. One day we will find a way back to that feeling we had on a rainy November afternoon in Athens in 2008 when all was right in the college football world. It may take a long, long time to get back there but I know we will climb that mountain again at some point.
What has UGA , or loosing to the Dawgs have to do with GT sucking so bad ? Nothing. I'll bet the yellow bugs would struggle in the Sun Belt, and that's not a slight on them at all. For the SB East (Garbage St, GaSo, Coastal, App, OSU, JMU, and Marshall) GT is a very winnable game. They should be relegated to the AAC or C-USA.
Georgia Tech has come a long way as far as regional and national recognition. We cannot continue to play high level teams and perform this poorly. We should at least lose with dignity, and we should improve when we lose. Update: support this channel because this guy is speaking facts! We are on national TV!
I recall an overheard conversation that should be mentioned here as we consider how we got so far into this wilderness. A Tech alum that has given seven-figures to our school approached the AD at halftime of a minor sports game last year right after UGA had just blown us out and we had re-upped with Collins once again. I decided to dwell nearby for a moment to catch what was being said. Prominent Alum: Collins was simply a bad choice. He’s a blowhard with a terrible record - truly out of his depth. Why stick with him? Why not just cut the cards? We have to own our bad decisions. (AD) Todd Stansbury: We have to go another year. Let’s see what he can do. Please support that decision. Alum: I employ thousands. When the performance isn’t there, I cut the cards, regardless of the salary. Stansbury: There’s a big buyout clause. It’s a tough call to make. Alum: Nope. It’s an easy call, and we need to shoot the fool that negotiated that contract. Collins was then, and is now, a mediocre coach, at best. Why did we offer him a contract that is so rich and causes you to get all weak over cutting the cards on this guy? In business we are taught to, and always seek to disregard “sunk cost”. The guy that negotiated that contract wasn’t a businessman, he was a fan-boy. Stansbury: I hear you. Please stick with us over this next year. He’s about to come good for us. It was fascinating. Stansbury never met the eyes of the alum, who shook his head and walked away to take his seat and turn his attention to a sport we win consistently: Volleyball.
Stansbury will defend his man no matter what. But if you're going to ride the ship and it falls then he goes down with it. Stansbury and Collins both need to be fired. Stansbury made one of the worst choices in Tech history and it's going to cost us for a long time.
I'm not sure why bringing back the triple option sounds crazy. It was a lot of fun to watch. College Football is dynamic and there are ebbs and flows of who is dominant in the sport. I've been watching GT football since the early '90s, and I like to see them win and be competitive. There can only be 1 national champion every year, and I do not expect it to be GT every year. Give me a conference championship (or make it to the game) and crack the top 10 every once in a while. Why is that a bad goal? From my view, most of the option coaches are serious tacticians and break things down on a granular level to fix problems. The option is not just about the offense, it is also about clock management and keeping your D off the field and their D on the field. One of the biggest signs of Collins' inability as a coach has been the immediate break down in the kicking game. We went from a solid true freshman doing a pretty good job, to not being able to make a FG or extra point the very next year. I'd take grumpy PJ (or those of his ilk) over uber hype GC any day.
The Paul johnson style was working somewhat but it also told any serious D1 recruit to avoid this place at all costs.Grorge O Leary was very successful because he was a real football coach and ran offenses that young athletes wanted to play for.
Agree there are a lot of foundational issues with this team and it needs to be fixed in a hurry, however the current staff is incapable of making the necessary corrections. As for Simms not being developed, most of that falls squarely on Simms. Coaching will only take him so far and he has to be willing to take the reigns. Not sure why everyone is treating him with kid gloves - he clearly does not have what it takes to be QB1 in a P5 program. I have been saying that for 2yrs. He may be athletic and have a strong arm, but he cannot complete a 10 yard pass or hit 40 yarders on a consistent basis so what is the point. There are 3 other QB's on the team that cannot possibly be worse. Simms looked like he did not even want to be on the field yesterday. No fire, no energy, just seemed like he was giving up. In fact it seemed like the whole team quit yesterday. These kids deserve better - hopefully help is on the way with a new staff.

