I once sent Dr Heiser a thank you note for being so accessible with his research, and he graciously responded and told me how important it was to him that scholars reach the public with what they are doing and his sadness that so very few devoted themselves to doing that. This was about ten years ago and he lamented that there were maybe ten scholars who really made it a priority and a goal but I know that if he made a new list today it would be much larger (thanks to his pioneering efforts) you would definitely be on it! He definitely changed the game and we all owe him so much.

Thanks for your touching tribute to Michael Heiser. He's impacted my thinking in a profound way, too. I am thankful for the hours and hours of sharing he left us through his podcasts as well as his books.
And please don't worry about the complainers you run into on social media. It's like the song, haters are going to hate, hate, hate, but that can just help us toughen up and encourage us to focus on God, whose going to continue to love, love, love.
Thanks for all your great work!

I don't cry easily, but I nearly cried as you spoke of Dr. Heiser. He will be sorely missed. His podcasts and books have meant so much to me and opened my eyes to so many things in scripture that I am now able to teach with confidence to others. The impact he has made is unfathomable.

Thank you for all you do Carmen and for a lovely tribute to Heiser. I discovered him randomly on UA-cam in 2017. And like you said through him I got to know your work. I am sooo grateful for people like him, yourself, and Mackie who have a heart for teaching the richness of God’s word to us who don’t have the means to access the scholarship. Like Heiser said y’all are our Gandalf and we lay people the hobbits trying to make sense of middle earth lol. Just last year I actually started to teach Sunday school at my Hispanic church using the resources from you guys. Even though I have no formal training people like you make it possible to share more deeply Gods word with others even in Spanish lol. Just yesterday I gifted “Portadores de Su Nombre” to one of my students. Can’t wait to read your new one and keeping my fingers crossed for a Spanish translation of that one in the future too! Gracias, gracias, gracias otra vez y muchas bendiciones!

My standard comment of "Another good one, Carmen" is an inadequate response to this Torah Tuesday. I was introduced to Mike Heiser's work through Frank Turek's podcast shortly after returning from a trip to Israel. All of a sudden the flood gates opened and I was introduced to your work, the Bible Project, and so many others. I devoured The Naked Bible Podcast and caught up just a little over a year later. I've been privileged to lead small groups covering some of his books (the "Angels" study starts next week) and yours as well. I teared up during your tribute and I look forward to the day in the New Heaven and the New Earth when I can introduce myself to all of you who have impacted the Kingdom by your work.

Thank you Dr. Carmen. I discovered you because of listening to the NBP. And the only reason I dove into it was I was looking for podcasts on eschatology and he was about to do the book of Revelations. He opened my eyes to the things my Granny saw in the scripture and confirmed a lot I learned from a woman who read every Bible version she could get her hands on and read through the Bible every 3 months. She introduced me to Gen. 6 and taught me more on it. I always loved the glimpses into heaven we would get as we read through the Bible. And I love the fact that Dr. Mike dove into those more in the context and taught me more on the mythology that I love to read about. Now when I read my Bible, I read it as a novel that was written in love and was carefully put together. I see things about the mythologies and I have more insight to the development of them. I appreciate his work and look forward to studying what you have learned in your studies. I just finished your book Bearing God's Name and now my Pastor's wife is looking at reading it now. I can hardly wait to read Being the Image of God. Thanks again.

Thank you for sharing your tribute to Mike. It is not hyperbole for me to say that his work changed my life. - I cried when I read his statement. I have taken every class he offered in his school of theology, and I learned about you through his podcast. I immediately went out and bought your book, devoured it in a weekend, and gave it to my husband to read. Both you and Mike have blessed me by helping make the Bible make SENSE. It seems far more cohesive, and therefore even more meaningful and powerful, through your scholarship. There is a VERY HUNGRY Christian audience out here that will sorely miss Mike's contributions. But I, for one, appreciate that he inspired you to do his type of work for the lay audience. Thank you again.

This was really touching. Along with the Bible Project, Dr. Heiser really opened my eyes to see completely different and wild things happening in Scripture. He answered a couple personal emails of mine as I was working through some concerns and ideas. That meant a lot. He will definitely be missed. I am very glad that he has left so much behind for us to appreciate and consider. Prayers for him and his family ♥️

Thank you for this wonderful tribute to a great and humble teacher of Bible. When I heard Mike Heiser for the first time it was like Neo escaping the Matrix! I couldn't believe that I had been a Christian for over 30 years and had never heard most of Mike's insights taught in church. I felt like Blind Bartimaeus and indeed, I asked Jesus to have mercy on me and open my eyes and heart to the truth of His word. My Lord led me to Tim Mackey and you through Mike and for that I will be forever grateful! I got saved back in the late 70's (yes, I was a Hippie) and I wanted to go to seminary to learn textual criticism because I wanted to know the Bible in its original context. Unfortunately, through a series of bad choices I was unable to do that, but I consumed God's word as much as I could. I learned from some really good teachers - MacArthur, Swindoll, Stott, Boice, and others of similar theological persuasions. But I never had the scales fall from my eyes, theologically speaking, until I heard Mike's podcasts and videos and read his books, which in turn led me to Tim Mackey and you. Ever since then, as Mike would say, I have never read my Bible in the same way. Keep up the good fight Dr. Imes and pray for and ignore the critics. You have many followers out hear that you will probably never meet this side of heaven who are praying for you and need your Spirit-filled guidance and instruction. Presently I am going through Exodus in my morning worship time and I incorporate your Torah Tuesday insights into my time with the Lord and appreciate your help in my getting to know my Lord and my God more intimately and deeply. And it all started with Mike being used by God to bring truth to the masses. To God be the glory...

