I already loved this song in Japanese, but I'm crying listening to this translated version. I especially love the choice to start the chorus with "odyssey" to hit the same beats as the original version's おなじ (onaji). It's a really thoughtful translation that goes out of its way to keep the experience the same between the two versions, and I love that.

I only know Frieren because I read the manga and haven't watched the anime yet. One day, I randomly got recommended this song and when I understood the lyrics I instantly knew it was about Frieren. YOASOBI is on another level when it comes to capturing the essence of a story and turning it to music. One of my favorite songs that they made was Gunjou and it was about Blue Period, I was surprised to find out that it was not the actual OP of the anime!

Do you guys even know how difficult this song is to actually sing on a technical level? If she actually has ever sang this straight through, I'm not even sure how she's managing her breathing especially near the end. I have merely choir history and I've been practicing for months on my own. While I can follow along the lyrics and hit all the notes well and accurately now (with GREAT concentration on my part), my breath control is STILL not up to par. Ikura is actually GOAT singing this song, she's earned my respec 👌👌👌🗿
