      This episode is the most important one of the YFBS canon. I know it's blasphemy to say this... But: Yes- RIP music needs to be seen above even the ground breaking and challenging "Nickelback Sucks" ep

    I would encourage everyone who listens to this episode to look up the drug company Valeant. The parallels between Hipgnosis' and Valeant's business models are staggering.
    Music isn't dead. It's UN-dead. It's been "resurrected" through corporate necromancy and paraded around as a living artform for a long time.
    Thank you for coming to my TEDx talk.

      @@brooksdurham5285 see Bandcamp, this site is awesome to find new music everyday and it's very fortunate for musicians to showcase their music. I love Bandcamp because I discovered amazing new bands and artists around and shilled some money for those who are really worth it.

    • @jessed6151
      @jessed6151 2 роки тому +1

      @@semaannader9860 yea, but do any of your friends actually know that super obscure band that just released their generic 70s hard rock album that you rave about on Bandcamp? Oh they don't? Because music gets no where the same amount of promotion across the genres today anymore. And honestly we don't need 5 albums from 5 artists who all try to sing in the same style, play in the same instrument style, release their own album and try and say it's original. Bitch, that shit has been done before and done before that, you're just the first few to do it when we have smart phones now. We didn't need Greta van fleet, we already have led zeppelin who already did it better. And I'm sure as hell not going to give money to a generic millennial who's just trying to cash in on the success of a big trendy band's sound (old or new) and that's because, no one gives a shit about new music; we're all just trying to lie to ourselves and say that music isn't Dead and that's why we still try to play similar music that we did 50 years ago, even 25 years ago., That's because music has devolved into literal double digit iq sound. You think the Beatles are boring kids music? They at least could write harmonies that stuck in your head unlike a lot of today's artists. God damn I hate to see the devolution of rap today. Sure gangster rap from the 80s and 90s was still trash attitude wise, but at least the beats on their own were classics. Rap artists these days are lucky if they get 1 beat that hooks people's heads instead of the generic dance hall chrous hooks that every "rapper" does these days to try and get girls to remember their songs bc they know most guys ain't listening to drake, they know girls listen to drake so they pretend to as well.
      No one knows who the next big star is gonna be, but if we've learned anything from the music industry, it's that usually an overnight sensation who even may be relevantly famous for multiple years, is probably just a cookie cutter artist who will get sucked up by a mega corp as soon as they see the sheer level $$$ being offered, we've seen this countless times.

      I would love an episode on Deftones, I wish they’d stop hearting comments about it and actually make it happen. Chino Moreno himself said Around The Fur was their peak. I love those first few albums but why would you keep a band alive if you already think you’ve produced your best work with it? How many times do Steph and Chino need to have beef before it’s quits?

    (will never not be amazed that from first to last and the human abstract are linked. THA deserves much praise for two of their 3 albums and the classical ep. FFTL not so much…especially for helping to push sonny moores lame solo project onto our collective ears.)
