I've been to a lot of places, but never Poland, and I was once urged by a co-worker (that lived there), that a visit would be well worth it. One of these days...
That's amazing Bev. What a beautiful country. I used to have a friend from Poland. She said that Canada looked brand new and she missed the 1000 year old buildings of Poland. Now I can see what she meant.
What an adventure Bev! I agree... Poland is a great place to visit. I was fortunate enough to go for two weeks when I was stationed in Germany to umpire the Little League and Senior League European Baseball Championships. We drove up there and each one of us had "Chaperones" (School teachers) provided by the host cities. On our off days we got to explore a little and it was amazing to have locals show us around. This was in 1997 and the one thing I remember the most (of many) was how nice everyone was and how inexpensive it was. Well done, Bev! I've always been fascinated by cemeteries... trying to figure out what the people were like in life, how they (or someone) chose what to put on their tombstone, and the varied and beautiful designs of the monuments. I see there's another Poland video from you with quite the alluring picture of you... gotta check that out!
Many Polish heroes were burried in this cementary. If you watched a movie Warsaw 44 then you know that fights with Nazis also took place there. My dad who was anti-Communist said that Polish resistance movement often had meetings in cementaries. Poland is one of the most beautiful countries in Europe. We have sea, lakes, mountains, forests, beautiful ancient cities, delicious food and everything is safe and affordable.
My grandfather fought with the Germans in 1939. Then he survived the German occupation. He has never heard of "Nazis" and would be very surprised that he was fighting some "Nazis". :) Mój dziadek walczył z Niemcami w 1939 roku. Potem przeżył okupację niemiecką . On nigdy nie słyszał o "nazistach" i bardzo by się zdziwił, że walczył z jakimiś "nazistami". :)
The political correctness of using the term Nazis instead of Germans led to the fact that today young Germans, when asked who the Nazis were, say that they were Poles. Let's not rewrite the history. In 1939, it was Germany that invaded Poland, occupied it, and in 1944 the Warsaw Uprising was against the Germans, not against the Nazis. The term Nazi means a member of the NSDAP - Nationalsozialistische Deutsche Arbeiterpartei.
Having been raised a "Military Brat' and lived abroad, I had the opportunity to travel throughout most of Europe, England, Scotland and Ireland and the history in all of these places lives on, and cemeteries are a big part of it. It was not only an education, it gave me such a greater appreciation of other cultures, not to mention some amazing foods!!!
Wow the beauty of that place put tears in my eye.can you imagine what heaven is going to be like.i needed this thank you so much for sharing such a beautiful cemetery
What a wonderful experience with a most generous friend. I’m going to share with my UA-cam friend Ania, who lives in Poland. She is amazing as well. Enjoy yourself Bev and thank you so much for sharing this extraordinary experience with us. ❤️❤️
That's interesting to hear cause I am from Poland and because of that, cementary like these are much more normal to me. In the other hands, when I came to Scotland first time I saw for the first time more "raw" graveyards, like in the middle of nowhere, and I am still in love with them. That really shows that we are always open for new but also we are able to understand how many things are incredible around us, just by talking to ppl from different places
Poland should be on a top list of destination for Europe travel for all travellers planning a trip to Europe for the first time. Make sure you plan well as every season is different experience from festivals, cuisines, fruits, vegetables, cultural events and places of interests. A Super Huge Recommendation to visit Poland!!!
Such a kind and generous friend! That cemetery is gorgeous. If you're ever in Chicago, check out Graceland Cemetery. Not as park-like, but some beautiful tombstones (eg Marshall Field, Louis Sullivan). I'd like to go to Poland someday! I also have Polish ancestry, and I'd like to go to all the countries of my grandparents, stay a bit, and take language lessons. Thanks for sharing!
This is a great video about Poland and Warsaw because it is rather unusual to have an American to talk abut a cemetery. Usually, you would have someone to talk about the Warsaw Royal Castle, Wilanów, Palace or some other tourist attraction in Warsaw and nearby. Powązki Cemetery is a special necropolis for Poles and Poland indeed which luckily survived the Warsaw Uprising in 1944. You will find there tombs of people who contributed greatly to Polish literature ( e.g. Władysław Reymont), music ( e.g. Czesław Niemen) , Polish WW II resistance heroes (e.g. Gen. Tadeusz "Bór" Komorowski ) and others including unfortunately, top communists like Gen. Jaruzelski, a hard-core, cruel communist who imposed harsh martial law in Poland in 1981 and prosecuted millions of Poles who were opposing communism.
I was drawn to the cemetery. I went 3 times. I found it beautiful, peaceful and profound. Poland is incredible with such a rich history. Thank you for sharing more information with me.
