I wish I could relate; doctors here in California are so rude && disrespectful. I work for a doctor that does the most rudest things in front of patients & it’s annoying. I-hate having to work so close to my boss; any little mistake and you’re incompetent...

I am new to the DA world and I’ve been at my office for almost 3 months. The doctors I work with have talked down to and have yelled at me in front of patients and one of them almost made me cry at work too. But another girl I know who was a DA before becoming a hygienist told me there are even dentists who are jerks to their assistants no matter how experienced and efficient they are! She actually told me she temped at a place in which the dentist actually has said he makes it a point to make his assistants cry at least once so he can show them he’s boss! She said she quit temping there pretty fast!

It took me years to get good enough to be able to straight up walk out on a dentist mid procedure. If he wanted to disrespect me in front of a patient I would leave right there and then. But thats after I've confronted him in private so it's happened before and if he can't correct his bad behavior he doesn't get a good assistant that gets him out of that mouth asap.

The Resa Not where I live. They just want your CREDENTIALS.
Some offices actually look for people with no experience so that they can train you from the ground up how they want you to work.
Maybe your school wasn't accredited. Or maybe you don't have your Radiology Health & Safety certification.
Maybe you don't have your CPR certification.
Maybe you don't have your infection disease certification.
Maybe you didn't get your Dental Assistant certification.
Maybe you're bombing your interviews .
Maybe you aren't applying to the right places or applying enough or demanding too much money for your level of ability .
Maybe you need to get your Expanded Functions General Chairside Certification.
      Make yourself competitive and marketable.
      Don't *WAIT* for a job.
      GET ONE.

I have my CPR,Radiology, and Dental Assisting Certificate, but alot of the places here that i have been applying to want you to have years of experience trust me I have been trying, where i stay is clearly different.

      The Resa That's unfortunate.
Was your teacher not informing y'all of the job market In your area?
My teacher actually gets requests from dentists for her to give them students from her class to hire .
She has made us very aware of our chances of employment upon leaving and just searching myself online I can see DENTAL Assistants , especially young ones are highly sought after.
