Masaaki Iwasaki went on to be the sound designer of Mother 3, Kirby Mass Attack and Kirby & The Rainbow Curse while Shogo Sakai composed the whole ost of Mother 3.
An interesting bit of trivia: this sound driver (which previously appeared in High Seas Havoc and Dashin' Desperadoes) was reverse-engineered by the Taiwanese pirate scene and used in *a lot* of unlicensed games.
Data East really knew their way around the Mega Drive's audio hardware. It's a shame this game wasn't released in PAL territory, otherwise i'd buy it for the amazing soundtrack alone. Side Pocket was an amazing technical feature with it's smooth, pure multi-channel sampling, but this kicks it up even further.
You're doing god's work by providing this. Would never have gotten my hands on this had you not supplied this link. In fact, I wouldn't have heard of this OST had you not uploaded it onto YT, so major kudos to you!
That's great, but how you managed to get this game's ost in lossless format even if the game didn't get an official ost release on cd or any other medium? Edit : I just read the description.
@Ryu Don't get me wrong, I have nothing against pool. Actually played it quite a bit when I studied abroad in college. The Genesis port, however, is an entirely different story. 😎
This is where my love for jazz started now I'm a jazz player thank you!
For me it started with some Pokemon tunes, I'm not a jazz player (or at least not a professional one) but I still love it!
Do you love fats BBC too?
Yes this game and deja vu
I believe "Sam and Max hit the road" helped me build a taste for jazz too!
Minnesota fats got you into jazz!😅cool!
This soundtrack has really excellent, natural sounding stereo. I think that's the first time I've noticed that in a Genesis game.

Yep, both of those use this sound driver.
Shui Hu - Feng Yun Zhuan also uses the same sound engine.
That explains Super Donkey Kong 99
Composer snapped at song starting at 9:00. That shit is beautiful
It reminds me of the opening cutscene song from Lunar Dragon Song.

Thank you super much. This soundtrack is soothing genesis gold.
Data East makes the jams baby!!!
This is the real potential of sega genesis.
Wait, where's Muladhara? ;P
awesome soundtrack for a glorious game, thanks for sharing!
The bright xylophone kinda patch in the second track is so nice with the electric piano one.
Rented this once....i remember this started my love for xylophone.
It's a fm synth doing the sound
Actually was the song"las vegas" from side pocket that got me started on jazz guitar
insane really.
Pure Platinum
The songs remind me of electric pianos and their programmed tunes. Quite a lot of tracks too, pretty surprising...
Last Chance is my favorite track, but I love them all!
Gorbachev really acing it here.

I live for Chillin'
This is some nice, smooth music. Some of these tracks could fit in a Pokémon game! It gives me a Pokémon generation 5 vibe.
not bad, not bad. very catchy tunes.
Ooh and that's a bad miss!
A wild Mitchell and Webb reference?
Wasn't the word "fats" in the title censored in Europe?
😁😁😁😁😁
like
Didn't know Side Pocket had a sequel. Didn't really need one, does it?
