gopro on the press box too? what version gopros are these? I'm thinking of buying a few gopros to do the band videos with this year, instead of using a bigger pro camera from the press box.
@@bwfitz I was thinking of shooting from the press box in 4k so I have some detail to crop with. last year I used a 1080p Panasonic ac30. the lense wasn't wide enough, and tbh the quality was pretty bad in low light fields. just wondering if I set up one on the press box, the strap a few to instruments, and maybe one to my mic stand at the 50 yardline, if this would work out. main concern is the press box GoPro in low light, it's a small sensor so I'm not sure how well it'll work.
I use a Canon XF400 to get the high wide as well as a Canon XA-10. The GoPro will work great. Attach it to the press box window at the 50 yard line. Only thing is you might get chatter from the coaches and refs. They don’t particularly pay much attention to the band sometimes and will talk over your recording.
@@bwfitz ya, I get audio from the 50 yard line near track edge to the football field if I can. I use two sure mics in ortf configuration, and run them into a zoom h5 handy recorder ductaped to the boom mic stand 🤣. I gave up trying to get audio from stands or press box. no one ever cares ur recording 🤣. I was looking at the hero8 over low light capabilities, but the permanent lense glass has me steering away. hopefully I can get some testing done with the GoPros before the season begins. my hope was if I strapped a GoPro to the press box it'd free me up to take photos and setup my mics down on the field (I'm a one man band media department). I also wouldn't need to worry with an expensive camera on the press box anymore lol
Thanks! lining up the snares was easy...the hard part was to try to avoid phasing due to the differences in distance from the wide angle shot and the field....We had planned to do this at our home field but rain prevented it...We shot this at our local rival school Spain Park HS.. they have a great field and terrific lighting though...The students were having fun! These were GoPro Hero 7s. They do a great job. I’ve used them to get the wide angle from the press box before. Good luck! Thanks for watching!