Been back to the "home farm and village" where my grandfather was born.....Rural southern Poland not that far from the mountain range.....Lots of cousins, lots of church's and burial plots to fill out my family tree...Hope to get back there in the next year...Beautiful and serene and lots of history ( traced back to 1532).

I don’t find cemetery’s beautiful but I when I was younger (I’m 59) I enjoyed walking in cemetery’s (of course, while visiting grave site of my loved one) for the history of those buried there. THIS one, though, is absolutely beautiful. I couldn’t help but “feel” like it was more a park with those stunning trees. I just watched your meet up video also. 9/11 is a very emotional day for me but you also mentioned Nov. 1 (All Saints Day) on this video. One of my brothers passed away on Nov. 1. This year will be 15 years. I’m happy you’re enjoying your time. I hate ppl who have to have their cameras/phone out ALL the time especially for “content”. Stay safe
Good to see you went there. One of my favorite places. We need kids to go there for an eye opener, see the history and realize how good they have it. Nicely done. 👍⚡️🎉
Come to Kraków and see Rakowicki Cemetery or cemetery on the hill in Salwator district (in western part, with view on the city, on the road to Wolski forest and Kościuszko Mound).
Wow Bev what a beautiful tranquil cemetery Poland looks amazing thanks for sharing.Have you tried Polish dumplings they have a variety of fillings they are delicious ? 😋
@@BecomingBev are you staying in Poland for a while yet ? I hope to go there in April next year as I have a friend who lives in Slovakia who I am visiting.
A lot of philosophers often said that if you feel really bad - go to the cementary :) Ther's sth deep in it, I believe. I don't know what exactly but one can easily calm down. Especially within such a beautifyll and historical monuments and alleys. Maybe due to the noticable presence of the past and the eternity in face of which our daily problems don't weight so much ? All in all. It works. It's a great pleasure and relaxing just beeing out there.
When I was young my father told me story about some of our ancestors hiding inside the graves during uprising (1863-64). They were two brothers who run out from home to fight and when things gone sore they've needed to find place to stay for some time until things don't cool down - graveyard was perfect because none thought about it and Russians didn't search it at all. So for a couple of weeks they were sleeping on coffins inside the tomb during day and go out at night to get some food and other necessities and also "you don't shit at graveyard" . I've asked if they weren't scared and he told me "you need to be afraid of living ones not the ones who are already dead". This was very powerful moment for me and from that point I never felt any sense of danger on any graveyard but instead some sense of being protected - it's hard to explain but I'm sure my son will also hear that story some day so he can love graveyards like me and probably many generations before in our family.
Girl live life! We will be here when you post! That cemetery was awesome! I wonder how many ghost 👻 hunts have been done there lol thanks so much for sharing 💜
Wow Bev,I was in Germany, Slovenia, and Italy, but we were busy bombing Bosnia, and Kosova. Sorry, I was a Weapons Chief in the Air Force. Thank you for showing me the beautiful parts of Poland. Stay Beautiful, adventurous and fun.
And now u have to understand your didn't bomb this country for your self but you did that for banksters and big corporations they are the one who made more and more money on that war
At first I thought the title was "Portland"... Then I was thinking....Has she lost her freaking MIND???? lol I can see visting Poland it's a beautiful place well parts of it are! Thanks for posting...
I'm not really into shopping, so was beginning to lose interest when you were describing the mall, I was surprised that you found it different -- it actually sounds just like a lot of malls we have here in Canada (Toronto specifically). A lot of people live in the City, and don't want to have to drive out to the suburbs (and fight traffic) to go to big box stores. So, unless I'm shopping for something very bulky, I'll just pick it up at a store or at a downtown mall... Then the Cemetery. Great job there. Nice photography, good background music, and yet capturing the feeling of walking about and exploring. I have some relatives buried there, but I haven't been in many, many years. Thanks!
@@charonboat6394 But are there dates like how long people lived. I ask because supposably people lived to late 30s or early 40s in the 1800 s but I've been in graveyards from 1800s were there were several graves saying the people lived into their 80s and 90s. I trust what graveyards say more than what people say. Probably some of the Poland cemetery is from Holocaust. Anyways an interesting place.
In Poland we have great respect for the deceased. You can find very old Graves. These Graves are left in peace for generations to come. Every year we celebate and pray for all the deceased on november 1st where you can find thousands of candles and flowers on the cemetaries. Eventually its a place we will all end up in. In Poland you should deffinetly go hiking in our tatra Mountains, see Auschwitz Birkenau museum, and see cities like Wrocław and Kraków. Also we have beautiful Forests in all of the country, and Bieszczady where you can find peace,
Poland?! Girl, next you'll be driving around the US in a van or something... Thanks for the interesting look at a Polish Mall: picturing that shopping cart in my mind in a mall was jarring.