I 100% agree about the QB situation. I would love to see what the other kids can do. Geoff Collins is really over his head. We brought in Chip Long and the play calling is vanilla, predictable and just easy to defend. It probably is the O Line that is hampering the offense. Pitt will kill us, UCF will probably beat us. This is the lowest the program has ever been and that includes the Bill Lewis years. So depressing.
Spot on across the board. Especially with the point about Georgia State playing well and about Tech not going back to the option. We’re never going back
Thank you. I disagree with the recruiting challenges from academics... Why? Well we're still able to field a full roster so there are plenty of players that can meet the requirements. Lame excuse heard way too often. Here in Metro Atlanta, there are plenty of great HS players with decent academics.
There is a reason that players go into the portal. 95% of those in the portal are not good enough to start where they are...and we want them? What happened to recruiting.....oh that's right we see the reality. We need a coach that can scheme on both sides of the ball. Tenuta on Defense and CPJ on offense.
Todd Stansbury screwed up by signing an unproven coach to a 7-year $23.1M contract. Collins might have been a good recruiter with some GT ties, but he was less than impressive at Temple. The buyout is $10.5M if he gets fired within the first 4 seasons. After that (i.e. next year) the buyout drops to $2.4M. So Todd is just waiting it out to save GT $8.1M because there is nothing to save this season even if we fire Collins right now. If he had any conscience, Collins should just quit or retire because right now he's just stealing money. And Todd should resign.
GT has made the correct decision to fire both the head coach and the athletic director. If I was choosing a top 2 list for the next head coach my short list would be the following coaches. 1. Matt Luke 2. Dan Mullen Tech needs a head coach now that knows how to deal with a difficult situation and can get the most out of offensive talent they have. Both of these coaches could do that. Both would be humble enough to hire a defensive coordinator that would really work on getting the defense to just play smart football.
As an outsider, I wonder how Tech fans feel about the university's commitment to its football program. I've heard a few people talk about it. Any thoughts?
We are not a good team. Still have to wait till the end of the season to judge though. We were probably going to lose to these teams regardless. Georgia is also a loss. Every other game is still winnable if the players are not giving up. Collins still needs to go. I don't want to be a school that relies on transfer players to make up for a lack of high school recruiting. Nothing against the transfers. I am happy they chose Tech and will welcome anyone who chooses tech, but in a developmental football program you need a system for players to grow for 3-5 years. Transfers can help but you cant rely on them to save your job. That is exactly what this is. When has GT ever allowed so many transfers?
The triple option offense made the team competitive but under certain conditions. It's a frontrunner offense. I was going to give the new offense some time to convert, but damm! Both sides of the ball kind of suck, and I HATE bagging on kids.
Any coaches in particular you think the AD could target as candidates for Collins' possible replacement? Btw; Do you think their AD could also get axed as well?
I’ve been a fan my entire life & always will be but it’s obvious GT is going no where under the current coach. Change is needed ASAP! We’re no longer competitive.

Its just pitiful... I mean all I've ever known is Georgia Tech Football... but now, I just don't care. And truly wont until Collins is gone. I recently moved to SC and find myself watching the Gamecocks way more than the yellow jackets now, and haven't missed a SC Homegame yet this season and probably wont. Ill always have love for GT, but man I can look at an SC program that struggled too yet there still is hope there... there is no hope left for GT under this current regime.

Competition is King my ass. We won't put in a 2nd string QB. Only a starting 11 more or less on defense. Then on the flip side we won't ride a hot hand with the running back room nor be able to throw receivers open.
The “academics” excuse is hilarious. UGA now has practically the same SAT / ACT / GPA scores as GT, and has achieved almost the same ranking. GT recruits the SAME players as all other schools, and (after looking at the roster) largely major in the same BS degrees. If schools like Stanford, Notre Dame, UNC, etc. can recruit, then so can GT. Again, UGA now has the same admissions standards. Of course recruits would rather go to UGA. Again, almost the same admissions stats, but you enjoy much, much hotter women, a more beautiful campus, better college town, and far superior athletics in Athens. You can keep misidentifying the problem and bemoaning “academics,” but that’ll only prevent you from solving the real issue.

