you are right. the length of the shinai depends on the age. Adults use 39 inch shinais, the only exception is if somebody is doing nito which in the the long sword has to be 37 inches.
At 6:58, Eiga's tsuki was effective. You see, how much Kim's body was responding? It's more than the last tsuki which was accepted by the judges. On my 27" screen, this is obvious.
usually grown men are fit with a 39. At most tournaments your shinai cannot be weighed less than 510g, but it can be as heavy as you like. Size 39 and under seem below 510 so i would advise having a 39. THere are also mens, womens, and high school shinais you can choose from... i think this is right correct me if im wrong
as a korean, i can't say that i wasn't cheering for the korean team. but damn, eiga's kendo is just beautiful. lot of respect for the man

hmm. i thought the shinais are choose according to age? isn't that according to WKC rules and regulations?
