Thanks Jeremy for Answering my question, love all the work all of you do to teach others to live a live more natural
I can't decide which I appreciate more, your vast amount of hands on knowledge or your energetic and passionate delivery of it. Both is the correct answer!
concurred
when it rains, dig up a few spots in your yard that lay low, the worms come up because they would drown and snatch them all up!
Seriously looking forward to pollen collection!
What the hell how did I not get this video right away
Anybody els notice that worms like to chill on the slope of the drainage trey with there head just above the water ? 🪱
Jeremy what about adding to earth earth boxes?. What is the right ration of worms to the box?. I have watched your Build A Series from the start and you have never discussed this. I believe you said one time in one of your videos to add 20 or 30 worms to the earth boxes and everything will take care of it self. Is that still the recommendation?. Please advise. Thank you for all you Gwen and the BAS Crew do for growers . Thank you.
in an earlier season he put i believe 5-10 in the earthboxes, my understanding is whatever number you put in will regulate over time
Hey Jeremy, with your wife undergoing surgery, is there any chance you'll be making RSO? My old man just had knee surgery and is having a terrible time with pain and trying to sleep. I would love to make him something to help.
If you see a white " fuzzy mold " on top of your soil that meens tbh that your doing a good job . Also ppl freak out about little flies . That meens you have a thriving environment and that your soil is ALIVE AND HEALTHY.
If want biodiversity. Collection comes first. Collect from different parts of your property. Otherwise you can order them online. Mix them together in a living bed. I do, it work fantastic and I NEVER change my soil. EVER
If you don't use worm casting in your soil you are doing wrong, worm casting give to the soil all the living matters that your plants need to create a perfect environment
Worms aren't expensive if you buy em' at a bait shop / market that sells them.
I am setting up my own vermicompost farm for my grow. I have heard you said that Clackamascoots feed special amendments straight to his worm for the super soil. I plan to use dairy manure mainly as bedding, what other amendments does Coots add to his worm bin?
I can’t help but notice that you say red wigglers try and escape when the soil gets to dry almost seems like you can use them as an indicator to keep your soil moist I like it
Honestly I doubt that would work out as a benefit. Simply because the plants soil will be too dry for the plant before the worms. I have hundreds in my pot and if I skip a day or two of watering the worms aren’t going anywhere at all lol. But the thriving plant will for sure notice and react to it. So by the time the worms are pissed you plant is WAY more pissed. The worms just keep traveling to where the moisture is in the soil. Down toward the lower middle when the rest dries up.
I just made a 2nd worm bin yesterday! With a reg fabric pot all I have; wrapping the outside with plastic etc cuz not Grassroots, dry out on sides no bueno… After starting watching ur vids I made a worm bin (couple bins inside ea other, 2-layer setup so 3 bins total), then realizing the yard has Tons of leaves so leaf mold pile like 3x3-ish in the shade, now more a compost pile gets thermal occasionally. And now I’m taking the compost/leaf pile as bedding for the worm bins; gotta get use outa the stuff around the yard and scraps from the house!
I had success for PM with neem oil, maybe it was just a fluke ? I foliar sprayed twice and it was gone.
I've always used Neem Oil in the veg cycle to keep any Insects away, but I'm pretty sure it gets rid of PM as well, no problem!
I believe it's even advertised for getting rid of PM..?
Something I expected to hear about on the subject.👍💯🔥✌️😙💨💨💨
I tried to amend my comment and it got deleted?? I wanted to say it is 2 hours from where I live I traveled once to buy 2 cubic yards of this soil/compost.Frog Holler Helper living organic soil/compost Rudolph Stein’s biodynamic preparations dude go down that rabbit hole one part wiccan mysticism and a lot of practical compost and fermentation applied sciences Search about him and his bizarre and somewhat arcane processes really fascinating
Would a worm bin do ok in a garage over winter? I live in the Northeast US so not sure if gets too cold or if temperature is an issue in first place. If anything I’d assume the worms just work slower, but want to make sure..
Great content!!
Jeremy! How can I get more Fermented Horsetail extract? The website says contact BAS but clearly it’s not on the site! Thx Growmie
I second this, also where’s the peach ferment boys?!
Best thing I did was to start understanding worms and adding them to my plant needs.