No the option is dead. Teams are building their defenses to STOP the run. We just need a new coach that actually knows what he’s doing.
Defense gave up numbers but the defense wasn’t bad. The offense is terrible! The defense loses hope & momentum after soooo many 3-&-outs
Change is needed! I’ve tried to defend Coach Geoff Collins but I can’t any more. I know he had a tough job but man I just don’t think he’s the guy. It’s horrible & I think we need a change fast!
The 2 worst Asst Coaches from last year were Key & Thacker , yet they were retained while others were fired
Can’t blame you for saying this but it’s crazy to read now
@@thejelliedpumpkin8976
Thacker is an analyst at UGA and key is no longer ruining our OLine Recruits
When key led the OLine they were always ranked between #105 or worse out of 130 FBS programs
As soon as Geep Wade takes over they zoom up to the middle of the FBS rankings in the mid 60s
That's why we won 7 games last yr, the OLine improved, key didn't improve at all - key benefitted from himself no longer coaching the OLine
He'll be exposed as a weak link soon rather than later
I stand by my words from a yr ago
@@johndooley5928 Key took one of the worst teams in the country and finished the season 4-4 with no prep. He has so far done a great job putting good coaches around him and that’s what you want out of a head coach. He is is absolutely not the weak link
I 100% agree about the QB situation. I would love to see what the other kids can do. Geoff Collins is really over his head. We brought in Chip Long and the play calling is vanilla, predictable and just easy to defend. It probably is the O Line that is hampering the offense. I graduated from Tech in 1992, I was there during the Ross years. I feel bad for the fan base and student body. I donate to the school, I am a season ticket holder and support Tech. My son is a Soph IE major but he doesnt get excited about Football because there is no excitement there. GT will struggle to win anymore games this season. Duke is no guarantee. Pitt will kill us, UCF will probably beat us. This is the lowest the program has ever been and that includes the Bill Lewis years. So depressing.
I completely agree, the one guy is probably okay he was recruited by Clemson. Someone else needs a shot it will bring out the best in the qb group.
I think the majority of us fans wanted real change at the end of last year but it is what it is
Spot on across the board. Especially with the point about Georgia State playing well and about Tech not going back to the option. We’re never going back
Little Joe wasn't the QB in '90. It was Shawn Jones.
Misspoke … meant to say the 90s
He said everything, nothing else to say, hurts saying that GT is at the bottom of college football and wishing to just win 6 games
Simms has quit on team. There. I said it.
Facts .. ion blame him tbh
At least GT isn't the only Atlanta team that sucks. Georgia State, and the Atlanta Falcons.
Great job on the podcast! Appreciate your breakdowns!!
Only 1 Power Conference Football team has a lower Power Rating after this weekend...Call it the curse of 1990! It's Colorado. :(
With all the corporate money in Atlanta why isn't Tech reaching out to some these people
Love the channel. Keep it up
Thank you. I disagree with the recruiting challenges from academics...
Why?
Well we're still able to field a full roster so there are plenty of players that can meet the requirements.
Lame excuse heard way too often. Here in Metro Atlanta, there are plenty of great HS players with decent academics.
Welcome to the club. Brutally honest. It's tons of fun.
This is how Tulane became Tulane.
Worst part about this...Tulane is 3-0 with a win this year at Kansas State
I miss Paul Johnson and the Triple Option. Period.
I still can’t understand how bad they have been considering there in the prime spot for talent. Tons of people from all over are moving to the area.
Collins can not coach another game at GT!
I disagree...I don't think he ever coached at all.
GT has made the correct decision to fire both the head coach and the athletic director. If I was choosing a top 2 list for the next head coach my short list would be the following coaches.
1. Matt Luke
2. Dan Mullen
Tech needs a head coach now that knows how to deal with a difficult situation and can get the most out of offensive talent they have. Both of these coaches could do that. Both would be humble enough to hire a defensive coordinator that would really work on getting the defense to just play smart football.
Great take sir
Well, it is noon of the 19th, and he isn't gone.
As an outsider, I wonder how Tech fans feel about the university's commitment to its football program. I've heard a few people talk about it. Any thoughts?
Probably the biggest question in general. Great point
All good points but Joe Hamilton played in late 90s. Shawn Jones was qb in 90. Just wanted to make that clear for you.
Yep…misspoke there
Totally agree with them being undersized! I've been saying this from CGC started. Great valid points!
He came up with the "money down" third down defense slogan., turns out it is always money for the other team.
🤦♂️ Bryce, 2 weeks ago you said that this team was much improved. What happened to that??
Today I am having my crow supper , from now on I will be ruthless on Collins and company
The triple option offense made the team competitive but under certain conditions. It's a frontrunner offense. I was going to give the new offense some time to convert, but damm! Both sides of the ball kind of suck, and I HATE bagging on kids.
We don’t go to tech for football…
No development whatsoever. Key hasn't improved the oline. Sims seems to not care.
Any coaches in particular you think the AD could target as candidates for Collins' possible replacement?
Btw; Do you think their AD could also get axed as well?
Finally, he asks the correct question... Good show...
Next Question, who do we hire 🤔
Thank you! Nobody seems to think that far
I knew this will happen yesterday game Collins should fired the DC after the Georgia game last November
I’ve been a fan my entire life & always will be but it’s obvious GT is going no where under the current coach. Change is needed ASAP! We’re no longer competitive.
2 years later and we can all agree GC has no place as a coach here
And your right I didn’t see kenyetta get in not once !
Atleast under the triple option you could run the ball and stop the run
Running the triple option had no impact on being able to stop the run
@@TheCrowdedBooth 😂😂😂 sure ..... Gt had good to sometimes great running teams and their defense went up against it everyday in practice so......🤦🏽♂️

