Blue Fly, 60yrs ago my Aunt Jo gifted me my first pieces of blue transfer dishes from England. In 1995 I was fortunate to visit the Spode factory in England and finished my collection. Our oldest daughter just began a new journey in her life and she had mentioned how much she admired the blue and white set. Yup you know what happened next, I was overjoyed to gift them to her!!! The love of blue and white will go on for another 100 yrs don't you think? Your warm and lovely home is a perfect backdrop for them. Well done Blue Fly!!!

Hi Bev from auld Blighty, although I was born and grew up in Bulgaria 😊, talking about peaches my granny and mum used to make special sugared biscuits that looked like peaches. I'm planning to make some this year for Christmas, so I thought to share the recipe, since you are planning to do some baking yourself. I hope you'll give them a try. BTW I am a fan of the green Spode transferwear, but even in the UK, these are rather difficult to come by.
Sugared Peaches recipe:
Ingredients for the dough:
350g plain flour
2 eggs
60g salted butter
60g sour cream (or thick yoghurt)
1tsp baking powder
100 to 150g sugar
1tsp vanilla paste
For the cream:
2 tbs caramelised condensed milk ( boil tin of condensed milk to make it, dulce de leche)
2 tbs peach or apricot jam
A drop of almond extract ( no more than that)
2 tbs of the crumbs from scooping the inside of the biscuits
To achieve the peach blush:
Bowl of sugar to roll into
1 bowl of peach juice with little yellow food colour
1 bowl of peach juice with little red food colour
To make:
Mix soft, slightly sticky dough, by beating egg and sugar till pale and doubled in size, add vanilla paste, and beat in the butter. Mix the baking powder with the yougurt and add to your egg mix. Add the flour and make the dough. With oiled hands, scoop balls the size of walnuts and lay on the baking parchment, pressing very gently so they resemble half of a ball. Bake in moderate oven untill first blush. Take out, and whilst warm ( not hot), scoop the underside ( flat bottom) of each buiscuit gently to create space for the cream. Keep the crumbs you'll need them.
For the cream: combine the dulce de leche (condensed milk caramel) with the jam almond extract and fine buiscuit crumbs. Make sure your buiscuits are completely cooled. Scoop a small amount and put in the hollow of each buiscuit, then sandwich two biscuits together so they resemble a peach.
To make them blush: take each sandwiched buiscuit and gently and quickly dip ( dip for a second, don't soak) one side in the yellow juice and the other in the red juice, then roll in the sugar and place in individual parchment cups. You can add mint leaves to complete the fresh peach look. They are best if they stay overnight in the fridge, and make a pretty addition to afternoon tea tray petit fours 🫖 I hope you'll give them a try 😊

Beverly, your blue and white Spode dishes look stunning against your gorgeous open hutch. Oh my, what a find! Old English polish certainly rejuvenates wood pieces. Your new greenery will enhance your decor beautifully. My sister frequents estate sales in southern Florida and sends me lovely Spode dishes for my collection. Tea prepared with an electric tea kettle in a pretty teapot is a great way to enjoy a cuppa! I don't save my pretty teapots just for "good," every day is good! Love your hutch and dishes , I purchased a beautiful hutch , table and chairs about six years ago from a lady changing out her decor for 800. It’s the dark finish and I have it loaded with the cranberry and white transferware that I had been collecting for years. It makes my heart so happy every time I look at it.

Funny thing about the cottage cheese and fruit. My mom served us a couple lettuce leaves with a peach half or two on top with cottage cheese scooped into the peach halves. I still do this today and still love it. Your video was beautiful, as usual. I always enjoy watching your finds and decorating.

I bought those peaches at Costco today as well and I am going back for another after Thanksgiving to display as well in my two smaller maple buffets. I find your videos so enjoyable and they inspire me to rethink some of my decorating decisions as well. I am making a good faith effort to use what I have, but I may venture out for selected treasures after the holidays. Love the blue and white Spode. I have the traditional Christmas Tree Spode pattern which comes out after Thanksgiving, and I have the lovely teapot that a friend brought me from Harrads in London on one of her trips back from Scotland now about 40 years ago. So special.💙🙏💙

Your haul is beautiful as usual. The hutch is amazing! Everything is so pretty. We always ate cottage cheese with peaches growing up. I think it was a thing in the 60's and 70's and maybe 80's.

Donna here, I also had a German mother. We always liked quark with our fruit, and my mom tried forever to find how to make quark here in the US, but it never turned out right. I'm in my mid 60s and miss authentic german food very much!

I have been collecting blue and white transferware for over 40 years now. It is still my favorite. I eat off them everyday too! THose and my collection of tarnished silver trays, candlesticks, pitchers, pedestal dishes, sugar and creamers. I just feel it makes my kitchen so cozy. Love the color and carving of the hutch. I am madly in love with your hutch. It is absolutely gorgeous and spectacular. I could only wish that I would be able to find things like you do. I don’t know how you do it. Love how you styled your hutch as well. Regarding the cottage cheese, I always purchase the pineapple and cottage cheese at the grocery store. I enjoy plain cottage cheese with some canned fruit that I add in also.

I thought of you when I saw a tree made of all hydrangas in a square basket like the one your little tree was in, and then they had single lightly "flocked" pine pieces pointing down all around the top of the basket. Everything looks so wonderful in your new hutch but I am in love with Blue Italian Spode. I have had it for many years and it never gets old.
