  • LiHey guys and welcome back! Another video already, and I thought I'd share the exciting process of finding a PhD for those who might be struggling with it. This video includes the process by which I found my PhD at Cambridge University and how you can also find a fully-funded studentship at any university in the world.
If you enjoy the video then please leave a like and consider subscribing to the channel. I talk through all things student, organisation and productivity. I am hoping to be able to monetise my videos when I reach the monetisation threshold after which all the initial earnings will go directly into making better quality content for you.

Hey, thanks for stating about your rejection. I got rejected after my PhD interview at cambridge recently, it was heartbreaking but also motivating at the same time, because before I didn't know that I can make this far. Trying to focus on other interviews and applications for now. Keep sharing your vidoes Cameron. Ciao!

Ciao @bhargvisharan! Yeah it sucks getting rejected and it has happened a number of times to me.
I think it's important to acknowledge and reflect on rejections because after all they are all part of the process of getting to the right place, and they teach you what to do right for next time!
And I'm glad I got rejected to the Cambridge research assistant role because it led to me getting my PhD which I definitely prefer!! ;)

Hey Cameron! Undergrad econ student here hoping to get into a good graduate research programme in lieu of my research interests in developmental economics and causal inference. I just wanted to thank you for making these wonderful and informative videos as I too aspire to one day pursue a PhD from one of these top instiutions.
I haven't been through all your videos yet (will catch up soon) but I wanted to ask about the sort of effort you put in to provide yourself with more research opportunities and bolster your pre-PhD resume. Did you apply for as many positions (quasi academic/academic) as you could/did you benefit from taking additional courses/trainings and such?
Again, thanking you for all the advice!

Hey and thank you so much for watching the video! :)
Ah, undergraduate life... the glory years! So before I did my PhD I did two main research projects, the Structured Health Intervention for Truckers study part-time during my undergrad and my Public Health master's dissertation where I conducted my own study. These formed the main bulk of my CV in my PhD application.
There are varieties of ways to find part-time research work and I go through them in my "How to Make Extra Income as a Uni Student" video. Basically you can either go through a platform like Indeed or LinkedIn, or quite often your department could email you for any relevant opportunities which I would ALWAYS apply to!
I didn't actually do too many "training courses" or anything additional pre-PhD. I learned better through practical research experience and only started courses, per se, in my PhD training. :)
I hope this helps and if you've got any more questions shoot them my way. :)