I know the feeling you were describing in describing your reaction to the cemetery and that you felt a reaction. That’s how I felt at Swan point cemetery on Blackstone Blvd in Providence Ri it’s where HP Lovecraft is buried. If you ever go to Providence it’s worth the trip. The cemetery is open as a neighborhood resource for biking and jogging. Located on the seakonk river….sigh I miss prov sometimes.😀
You just have visited the Powązki Cemetery not long ago. You can expect real crowds of people also on August 1, which commemorates the anniversary of the Warsaw Uprising, and most probably on September 1 (the beginning of the World War II).
@@BecomingBev yes, absolutely! There's a huge crowd. And generally there's crowd and lots of lights and flowers in any cemetery in Poland. It's a tradition that out famous artists appear at the Powązki Cemetery on November 1 to collect money for renovation of valuable tombs and sculptures.
Why not Poland and many other Countries throughout the World 🌎. It's a big World and if the opportunity presents itself anyone should go forth and explore it. You meet wonderful people along the way and, if open minded, find out what we have in common with others It's a beautiful wonderful thing, humanity. 👍🏿🥰💯
Every city has its own taste but Gdańsk ....that's sth different ... the beauty, atmosphere of the city and surroundings (Sopot etc) are just majestic. Much more crowded and besiegded by tourists than Warsaw unfortunatelly.

This year will be 15 years. I’m happy you’re enjoying your time. I hate ppl who have to have their cameras/phone out ALL the time especially for “content”. Stay safe
It was like a park, a very beautiful peaceful park. Thank you for sharing a bit of your story with me Esther.
Thanks for share video
It’s my pleasure to share.
Good to see you went there. One of my favorite places. We need kids to go there for an eye opener, see the history and realize how good they have it. Nicely done. 👍⚡️🎉
I agree completely. It was quite an eye opener for me.
Colour me jealous, lol.
Anywhere/everywhere in Europe is on my travel list.
Have a great time.
Poland has been the biggest nice surprise for me.
A lot of famous people are buried there - musicians, actors, artists, etc.
It’s a beautiful tribute ❤️
Such a great video, short and full of info, thanks!
Thank you. It was fun to make.
Come to Kraków and see Rakowicki Cemetery or cemetery on the hill in Salwator district (in western part, with view on the city, on the road to Wolski forest and Kościuszko Mound).
I did make it to Krakow. I’m so impressed with Poland.
Timeless. What a fascinating find! Thanks for sharing. I am amazed you have time at all to post!
Awe. lol. Thank you for understanding.
Good job 👍. We want more videos 🙂
You got it❤️
Wow Bev what a beautiful tranquil cemetery Poland looks amazing thanks for sharing.Have you tried Polish dumplings they have a variety of fillings they are delicious ? 😋
Yes I actually went to a Pierogi festival in Krakov. So many interesting flavors.
I think you’re right. There was great peace being there.
Thank you Bev for sharing your life! I love it!
You’re so welcome.
Enjoy your break - Will see more of you again with your camper van !!! xoxoxxoxo
Coming soon❤️ thank you Phillip
Girl live life! We will be here when you post! That cemetery was awesome! I wonder how many ghost 👻 hunts have been done there lol thanks so much for sharing 💜
I bet it feels very different at night. Thanks for being here with me.
Thank you Louis. I can’t wait to share more.
And now u have to understand your didn't bomb this country for your self but you did that for banksters and big corporations they are the one who made more and more money on that war
Beautiful look
Thank you.
I want you to Instagram I want to talk to you
Wisch you a nice trip there best greats from neighbor Germany 😉
Thank you for your sweet wishes.
@@BecomingBev ❤️
At first I thought the title was "Portland"... Then I was thinking....Has she lost her freaking MIND???? lol I can see visting Poland it's a beautiful place well parts of it are! Thanks for posting...
I’ve been pleasantly surprised and impressed with “Poland”.
Hey Ms. Bev. You never know what you're gonna find until you go look, and you just proved that!
That’s the truth.
Thanks!
Wow. You have relatives buried there. I’m glad you hung in there with the vid.
Check dates to see how long people lived back then. That would be interesting to know. Poland looks interesting.
I’ll have to look closely at the tombstone dates.
@@BecomingBev That's the reliable way to know how long people used to live.
@@BecomingBev Wow, a million graves. It's hard to picture a graveyard like that. You never know what to expect next on your channel.
@@steveedward7572 Not a million of graves but a million of dead people.
