I love that this comic does atonement right. Apologies mean nothing if there’s no attempt at making things better for the people you hurt, and I’m glad Sans straight up told Gaster that this wasn’t about him. The brothers were the ones who were hurt so it’s *them* who get to decide how they choose to forgive Gaster. All Gaster can do is listen. A lot of people aren’t happy this is the direction the comic went, but I don’t see a lot of stories where the guilty party actually has to witness the outcome of their bad decisions and then try to pick up the pieces in earnest. Forgiveness is hard to earn and I’m glad this comic is showing that.
I love Handplates so much, Zarla's artwork and story is amazing, and combined with tearful music and voice acting makes it even better. I usually prefer stories where Gaster is a caring father to Sans and Papyrus (MercyPlates for example) but this one just pulls at my heart, and I can't seem to get enough.

I dont like that they made gaster so sorry, so quickly. Sure, I get it if he spent more time dwelling on it, but it doesnt make sense to see him torturing the two, and then suddenly being sorry the next time he sees them. Sure, he spent who knows how long in the void, but the author doesn't show us the full circle of his journey, so it feels disjointed and confused. While he was starting to feel bad during the last week he was alive, it wasn't enough to convince me that he had lost that unmoving conviction to go through with his mission.

I dunno if I’m supposed to feel bad for Gaster. All I see is a sadist who likes seeing children in pain. I mean, yeah he healed them TWICE but that doesn’t make his actions any better. It’s like once the consequences bite him in the *ss he whines and cries about being erased from reality, that’s what he deserves.

Ive been following handplates since I was literally 9 years old, 15 now and I still love it. Glad the story is finally going somewhere, namely up.
