Thank you. I can confirm it works for the Husky 450 Rancher as well. Great vid with detailed close ups so there is no confusion and simple explanations. I just bought mine and started it up once. When I shut it off and tried starting it a 2nd time to confirm I knew how, the rip cord came right out and my plans went with it. If it hadn't cut the test tree like a hot knife through butter during my test, I would have returned it. Couldn't be happier with it now the rip cord is no longer a problem.
Nice. Thanks for the confirmation on the 450. Square knot should work fine. I just find the knot I used to be more dense albeit a little more complicated. potato patato
Thanks appreciated the explanation on the proper knot too! Got my up and running again, but only to have the knot rip out yet again on the second time I used it after this repair. Replaced it with a higher quality cord and gave it a little more length so I wasn’t always bottoming out and so far so good.
Just got done restringing my 440. Worked the first time and took 10 minutes while saving me a trip to repairman and $40+ Your video was well explained and easy to follow however I used a square knot rather than the hitch you showed. Thanks for posting.
Thanks for doing this video, its always better to go at a job not so blind. Getting to see it first gives confidence. Thank you. 👍 If I may add my 5 cents to it. I would recommend dribbling a little bit of super glue into your knot. I 'm sure you can imagine how that would help, naturally letting the glue dry before you continue.
well thank you Sir Husqvarna must suck at knots my story is the same as yours second time using it and pop it came out, I was looking online at buying a whole new pull cord assembly so glad I came across your video
Husqvarna should be paying you. You just saved a return. First day out of the box mine failed. I hope I don't come to regret keeping it though after this...
Can't really tell without taking it apart. Think about it this way... If it isn't recoiling then you cant start it. So it doesn't work. Taking it apart isn't going to make it worse. Right now you have no idea what is wrong. If you back off 4 screws (maybe 5) you will have much more information... will probably know what's wrong... and can come back later when you have more time to fix it.
My starter cord keeps getting jammed up at full extension now. Will not rewind properly. First pull out of the box and the knot came right out. What a garbage chainsaw at an expensive price.
I was also really discouraged when I first bought this saw and this happened. However, since I made this fix, the saw has been running fantastically. But this stupid knot really sours the whole experience. The devil is in the details.
This one was a bit more long winded than usual, but I wanted to make sure to give step by step instructions. long winded videos annoy me too... thats why I have no "intro" on my channel. Its a balance... maybe I'll go back and put in chapters.

2nd time using my 440 and cord pulled out as well. Love the Husqvarna saws but they need to get on this! Thanks for the great video!

Hell yeah I tried myself a few times but didn’t realize you use that little notch to wind it! Thanks already running my prized saw again!
Thanks! Saved me a trip to a repair shop

Sure wouldn't want to jump from a plane with this RIP cord the way it was.....
My rip cord is not recoiling. I haven’t had time to take it apart. Do I need a new one

Nice description! Same thing happened to me yesterday up in the woods. Got yourself a new sub👍🏼
You needed 10 minutes to explain this?