I've been growing for decade's feeding my red wigglers and letting them feed my soil that feeds my plants. I never knew there was a name for it, or anyone else did it. It was just something I've learned since I began growing my first year of college in 1985. And I'm in the S.E. so it's been tough. Just found your channel, but great finding others who grow like me. ✌️❤️
Hello . I use and dig for earthworms in places where there are horses. Or know someone who has a lot of soil in their compost. I easily dig 100/200 pieces in an hour.
I've noticed how many times you refer to literature, and am sure you have read it, but if you haven't I believe Aldo Leopold A Sand County Almanac would speak to your core. Just a suggestion thanks for all you do
How to make a thriving coco-based organic medium? Are worms necessary or only their castings? Are dry additives necessary or can it be fully liquid nutrition and still organic?
I have a worm bed in a bin that I set up myself using worms that I caught in my front yard. I grew a tomato plant that stretched out to 7 feet this summer!!
Can you spray em5 with the lights on? Or should you spray when lights are off
Please please make an episode on biodynamic farming. You explain things so great n I relate to you alot.
do 90 % plus indicas sometimes finish in 7 weeks ? i got one very close but im pushing for 8.
Yes. Some Northern Lights strains only require 45-55 days of flower. Not all NL strains are the same, especially now, but it was usually 7-9 wks for flowering.
Just keep an good eye on the Trichomes, with a mini scope or a good jewelers loupe. Quite inexpensive, when googling, just now. Wait until most Trich's have turned cloudy, and maybe some still clear, but when they start turning Amber, a sign of Trichomes deteriorating, I know they're ripe!
You probably know all this already!👍💯🔥✌️😙💨💨💨💨💨💨💨
Funny classic quote that fits for the title answer:
If you build it... they will come 😎
Thanks for the knowledge j your a great soilsmen and teacher thanks for your time
I have thousands of nightcrawlers here. Everywhere in these mountains 👍
Cant wait for pollen collection! Cheers bro.
Thanks, Jeremy! Always exciting to see a new video posted! What is the best way to separate the castings from the rest of the materials in the bin? I have an urban worm bin that has been going for about a year. It's full of castings but separating them has been a chore. Thanks in advance!
Feed worms on one side then remove the other your most likely going to have some worms and cocoons but there great to go with the castings. Look up worm castings separating on UA-cam tons of ideas from ones you shake to turn with a motor
Is it a good idea to put "yah-whey" in a earthbox reservoir?
Thanks once again. So much to learn from this dude. Thanks Jeremy appreciate the hell out ya buddy
Appreciated as always man, growers love BAS crew 💚🙏
Since watching your vids and following your progress (big mega thanks ) you inspired me to think outside the box as in my location I’m unable to source certain items - I have been using ground tiger nuts as a top dress wow worms go crazy for them thought I would share, I hope your wife is back up and running asap ☮️❤
Whats the deal with these Asian Jumping Worms. Are they detrimental or beneficial to the cannabis gardener?
Just another type of
Worm redwigglers are the workhorse of worms producing more castings eating more
❤✌🏼 cheers I love worms 🪱
Most pet supplies sell red wigglers. Two dozen usually around $5. Love the channel and BAS!
All the pets stores I went to around here do not sell composting worms
I second this, I got my red wiggles from pet smart!
@@gavinparker7950 Exactly! 👍
@@ahhason don't ask for composting worms ask for red wigglers
@@caseG80 I asked for red wigglers and euro night crawlers and the workers all scratched their heads and looked at me funny. the only place I found it was a hardware store, and they wanted 30 bucks for a little container full of dried up worms. Very sadge around here.
Man we are getting spoiled! Hell yeah Brother!
Hey Jeremy thanks again for another video. Can we go into what each raw amendment does and what it feeds. I know in true living organic he talks about the microbes and the plant are both nitrogen and calcium dependent and how each amendment feeds the biology. Can you go into which ones are better for bacteria and which ones are better for fungi. Is it better to have fungally dominant soil or bacteria? The mulch layer we build starts off a source of food for the fungi but when we mound on top of it doesn't it become food for the bacteria.? Isn't there something about dry mulch and wet mulch?
Diversity is key we want it all
My dude best I know
FAQs are awesome. Learn something new every time!
Bait and tackle stores have them just be careful which ones you choose.
You recommend adding worms to a Clackamas Coots soil?
Coot approved
wormz 4 life!
Thank you as always. This rocks. My urban worm bag just got set up yesterday and worms arrive tomorrow so this is perfect timing.
