  • The location of a new temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Auckland, New Zealand, has been announced by President Russell M. Nelson during a Tuesday evening devotional in the country’s largest city. “Today I am pleased to announce that the new temple will be built in Auckland on Redoubt Road,” said President Nelson. The temple will be on a hill between the missionary training center and the Redoubt stake center. President Nelson said the temple will be a “two- story building with a granite exterior. Its light and beauty will be highly visible.”
Prior to the devotional, the prophet met with local leaders, including Auckland Mayor Phil Goff, who spoke briefly at a reception. Mayor Goff said, “President Nelson, … your Church is a very important faith organization in New Zealand. The Church performs a very important role in the values that you teach and in the community service that you give us.”
He gave special thanks to the Church for its response to the March 15, 2019, terrorist attacks on two mosques in Christchurch that killed 51 people. “Your Church was one of the first churches to come out to condemn the act, to express your solidarity with people of the Muslim faith,” he said. “Your missionaries in Christchurch helped at the community center. Your ladies in Dunedin helped set up a women’s support center.”

I became a born again Christian in 1988 when I was baptized and received the Gift of the Holy Spirit by the laying on of hands of the Priesthood of God, our Holy Heavenly Father when I joined the true church, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. This has been the best thing to happen to me in my entire life. The church has taught me to be humble, bold, loving, patient, kind, gentle using Jesus Christ as me example. Attending the Temple has contributed very much to my transformation to be an example of Christs life and love for God and my neighbor.

I am thankful to be a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I love seeing our prophet reach out to God's children of many faiths all over the world. I have had an opportunity to follow this example in my tiny sphere of influence by seeking to better understand, respect, and love others who don't necessarily share my beliefs. I hope always to set aside fear, rumors, and misunderstandings between faiths and embrace the eternal worth of each soul in love and hope.

So moving.. President Nelson is so humble a true disciple and apostle. Giving the people such a beautiful blessing..for the people and individuals as he asked for their name and told them he would be praying for them, those affected in the shootings a short time ago. His visit to New Zealand is so timely.
And then to announce where the temple will be built. Oh how I love Dear Dear President Nelson

Great devotional I loved when President Nelson asked the primary children to stand up and sing I am a Child of God with him and all my focus was on this one specific area of the arena where the kids were going all out, although I still find it weird to say the President Nelson spoke to me the other night instead of watching a broadcast like i'm used to, hope for more visits of prophets beyond President Nelson a huge blessing of having a living prophet in these latter days.

Jesus didn't come to build a temple with man's hands but a temple built with his hands. A temple of flesh and blood. A temple within everyone who is born again and calls upon the name of Jesus the son of God. God manifest in the flesh. Worship him and not man. You have one mediator between you and the father and that is Jesus Christ.

under the Mosaic law, it was practiced as best it could but Christ did away with that law as His birth and Ministry fulfilled that law, ending any further Mosaic customs including sacrifices and bloodline lineage for leaders. He made Peter the 'president' of His church before he died and would guide Peter and his early apostles through revelelation-hence the statement, "upon this rock" He would build His church. You do not know if the Church of Jesus Christ of LDS leader is a prophet or not. You just spew that because of ignorance and bias and a severe lack of understanding. The Holy Spirit is the only source of this knowledge and you sir, have not had that revealed to you.

i want to get your name so i can pray for you.
it may appear to some that the 'Church' is obsessed with names.
'So i can pray for you' has the visit to the vatican rubbed off onto pres Nelson i think it has , as thats what Priests do they pray but not much else!
Would the islamic man of faith be grateful that president Nelson thinks his prays will be more effective than the prays of the muslim brotherhood.

When people of another faith offer to pray for me, I gladly accept the kind offer. In no way do I think that one prayer is more effective than another.

People in just about any church I've known of pray for people, and they do so by name when known. This is a common practice across many churches and religions. Most people appreciate prayers on their behalf. It really is a token of concern and love.

I think you misinterpreted that gesture. Actually, I'm sure a lot of fundamental Muslims (if they are the fundamental type) would not want a Christian to pray for them. I actually saw a scoffing look from a Muslim man beside the brother receiving the hand shake.
