Love how she took all the "wrong" lessons from the class to figure out how to help her grandmother unlearn the formality she was likely taught in her youth so she could get around easier in her old age with more natural movements. And hey, it also helped her develop her animation skills too. Shows how people can learn differently and how that's not necessarily a bad thing. She may have likely failed that class by its own metrics but gained so much more from it than they could have ever intended.

Same! I'd help my grandmother where I could, and this...it touched me, and brought those memories back to mind. I had to help my mom in a similar way, when cancer took her down, but she fought hard to keep moving. I miss them both, admittedly, but I'll treasure those memories for as long as I live. I'll definitely have to watch Keep Your Hands off Eizouken! because of this; is it available for free on Crunchyroll, or do I need a subscription to watch it?

@@scottbruckner4653 I genuinely think this show could end up as the new FLCL. Came out at the beginning of a decade that's a multiple of 20, features lively, distinct, and expressive animation, unique characters, and an unconventional but still compelling story with heavy focus on character study.

It’s not heavy handed, it’s not trying to make you cry (even if it does succeed). Eizouken shows the things that inspire us to create and does it very well.
Grandma must must must meet the rest of the Eizouken. Also, it probably got to me more because my mother just passed at nearly 92 years and it reminded me of her and her grandchild.

It's exactly what it's like to be an artist, the most innocuous things like how a bird flies or water splashes set you on fire and you MUST figure out how it happened!
I like how these moments in the show, don’t go out of their way to make you cry. They can totally do it, but instead, they tug at you just the right amount.
This is probably my favorite anime of the year so far, I just love every second of it!

I took care of my Aunty and I loved this scene so much. But it’s also funny because walking like that is exactly how you Dempsey Roll, shifting your weight to one side and letting the momentum carry your rear leg forward. So envisioning the grandma suddenly whip out her jet engines made me burst out laughing