Is it okay to bring worms indoors from an outdoor worm bin that is in the ground?
Sure
awesome video!
Jeremy, thank you for all the good information and good energy. I live in Oklahoma and I've been rockin' with BAS products since 2015. I'm just now subscribing for whatever reason, but always appreciate your content. You don't waste words or go down many rabbit holes. Straightforward, practical knowledge. I appreciate it!
the buried horn tech man! ancient knowledge from times before microscopes. how did we forget all this?
This video did it.......I'm making a small worm bin and goin to try the build a soil way. It makes good common sense and worth a go
very cool🤙
Watched that growing with fishes with foot and Faust yesterday man I could pick their brains for weeks on end I just got a 200 gallon smart pot and built a pallet on legs so I get maximum airflow for my worm bin ordered a shit ton of all the ingredients from here their bas cascade minerals and plan on running everything through this 200 worm bin for a couple years. Got a new friend to that showed up in my basement garden a sweet tree frog won’t leave been 3 weeks now and he’s at home now that winter has begun he’s more then welcome got some funny pics of him loving it in here. My local worm place makes them right been talking to the owner for awhile now asking his whole process never thermoheated no garage run through it all done right feed kelp and such im pretty impressed
Hey Jeremy, just catching up on these videos now and I was wondering what your opinion is on BSFL composting. I know vermacompost is your preferred method but are there any drawbacks or cons to using BSFL compost in my garden? Hopefully you see this 😅🤝
Hey Thanks for all the great information that you give!!!
Would you put Kashi in when brewing tea’s?
Completely off topic 😂😂 but what would you recommend for amending 3x3 area of native soil already grown in two years never amended with “okay” results.
I’d prolly suggest simply adding the mineral amendment kit from BAS as well as just amending it with craft blend. Def get the mulch layer going, add worms, do a big run of cover crop during and after the amend too to see how everything growing first maybe.
What’s up Jeremy? Super excited for season four to watch everything you do I wish I can get my hands on some of your products thanks for all the contacts and all the knowledge most importantly knowledge is power
I actually have a worm rod you stick in the ground and causes all worms in the area to come up. I then throw them in my garden beds and they have multiplied by the 1000s over the years.
I'm growing more cannabis this year, outdoors entirely and looking for a feeding schedule. I currently use Dr Earth & organic Top soil (50/50 mix) no fertilizer and worked well last year. Too Many opinions out there. Recommendation? Thanks
Hey build a soil. I just got the bokashi kit. I am hearing about about a spout to remove liquid. The one you carry doesn't have one. Should I be removing water. First time doing bokashi.. Appreciate you guys ty
I don’t think the Atlantis stuff is cooky ( hits blunt). I’m a fan of Graham Hancock, he’s showed some evidence of Atlantis being real 12k years ago, sea level went up 400 feet overnight from a comet. Anyway here’s his lecture cheers ua-cam.com/video/nWaibJAxdpo/v-deo.html
Thank you for producing all this valuable content!

awesome video. I was once taught that ‘Thrips’ is both, the plural and singular way to discuss that insect.
Hey was wondering. I have 4 -20 gal that’s running out of room after 3 years. What would be best for dumping and putting into a 3x3 bed? Would you go on the lines of a fresh take and bake. Add more minerals and ?lbs of craftblend? Or just dump in and topdress? Thanks. Love all the content
Have you ever run a more dense crop in an earthbox? I just started some lettuce in mine and I’m wondering what I should do for mulch.
I have a question. Can a pump be used to move the water from a finished compost tea without killing the microbes? I've read varying opinions on this. That the fungi could be damaged?
Anyone have experience with using JWA for bud washing? I need to wash my outdoor buds, but at which step should I include JWA in the bud wash process?
Going into transition with autos but some of my girls got planned about 10 days later. Can I do some bio phos and microbe complete together or should I wait till they are all in flower to start it?
Go to the buildasoil email and they will get back with you. Usually in 48 hours or so. Anytime I have a question about the buildasoil way I shoot them an email.