The are several bodies buried in one.
Hi Bev
How are you doing? How's your vacation going? Stay safe and happy travels.
Everything’s going well.
Also we have beautiful Forests in all of the country, and Bieszczady where you can find peace,
I would very much like to came back and explore more of Poland. Thank you for the wonderful suggestions.
great stuff Bev , ya always worth the wait , what a voice :) ;)
Awe. Thank you. I’m glad you find it pleasing.
Cool!! Castle? Sounds like a new Fredrock project.
In my dreams.
@@BecomingBev It would be a mini castle and maybe you would have to skip the gators in the moat.
Westfield Malls are amazing! I used to shop at them in Australia. :-) That cemetery is awesome.
I was fascinated. Truly one stop shopping.
That was amazing video Bev!
Thank you. More to come.
Poland?! Girl, next you'll be driving around the US in a van or something...
Thanks for the interesting look at a Polish Mall: picturing that shopping cart in my mind in a mall was jarring.
Randy… I like the way you think…. A van? Hmmmmm
Wow way to go!
Thank you David.
Good for you for taking breaks from content creation 🙌 There has to be time for personal recharging!
And sometimes you just get busy.
One Hectare is approximately 2.5 acres 👍 BIG
Yes. Very big.
Wow! Amazing!
I thought so too.
@@BecomingBev my dils grandfather came over from Polland. Polish Jew.
I was blown away especially to just happen upon it.
Look I'm actually admiring you on this channel ♠️
How did you manage the 16 hour plane flight?
I had some pretty good jet lag for a few days. I booked a direct flight home on LOT Airlines. It was 10 hours.
Hi Bev miss you long time not uploaded ☺️
I know… sorry. I’ll do better… maybe. Lol
Yes in Poland we don't only eat burgers and think about work. It may be shocking for USA
I found Poland quite beautiful and I’d love to return.
Poland is the future of Europe, security and zero terrorist attacks, a strong army and a thriving economy, and food !!!
I was so impressed! I honestly had no idea.
God Bless💯🙏🙏🙏
Thank you. That means a lot.
Witamy w Polsce 🇵🇱
Thank you. It’s my pleasure to be in this beautiful country.
🇵🇱🏆🇵🇱🏆
❤️
Go cemetery on the 1 November but at midnight you will saw Luna burning candles this is only in may country
You just have visited the Powązki Cemetery not long ago. You can expect real crowds of people also on August 1, which commemorates the anniversary of the Warsaw Uprising, and most probably on September 1 (the beginning of the World War II).
It was beautiful and peaceful while I was there. I imagine November 1 being busy as well.
@@Piwonia67 it’s a worthwhile tradition. I’m thankful that people care.
So which city/town is the most beautiful to you?
I think Krakow is incredible
😲 wow
I agree.
Come to Poland for All Saints day and visit the cemeteries then.
I’m sure it’s an amazing experience
Is Powązki Cemetery the best place to visit? Are there no other more interesting places to see in Poland?
There are so many fascinating places to visit in Poland. In fact I did 2 more videos on it.
💜🙏💙
Thanks for the love Aaron
Why not Poland and many other Countries throughout the World 🌎. It's a big World and if the opportunity presents itself anyone should go forth and explore it. You meet wonderful people along the way and, if open minded, find out what we have in common with others
It's a beautiful wonderful thing, humanity. 👍🏿🥰💯
I agree completely
Nearest way to properly pronounce the cemetery's name for Americans would be [ poh-von-skee ]. Nice film BTW, cheers from Polish
Thank you. My sincere apologies. I know I mispronounced many of the names. Thank you for your help. Cheers to you.
Poland! ,Girl what in the hell are you going to Poland for ? 😀🤡❤😎👍👊
Watch the vid and see. Lol
Whoops, Ian I posted my comment before I saw yours.
Why not ? She wants to see and learn more about this beautiful world we are in
👍
Thanks for the thumbs up
🆒
Thank you. I thought so too.
Powązki
Yes. Thank you for the correction.
Don't forget Krakow! much more history than Warsawa. If time permits Wroclaw, with all the dwarves. Or Gdansk,by the Baltic Sea.
I just returned from 5 days in Krakow and could have stayed much longer. Fascinating city. I’m thinking I may need to return.
Love krakow ,go there as often i can .. from sweden .. gdansk too ..
That is where my family is from. Some came to the US and the rest stayed. Maybe one day I can go.
Every city has its own taste but Gdańsk ....that's sth different ... the beauty, atmosphere of the city and surroundings (Sopot etc) are just majestic. Much more crowded and besiegded by tourists than Warsaw unfortunatelly.