I could sing his platitudes as I have done elsewhere, but I would rather encourage you to keep moving forward in the Spirit, knowing that in the public sphere there will be testing, but your ability to reach others as Mike has will increase exponentially.

A funny story was I had many of his books because I found the titles intriguing, but alas at the time I was not ready for the information it entails. It wasn't until the pandemic - when life slowed down that I eagerly devoured them and Found answers to many questions that I as a lay person was too afraid to ask. I also will miss Dr. Heiser. I only recently read one of his books. I’m so happy for you that you began a collaboration with him this side of heaven. Thank you for sharing this kind tribute on his behalf. We should all be so gracious with one another. Aleichem Shalom❤

Dr. Imes, thank you for your beautiful tribute to Dr. Heiser. I am one of thousands of people who have been greatly blessed by Dr. Heiser's generosity in bringing the Academia to the laity and truly showing us the Bible in all of its glory and richness.
I have completed 3 of his 4 courses in his Awakening School of Theology and it will be the launching point for a graduate degree in Bible Studies.
I am also thankful for him introducing you to me and your work. Like him, you make the Bible exciting and accessible. It's the Word of God and we all as believers can understand it.
But not everyone has the opportunity to dive into all the research and documentation available to the Academia. Thank you for your generosity of spirit in joining Mike and Tim Mackie and others.
Finally, I am sorry you received some pushback on your recent videos. I wish more Christians were as excited as you are about learning more about Israel and the Bible and all that entails.
Yes, we have to be discerning and careful, but excitement for studying and learning the Word of God is severely lacking in many Christians. I will take excitement about apathy any day of the week.
Thanks again for all that you do and keep at it! I cannot wait to learn more from you and others like you. God bless you!

The first time I heard of who you were and your book, Bearing God's Name, was because of that 2019 TNB conference (I watched online). I immediately preordered your book and read it as soon as it came and honestly it's become one of the most helpful books I've read and appreciated. Needless to say, I'm very much looking forward to Bearing God's Image when it comes out. As a pastor, resources such as these are incredibly helpful not only for me, but it's nice to be able to recommend resources like this to my church family (most of whom did not go to seminary)! So thank you for your continued work! Also, thank you for this tribute to Mike. I think your words expressed how many of us feel. I had the opportunity to be on one of his NBP episodes, along with a few other pastors, and I echo what many have already commented in that I too have benefited so much from his work. He will be greatly missed.

I just love the way that you use this channel to model "Bearing God's Name" in practice. If you don't know what you're looking at, you might miss it. But from your opening empathetic explanation of your recent videos and apology. To your heartfelt od to Dr. Heiser. It's so clear to me the way you model it.
After hearing the history, I'm a little surprised that I did not encounter you through him. I've been reading him since 2017 -18, I think. N.T. Wright, it's even longer, and yes, I've always been a big fan of the Bible Project since I first saw their videos. All of your works speak to my mind and heart in a way that is so encouraging. All of my service as a missionary vocationally. Lay apologist and leader in my local church has benefited greatly from your work. People think that I am so smart when I just read good scholars.
I encountered your work through one of my close friends, Brandon Cleaver. He saw your presentation at ETS and was raving to me about it, so I got the book and consumed it. Or maybe it consumed me is a more apt description. I began raving about it to my circle of friends. I like to think that I probably helped sell 100 copies or so 🤣. The Old Testament never really made sense to me prior to reading your book. Your book changed that, and now my annual read throughs come to life. It's amazing how Yaweh works.

There's a reason why these uninspired books were left out & rejected by both the Hebrews & early Christians @@CarmenJoyImesPhD ... it led a great mind like Heiser to believe demons are the souls of Nephilim instead of fallen angels and about a Council of Gods, yes obe supreme God but of lesser "gods"? All of this is heretical nonsense & reason why only small Jewish & Christian sects in Ethiopia still honor them. At least call yourself an Ethiopian Christian if you choose to accept this garbage.

I'm just beginning to be exposed with your work (saw a few interviews, heard you as a guest on the Naked Bible Podcast, looking into your published works, etc.), and I'm thankful for your courage to place your theological journey in front of the public eye, just as I was thankful for Michael Heiser in that regard.
To be fluent in Christian lingo is easier than ever online, and I've witnessed some abusive uses of it towards Michael Heiser when he was alive (and after he passed) from those who disapproved of his work. So you might receive such as well, particularly by those who disapprove of women as teachers.. and my prayer as I type this is that our Lord will strengthen you with the fruit of meekness, peace, patience, self-control, and faith in those moments.
On a super brief personal note, I want to read your book "Bearing God's Name" asap, for the Lord has "softened" my heart/mind to acknowledge that I do not know how to do that rightly, sitting where I'm sitting at age 41 with a life characterized by tragedy and disobedience to Jesus as Lord. I'm quite certain I've borne his name poorly both in ignorance and in sin.

As for the slings of people online, I'm getting used to having men throw 1 Timothy 2:12 at me . . . as if I haven't read it before and spent a good deal of time studying it.
Thanks for your prayers that I will respond with the fruit of the Spirit in those situations.