@@halfpoundharvest7301 typically I get the same results and can possibly get it answered on video this way tho
Thanks for the good content again. However Timber grow lights doesn’t stand behind their products. Shipped me a bunch of lights with an incomplete order that took months to get. Ordered early April and didn’t get til July. Missing parts and a broken light. Spoke to Dan repeatedly at Timber. He was flakey in responding offered several solutions which I took him up on. He then flakes out again for weeks. The. Said ship the entire light back. He didn’t care about my grow suffering for months with inadequate lights due to broken light, latency in responding (dans words) or the time it would be to take the entire light out, send it back, repair it, and send it back to me. And this was an option a month after he said he was just sending me the part to fix it.
Dan then told me I was smearing his company with posts like this after his company failed in all aspects of customer service.
Hi Jeremy, I’m trying to grow Hollands Hope, my seedlings are 3 weeks in but they are still very small, and some of the tips have a slight burn on them, am I doing something wrong?
I currently researching the earth pots and I’m considering designing my own diy version that will properly fit in my designated area. I was wanting to make a layer above the fill line that would mitigate the soil from going anaerobic but still provide the “wick” I was considering a combination of peat/sand, I’ve also seen similar designs such as the auto pots that recommend clay pellets and even aeration. I’m looking for material recommendations that would accomplish this task while keeping my soil problem free. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Quality information. Most appreciated thank you.
If you make your own compost pile the native compost worms will come for free, and you can transfer them into a new worm bin ,same results as tiger worms. Aroha
Is there any benefit to running finished bokashi compost through my worms?
Is their a outdoor grower with your same growing practices that you follow that has a UA-cam channel
i do compost with a lot of apples outside, and the compost is in contact with the ground. its a crazy amount of worms in the compost and the soil is very dark. do you think that wormcastings-compost mixed with soil is enough for me to grow big flowers if i only water with no nutrients in the watertank or do you think i need any nutient in the watertank? of course i will topdress and have worms in my 30 L pots.
Loving your FAQs, as always, thank you Jeremy.
I have 4 worm bins and 12 totes in total. I just heard the spider mites one. I did it all the time. The predictors in the worm farms take the mites. I’ve seen them take them
Have you heard about California new composing laws they are trying to pass through the house.
Crazy thought what if you focused on worms and life in the soil and not the plant 🌵 mind blown powwwwwwww
I run 5gals and 7gals and I run worms all the way through in my pots. It’s the way.
I’m trynna start growing just need help getting started with product 🥺
I really like your shows and have gotten a lot of good information from you. I have a question for you. I had a person to gift me a clone which I placed in my tent with my other plants. Now I realize that the clone had spider mites and the whole tent is infested. The plants have been in flower for 6 weeks now and I am wondering what I should do with the plants. I hope you can help me with the issue! Thank you for the great show.
okay so I have a question you recommended em5 for powder mold but it has peppermint oil in it wouldn't this cause problems when trying to make concentrates from the herb i have always heard to never use any oil based products on flowering plants that it will not separate from the oils in the herb is there any truth to this ?
What if anything would We do different when using your soil outside in 30 gallon fabric pots to keep the soil alive all year for no till gardening
Plus I think it should be said earthworms you dig in your yard are not likely good for indoors even for a casting bed. They don’t stay in beds. Red wrigglers I swear by. They don’t migrate as much when it’s wet.
Yep you right should be crawling around on the floor soon I tried that
Hey Jeremy I have a question. I'm growing my first cannabis plant outdoors and am 4 weeks into flower. I did a top dress about 5 days ago and am seeing what I think is a tiny bit of nute burn. I removed about half of the top dress and watered like normal. Should I remove all of it? Just ride it out? Thanks for your time if you see this
Can you please recommend a quality em5 I can pick-up downunder?
I sorry for you and your wife friends and family at the canna festival when that weird dude stalking the booth on live stream he good content he said he just new country and that is what he decided to do while he is here not even a year later I no longer support his channel thank God I did not purchase beans off him cheap he have my address then.
Does what you feed the worms change whats in the wormcastings ?
gotta love the way you said "Just like in the forest" jajajajja
I had so many worms that they ended up eating the roots, and my plant got dry and sad just because worms were overwhelming the container
Great authentic explanations!
Appreciate your channel.
woohoo Im so excited about the kid kaya pollination vid!
Nematodes are the key to killing bad bugs in your worm bin.
A few runs ago, I had PM during veg. I used a foliare of the Q (fungicidal agent) at 2 tsp per gallon two days in a row. PM was gone. During flower may be another question. However, I have found the Q to be pretty gentle.
What do you think of Hugelkulture mounds?
