I love my motif es8 as a master keyboard with additional modx7 through midi, when i want that rich digital sounds and light portable keyboard. This combo has all what im expecting from keyboards. Great video, thx.
Totally agree with you. Motif es8 is the perfect master keyboard. Personally it gives me great confidence sitting around this board. Love that all the patches are useable and sound very professional. Thanks for sharing your thoughts. Appreciate your feedback. Blessings.
I finally broke down and ordered a Motif ES8 and will use it as my Master Midi Keyboard despite all the hype for MPE controllers with Poly AT! I want the better weighted action and more realistic feel of a piano after all
I love the MOTIF ES8 and the XF8 because of the look and the warmth piano sounds like the Full Grand Mellow Grand and the Natural Grand S6 the Woody S6 and all the Ep's and the polyphony GREAT KEYBOARDS
I agree...the ES kept the higher sequencer count over the XS...Thats why I never bought the XS. A workstation without a high note sequencer is useless unless youre going straight to your DAW but having that DAW like feature on the board its self is incredibly useful
@doraysmith appreciate your feedback and contribution to the conversation. Yes ES sequencer is incredible... not to mention the mastering effects. Effects on this board is dope.
I agree with you brother, the Motifs changed the game. I've had all the Motif series and just changed over to my first Montage 2 months ago when I picked up my Montage M. My first Roland was the D10 then the Fantom G6 and finally the Fantom that came out around 4-5 years ago. I ended up selling all of them except the G6 because I love the screen size. My primary gigging keyboards are currently the Montage M and the Korg Kronos. Great review though.
I know nothing about pianos, keyboards, arrangers, synthesizers etc. But my wife has a bug to learn how to play the piano, I do not want a starter anything and nothing cheap. Would the Motif's be a good buy for that, since they are cheap to find? I want to do more than just play the piano.
Hello @charliewilson3234 The motif would be a great keyboard to start with. Piano sounds are very realistic and gives a natural feel to it. Motif es 6,7 or 8 highly recommended. But any of the motifs would be good.
Motif was the way to go back then. Then people started getting Nords. For me the motif is still the standard! Motif Classic is my favorite because of the Power Grand Piano! I like the ES because of the prophy synth!
Agree with you angelotheepianist. Motif is still holding its ground in 2024. Thanks for sharing your thoughts on this subject. Appreciate the feedback.
Well no. Thanks for your comment.. appreciate it. I think the XF is better than XS. Also think In a lot of ways XF has better capabilities than ES. But for some strange reason if I had to chose I would take ES over all the motif series. Just love that classic sound and punch that the ES gives.
Thanks for the video. I want to add a yamaha to my arsenal and almost pulled the trigger on the basic motif, I'm glad I watched this first.
Glad it helped. I am confident that you will be happy with this board. Great choice.

Motif ES7. All the way... And my xp80. Still my top board. Can't play without it, motif ES7 my bottom
Wow!!! That’s a very nice keyboard rig you have. Two of my favorite boards of all time.
Classic boards that will always be useful.
Thanks for sharing.
Yes Indeed..

Appreciate your feedback. Montage is my next upgrade for sure.
@cgram20 Yeah, I think I'm set for now, well I've been saying that for the last 15 or so years now...lol

I want motif es6 tones you will have sir 🙏
So sorry I don’t have those tones. You can check the Yamaha site. All the best.
great Video BRO☺♥
Thanks much. Appreciate your comment.
But the XS has all the ES sounds plus more, no?
Thanks for your comment. IMHO the ES sound engine gives the patches a slightly richer quality.
@@cgram20very much true 👍🏽
XS for me all the way
👌🏽👍
Talk, talk, talk... Only talk. Turn off that keyboard.
Thanks for your comment.
Horribly ! No sound!!! Wow
My bad. Next time.