Hey brice who would tech have in mind if they did fire coach Collins?
Its just pitiful... I mean all I've ever known is Georgia Tech Football... but now, I just don't care. And truly wont until Collins is gone. I recently moved to SC and find myself watching the Gamecocks way more than the yellow jackets now, and haven't missed a SC Homegame yet this season and probably wont. Ill always have love for GT, but man I can look at an SC program that struggled too yet there still is hope there... there is no hope left for GT under this current regime.
According to Kelly. The AD and Geoff are most likely gone
Man I hope this is true. I don’t think Standsbury cares
i think he does. Other sports programs are faring well. I just think he bought into Collin nonsense hook line and sinker
@@awildsuperbob7466 good point
We’ve done pretty well at most sports not named football. It’s a shame Stansbury is gonna lose his job strictly based on Collins
Why did Kelly block you 😂

THANK YOU.
re: the conversation about the defensive secondary and depth
Really collins fault man went into halftime with not a single timeout used !
Emergency firing is in order. We've hit rock bottom guys time to empty house
Y’all seen that video of Thacker just sitting down doing nothing . And the offense not helping sims up after he get sacked !
Has no identity. At least with pj's triple option, thete was something teams feared or respected. They need to go back to that. They will never be prostyle.
Go get Todd Monken from Georgia or Deion Sanders for coach
Monken really isn’t interested in leaving UGA … Deion isn’t coming
Losing your job is ok if you don’t lose your paycheck
Georgia tech football will be a acc contender again I believe in the team
Idek why Lamiles brooks is playing Safety that’s not his position
Why wasn't Dontae Smith given more carries? Guy is a major talent!
He’s been banged up
Competition is King my ass. We won't put in a 2nd string QB. Only a starting 11 more or less on defense. Then on the flip side we won't ride a hot hand with the running back room nor be able to throw receivers open.
Kelly Q. blocked you? Why is that?
Because he couldn’t handle the truth

Go Dawgs!
We play Kent St this week and GT is still a bigger cupcake. 😂
I think Georgia Tech would be a good fit for Coach Prime.
Not gonna happen
Excuse me but 1990 was Shawn Jones
98-99 was Joe Ham
Among the Top100 HS FB Recruits in GA, maybe 70-80 are Academic Qualifiers for GT as a FB Recruit, so I'm not sure that Academics is an issue
How much NIL money did they make for this weeks game? College football is DEAD , my friend, Only the professional version remains.
What are you talking about
Simple fact. Tech doesn’t have the money to bring in quality coaching or AD.
Fire their tails now
You lost me at Zach Gibson, that kid can't play dead in a Western
Might wanna check your facts Mr Koon, few to zero QBs would transfer to GT to play behind this crap OLine , only guys like Gibson with very low ceilings would transfer to GT with an OLine this poor
Please investigate WHY Key & Thacker were retained and Patenaude was fired?
Thanks in advance
Ole Miss really not that good. We just sucked😂
No, Ole Miss is actually really good, your wrong.
@@rmathis268 naw they ain’t
@@rmathis268 and I’m not going into detail. Tech could of beat Ole miss. It’s just Collins has lost this the team.
@@markieschofieldjr9076 Both are true, Ole Miss hasn't just began winning this year, this is a trend that's been happening for a few years now. I watch College Football a lot and I know they are a legit solid top 20 team. Tech is very bad and has no real identity with poor coaching.
Both are correct.
Go get Paul Johnson back! No jokes! That dude could coach! He could take the talent on the field, right now, and get them to play with some integrity and win games. And do you honestly look down your nose at option coaching with where this program is at right now? That’s totally insane if you feel that way! Tech can’t recruit! It’s simple! No really talented division 1 football player wants to come to Tech. And it’s not about the education, top tier athletes don’t care about the education that you can get at Tech. That’s just facts. Top tier football players want to play on Sunday and get a hefty signing bonus on signing day!
